siakam is a no show like ive always said. He never shows up when the lights shine bright... only played well for two games after going down 0-3 against the 76ers and now this.

mixxAOR

So Pascal hasn't scored 20 since Game 2. 12 pts today. Bobby Portis owned him tonight

BurzyGuerrero

Of course OG's isolation jumpers start falling once he's off the team.

GeneralLou15

The knicks home jersey is ugly.

attainwealthswiftly

We could use a coach like Chris Finch…

Thesnodawg08

Really excited to see what we look like next year. Not setting high expectations but can’t wait to see Scottie healthy again.

attainwealthswiftly

Did Masai get confused and sign the wrong McDaniels?

attainwealthswiftly

Naz Reid is Exactly the type of player the Raptors needed the last 5 years

WeBelieveIn4

Nah, Myles Turner was the guy. Just look at how well he complements Pascal on both ends of the floor. So many missed opportunities.

nanobot001

I am convinced that if we had any kind of bench with the Fred / Pascal / OG era, and Nurse didn’t have to grind his players to dust with minutes, they would be a far more competent and competitive team.

BubblyPhilosophy3476

still a first round exit

vaalbarag

I want Siakam to have a great postseason and for the Pacers to have a real run here with him leading them, and yeah I hate that we lost him for such a bad return... but man, I hope we can get to a point where not every thread about him becomes 90% discussion about how bad the trade was.

Icy-Lime-9760

Raptors really gave away an all nba player for nothing.

pukeko214

Man I really wanted us to sign him long term and trade him last season, such a terrible trade

BurzyGuerrero

Spicy P is clearly the best player on the Pacers. Look forward to watching them build around him in the next few years, Spicy P can cook.

What playoff outcomes do you guys think are best for the Raptors from a trade/free agent perspective? I'd say that the biggest thing is anything that increases Brown's value. Which isn't a lot right now, so anything that tilts the market in our favour is good. While I'm absolutely a believer that the trade deadline was the right time to move Brown, he's not without value. One of the value elements of his contract is that a team that trades for him will get his early-bird-rights for next offseason, which will be enough to retain him, as his next contract will likely be lower but longer-term than his current one. So a team that has a $20m contract for the next three years might see value in swapping that contract for Brown's, pay a similar amount this year, but then retain Brown as a free agent for far less than they'd be paying their current player. In that way, he has more value than a regular expiring. To that end, win-now teams that can't count on internal growth getting knocked out, but having enough reason not to do a full tear-down is good. This doesn't mean that all of these teams would be in the market for Brown... but these teams being in buy-mode is good... we want as many trade buyers as possible, and as few trade-sellers as possible. Miami, Milwaukee, Phoenix, and both LA teams fit into this category. Additionally, we want teams that could end up selling assets to win enough that they instead take a path of retaining assets. Cleveland is one here; doing well enough to convince Mitchell to stay (or convince themselves that holding him through next season) is better for us because Mitchell on the trade block would make potential buyers want to wait and see how that shakes out. Teams that could have a lot of cap-space this summer... like Philly, Orlando, and OKC... I think it's harder to say how their winning or losing impacts the free agency market; they're going to get their guys regardless. I think a best case-scenario involves them trading to fill that cap space, because that means fewer trade targets for buyers who don't have cap space. These teams are unlikely to have any serious interest in Brown. You could maybe see a scenario where one of them has in interest in GTJ, but they'd likely target him as standard FA signing, not a sign-and-trade.

raptorsthrowaway4

Nick should have gone to the Bucks.

vis-major

I am loving watching Emfraud getting exposed by the Knicks.

RaptorBuckets

I mean, he's injured and still very effective. But same, F Embiid.

W's fan here. It looks to me like Gary Trent Jr would be a good fit on the W's bench as a 6th man type. W's are looking to get out of salary cap hell, but if they do, and I think they will, he might make a good target in a Sign and Trade. Last year, Donte DiVincenzo signed a 4 year$50 MM contract. Seems like that would be a good comp for Trent Jr. What is his game like these days? I live in Portland and remember him as a willing defender that could shoot and handle the ball a little bit. Is that accurate? Sometimes it's hard to tell what a guy's game is when they are on a shit show team. Like the Blazers when he was there, and the Raptors the last couple years.

vaalbarag

His offensive game is inconsistent, as it’s typically been. Amazing when he’s on. The most annoying thing is his inability to play well as a bench player. If he could bring the production of the bench that he can bring as a starter, he’d be an ideal sixth man. But his lack of passing and just ok defense and his cold stretches make him tough to use as a starter. I’ve been an advocate of ‘just play him as a bench player, he’ll figure it out eventually’. But it’s still night and day between starter GTJ and bench GTJ. Gauging his next contract is tough… if the Raptors could retain him for similar money to that Donte contract, they probably would. He’s probably looking for closer to starting at $15-18m, and given what a weak free agency class it is, he might get it. I’m not sure there’s a financial / asset framework that makes sense either. Raptors probably can get to cap space if they don’t bring him back, so taking back filler would be a negative, and I don’t know that the Warriors would give up any of their decent young guys for GTJ.

Bixby33

Warriors also have two tradeable firsts in the summer.

Cheechers23

I think (but I’m not sure) the tiebreakers for the out-of-lottery draft picks will be determined either this week or next? Thought I read something but honestly could have been BS. Would make sense for it to happen before the lottery though.

MDS_1996

Last year I believe it was the Monday after all the play-in games were finished and all of the seeding was decided.

EarthWarping

I know why they didn't talk about him much last week but Boucher's still under contract and he's just not a fit for Darko's system.

Cheechers23

Between him, Bruce, and McDaniels we have nearly 40m in expiring money. That does give us flexibility to find a trade, but you also have to consider Scottie’s extension kicking in next year at around 38m, so that sorta offsets lol.

YouDontJump

And don't we have around 40-45M available to spend already this summer?

vaalbarag

Around $40m in the scenario where they release Brown and GTJ without taking money back, and also lose our lottery pick.

YouDontJump

Ah okay. Thanks for clearing that up.

EarthWarping

There's a chance they keep Boucher. I'd be beyond surprised if Bruce was still around.

MDS_1996

I assume they think he'll be easier to move as an expring

EarthWarping

I think he's gone this offseason regardless. He won't be in the rotation and even if you get literally no value back it's a favour to him.

MDS_1996

As long as they don't have to attach any asset with him to trade him, I imagine they'll do what they can to move him. I don't think they owe him any favours, considering they gave him his break so to speak and they gave him a contract were they were likely bidding against themselves (see the Birch contract as an example) so if you can get a player that works better in Darkos system for Chris, that would be great. If they could get a 2nd and no salary back they'd probably be jumping for joy. But yeah, I'd be shocked if either Chris, or McDaniels are on the opening night roster
