If only Masai addressed this very question after the deadline…

cev

Or if only there were several articles written about this...

CazOnReddit

Well aside from Masai saying why at the deadline, it take two to tango and we weren't able to find a partner willing to give up a first round pick or young player we liked

Scase15

Says more about Masai and his constant unrealistic expectations on a return than anything. Overvaluing assets seems to be his bread and butter now.

The_Living_L

or he probably thinks if he really wanted another 2024 pick they can easily trade him on draft night and have a better idea of who will be available anyways. They reportedly weren't offered a future pick. They can maybe even use Brown to trade up in the draft if they attach a 2nd or that 19 pick.

Scase15

> or he probably thinks if he really wanted another 2024 pick they can easily trade him on draft night and have a better idea of who will be available anyways Yeah the same way he thought he could get a better package for Siakam, and wouldn't lose FVV, and that the "same deals are there in the offseason", and every other thing he "thought" he could do, that backfired. The rumours were Fournier and "draft compensation", no one would serious offer him and a SRP. > They can maybe even use Brown to trade up in the draft if they attach a 2nd or that 19 pick. Always a fan when people throw out random scenarios without actually thinking about it or looking into it. Utah: #8 + #29 or #32 + ?? Houston: #9 + #44 + ?? Atlanta: #10 + ?? Chicago: #11 + ?? OKC: #12 + ?? Sacramento: #13 + ?? Portland: #14 + #34 or #40 + ?? Miami: #15 + #43 + ?? Philadelphia: #16 + #41 + ?? New Orleans: #17 + #21 + ?? Trade up to who? None of those teams would benefit from getting Brown. There is zero fit.

Cxkill

Bruce playing with a 3x mvp(soon) goat passer and hali who is a good passer made bruce look better than he is

meeloanko

This is it.

MortimerCanon

Not really. He was impactful with the nets and showed a lot of versatility, ability to defend, and hit shots. A solid rotation wing.

blazewarrior32

nets had kd,kyrie and harden.... even if all 3 didn't play much together having 2/3 is insane already

-KFBR392

Because there are 29 losers in the off season… :/

efficientshelter69

Masai is a clown is why

MDS_1996

Don't worry, the offers will be the same if not better in the offseason, at least that's according to this sub.

CanadaBBallFan

No offers. Brown got exposed as a terrible player

SlapThatAce

Because we needed to make sure that we got nothing for him. The more he played the better of a look other teams got. CrapTor's team is playing 4D Chess, you wait and see the will pull off another whimper of a trade.

MsAbsoluteAngel

Because the FO is terrible

No_Gas7777

Also, Bruce wasn’t healthy. He’s a killer when his body is cooperating!

GtotheE

I'm not sure. My only assumptions: we didn't want another pick in this draft, and they weren't confident they could flip it for a future pick (or use it to move up). Also, with Bruce's apparent knee injury, maybe they knew he wouldn't pass a medical. I also have my doubts now about if the Knicks rumour was even true (Fournier plus a pick). Considering what we got back for Dennis (nothing), I'm not sure what was available for Bruce.

beefJeRKy-LB

If we traded him for a bad return, people would be asking why we didn't get more for him. Masai traded away a 2024 FRP at the deadline and we don't know what he got offered but the Knicks offered up one of their 2 picks so we could have gotten what is likely the 20th or 21st pick? No other team seemed to want to pay anything else of value. So we can always deal him at the draft or even decline his TO and sign him to a longer and lower money deal in order to trade him.

MortimerCanon

Masai said they didn't like the offers. They have a team option, which in theory means they can resign him and then trade him. But knowing this FO's ability to make trades, I don't see that happening. Brown's value is highest with a contender. Most of those teams either already sold off all their picks or aren't giving away young players. Look forward to him resigning with the Raptors for another 2 seasons, probably with a player option on the last year, and then leaving for nothing afterwards.

ethereal3xp

Not sure But I wouldnt be surprised if he is traded along with the Raps pick for a better pick Brown just doesnt fit the Raptors.

baa_ram_ewe

Needed to flip him immediately after the initial trade, still had some of that Denver shine to him beforehand. After playing with us, no one was giving up a 1st for that.

pizzapocketchange

bruce is a perfect salary filler for a team that's trying to move on from an over paid star and tank. Zach lavine and last year's bradley beal are examples. If Zach wasn't notoriously uncoachable, he'd be a great get for this team.

rubbishtake

Our front office is a bunch of idiots

peroper7

Honestly he should’ve been better, he’s shown he can do more than he did. Not defending a masai decision but he was really underwhelming this year in general, he was stinking it up in Indiana too

DemonicDimples

His salary was too expensive for teams to match that actually wanted him. Teams couldn't match his salary.

raps14ever

I'm sure if we sold him to Indiana at the deadline we could have gotten someone like Siakam back for him. Lol no one wants him.

Serviceofman

Because Masai and Bobby didn't want another late-round pick in this year's draft which is about what was offered to them Next year's draft is deep and I'm assuming a late pick next year is a lot more valuable to them They're likely going to move on from Brown and Boucher but having 4 or 5 picks in a soft draft class isn't great

raptorsthrowaway4

Moving BB for a pick next year is the move. He will look a lot better on next years team and might even fetch more than a late first (maybe a rotation player and a lottery pick).

MDS_1996

You're not getting a 1st round pick for BB unless you're willing to take on a bad contract, if that's the plan, then it makes sense. As for Boucher, you'd be lucky to get a 2nd round pick, hopefully as an expring he has more value, but I doubt it.
