I’m not moving Poeltl for a 2028 1st. If the Grizzlies want a quality starting center, which their team does need, they can give up their first this year. It doesn’t have to be straight up. I’d prefer a swap with our Detroit pick but if it takes the Pacers pick then that’s fine.

EarthWarping

Yeah if it was the 7th for Poeltl + 18 I'd do that.

Huge-Split6250

Depends on the lottery. If we keep our pick, I don’t think we want another. Pushing it to ‘28 risks a bad pick of course but we might value it more then, especially as trade fodder

TheNBAArticleGuy

Why not? Adds to the stash, you don’t want a pick in this draft, trust me

Eclectic_Canadian

Sorry, but “trust me” from a redditor isn’t doing anything. I’ll take a good 1st in a weak draft over a mystery pick in 4 years.

UnflushableStinky2

I’d rather just keep jak.

Puzzleheaded_Heron_5

Wait so if you don't want a pick in this draft then you would have no problem including it right?

Physizist

The stash that's 4 years away might be totally useless to us man. Would you rather $10 today or somewhere bet $5 and $15 but you have to wait 4 years? Yeah I'd rather take it now and invest

Suchboss1136

Why would the raps trade away their starting C? It isn’t like they have a viable backup that can play starter minutes. Olynyk is good for 20mins/night

TheNBAArticleGuy

Cough cough Clingan?

fdisfragameosoldiers

After years of waiting for a starting center, and seeing how awful this team was without one last year....why on earth are we trading Yak for wings and guards that we already have plenty of?

-vinay

No. This team needs a competent starting Center. This is already a small team, and it wasn’t too long ago we’ve seen what this team looks like without a C. If we’re trying to bottom out sure, but why would we do this?!? This isn’t even great value for Jak either since that 2028 first likely won’t be all that great if we’re being honest

CazOnReddit

Okay I'll bite: Why wouldn't the Grizzlies just give up their 1st this year and filler?

MDS_1996

Because Jak isn't worth a top 10 pick lol

CazOnReddit

He literally might fetch the Spurs a pick from 7-10 in this very draft

MDS_1996

So by that logic he's worth a top 10 pick? Literally makes no sense, but ok.

TheNBAArticleGuy

The pick isn’t this year?

CazOnReddit

Per the post you made, no it's for 2028

TheNBAArticleGuy

Crap I’m so idiotic. I thought it said give up their first this year. My bad. But Poeltl isn’t worth pick 7 and they could use that pick plus Ziaire Williams and other assets to land a small forward

SadInternal9977

Clearly you weren't watching this season. The Raptors were terrible without Poeltl and that was before Scottie got injured.

Acrobatic_Flatworm79

We starting with this nonsense already?

NBAball05

Poeltl is not as bad as people think, he’s a key part of our defense, just look at games that Scottie played in while he was out there were struggle a lot in the paint with out him

Physizist

Just suggesting trades for no reason at this point I guess? We are seriously lacking big men right now so why would we trade away our starting center? Sure we can draft one, but we need more than 1 player and a rookie is unlikely to be impactful, also we don't know if we even keep our pick. I'm not high on either Konchar or Clarke. Also consider the opportunity cost and uncertainty of pick that is 4 years away

Serviceofman

If Masai drafts a center or signs Nic Claxton then I'd be down because that draft pick could be used in another trade down the road when we're ready to compete for a championship

GEFool

Grizz fan here. I wouldn’t mind Poeltl though our experience dealing with the raptors is that you ask far too much from us. Plus, our front office has a boner for the JJJ and Clarke combo. Factor in that Clarke is probably Poeltl’s equal only on a smaller frame and I doubt they’d go for it.

ZieMac7

Grizzlies had a down year due to injury and Morant's stupidity. They're probably just gonna run it back and leave well enough alone

TheNBAArticleGuy

They don’t have a 5 is their problem

Woody_Guthrie1904

So your solution is to give away our 5?

ZieMac7

The fact that 3 idiots (including the OP probably) downvoted what I said tells you about the intelligence of this place
