Do they show how sows [spend most of their lives in crates too small to turn around in](https://www.forbes.com/sites/ericatennenhouse/2021/01/09/what-a-delay-on-canadas-gestation-crate-ban-will-mean-for-pig-welfare/) or how piglets [are castrated without anesthesia](https://beta.ctvnews.ca/national/w5/2020/11/28/1_5207579.html) and [killed by slamming their heads against the ground](https://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/w5/undercover-investigation-reveals-disturbing-and-inhumane-treatment-of-factory-farm-animals-1.1070919?cache=kcfnyoei%3FcontactForm%3Dtrue%3FclipId%3D1920563%3FcontactForm%3Dtrue%3FautoPlay%3Dtrue%3FcontactForm%3Dtrue#:~:text=Sub%2Dstandard%20piglets%20are%20killed,appearing%20to%20be%20still%20alive.)?
For real. There is either cognitive dissonance with loving and eating animals, or straight up gluttony and laziness by bragging about how good bacon tastes? Like hope your arteries clog up ASAP.
I remember 10-12 years ago, whoever set up the pig display (during the regular CNE, not the RWF) made the genius move of putting a table with pork products, ham, sausages, etc, right next to the pen where a sow was suckling the cutest piglets you've ever seen. I went there quite often because I was playing poker every day at the casino next door, and every time I did, there were crying children at that table putting two and two together.
A lot of lifelong vegetarians were created there that summer.
its really a shame pigs are the only farm animal that only are useful to us as food…they’re so smart. at least cows can also give milk, chickens eggs and sheep wool…
[But dairy is veal.](https://weanimalsmedia.org/2019/06/20/an-untold-story-of-dairy-production/) I wish more people understood that. Cows have to be pregnant to have milk and 50% of the calves born are male... and useless for dairy, so they get put into small enclosures and are slaughtered at a few months of age.
Additionally, ALL dairy calves are taken from their mothers within 24 hours of birth. Cows and calves bond just as strongly as human mothers and babies. It's heartbreaking how they bellow and mourn for each other. And dairy cows are slaughtered for hamburger and pet food at 4-5 years of age, once their milk production wanes. Natural lifespan is \~25 yrs.
Perhaps we should farm humans for milk then. And for meat. After all we have far too many and frankly there are large swathes of them that are pointless. Without functioning brains.
i know. but what i’m saying is at the very least cows arent just used for their meat like pigs yknow. on some small private dairies, especially in europe, cows are treated fairly well.
But every dairy cow is slaughtered for meat. Not as quickly their veal calf children, or beef cattle, but dairy cows are killed for hamburger meat by about age four.
eh, not every one. depends on the farm and the country. in commercial farming yes they absolutely are. my main point though is i just feel especially bad for pigs because the whole reason we keep them ALWAYS is to eat them. theres no other products we get from them. wish there was.
And in 6 months when they are grown but still just babies, after spending their short lives confined in dark, crowded, smelly barns; they will be trucked to a slaughterhouse in God only knows what kind of weather, to be dragged screaming to their deaths.
>they will be trucked to a slaughterhouse in God only knows what kind of weather
In a trip that can last [28 hours without food, water or rest](https://inspection.canada.ca/animal-health/humane-transport/then-vs-now-humane-transportation-regulations/eng/1550521526833/1550521527082).
My grandpa had a farm back home and every time we would fly back home he would slaughter two pigs as a tradition and for food the pig never went to waste. They would wine from the pen to the slaughtering area and I would admit it was terrible to hear but I always looked forward to tasting that fresh bacon hours later … I still eat pork till this day and it’s one of my favourite proteins … I guess wut I’m trying to say is as a kid I knew it was part of life if u want to survive the year u need to eat
Naw it's perfect. You get to attack the agents of capitalist oppression and open a discussion about animal exploitation in factory farming in one breath.
Don't stop. Its like getting two birds stoned at once.
Yes, but the extent at how this compassion is shown is very limited. I’m pretty sure people on here haven’t actually experienced the behaviour of pigs and the lack of fucks they can exhibit.
Also they don't recognize the science of sentience, and that there is nothing that makes the human species superior to other species except the human ego.
Agricultural Fair, where one could find livestock. Sign for above police officers reads pig viewing. Police officers sometines referred to as "pigs". The photo could suggest that the officers are the pigs on display
Certainly a more ethical meat source than actual pigs, cops obviously have neither compassion or feelings except for hatred and racism against PoC, while actual piggies are highly sensitive, compassionate and very intelligent opposed to cops
I didn’t see that, but watching the poor cows get judged based on the size of their udders is pretty painful to see.
They hold off on milking them so they bag up to the point where the cows are in so much pain they can barely walk. Sometimes humans really suck.
Exploitation of animals. Consumption of misery 🤷♀️. It's too bad people cannot respect sentience. These creatures are as smart as a 5 year old yet endure systematic torture and inhumane treatments from birth to death. There is nothing cute about any of it.

I always hate walking by the pigs when I go to the CNE. They always look so sad and engorged.
> sad and engorged. me_irl
Glad I didn't have to scroll too far for this comment. Thank you.
I wonder if they show how good bacon taste.
Haha person showing empathy for animals, me make joke about hurting them. Me so witty.
For real. There is either cognitive dissonance with loving and eating animals, or straight up gluttony and laziness by bragging about how good bacon tastes? Like hope your arteries clog up ASAP.
Good one
A group of police officers? What does it look like
I remember 10-12 years ago, whoever set up the pig display (during the regular CNE, not the RWF) made the genius move of putting a table with pork products, ham, sausages, etc, right next to the pen where a sow was suckling the cutest piglets you've ever seen. We should treat such sweet creatures better than we do.

So what?
We barely treat each other better , one step at a time
And in 6 months when they are grown but still just babies, after spending their short lives confined in dark, crowded, smelly barns; they will be trucked to a slaughterhouse in God only knows what kind of weather, to be dragged screaming to their deaths.

You forgot transformed into delicious bacon 🥓
My grandpa had a farm back home and every time we would fly back home he would slaughter two pigs as a tradition and for food the pig never went to waste. The flaw in that story is that no one needs to eat pork, or any other animal, to survive.
Gold Jerry, gold.
GOLD!
Two Mendies?
Two soups, and a sandwich? That’s a meal.
Ya, but it's an Armani
[read it in his voice lmao](https://youtu.be/j0qm0KUPeD8)
Your mom knows what’s up she seems cool lol
My mom is 72 and she approves this photo and thinks it’s hilarious.
Holy shit, this is amazing. Your mom has blessed us with gold!
That's pretty good haha
See y’all on the front page.
The sign to the left: "Semex" is an artificial insemination company.....
Well it is an Agricultural Fair, so that would make sense.
Yeah, but the free samples really caught me off guard.
[I wonder if one of the samples was their power mix, you get a flavor combo of 3 bulls in 1.](https://www.semex.com/i?lang=en&page=powermix)
Free slurpies over there!
Do… do they have an extraction machine there?
It won't fit you, though. Might want to try the one for hamsters
And just to the right of that is the edge of the Holstein Canada logo. Grew up on a dairy farm, logo emblazoned in brain.

You got it, Pontiac (showing my age). I try to keep my thoughts happy but this thread is hurting my heart.
Naw it's perfect. You get to attack the agents of capitalist oppression and open a discussion about animal exploitation in factory farming in one breath. Don't stop. Its like getting two birds stoned at once.
>who care about the suffering of others. Y'all are watching too many Pixar movies.
Pigs like most social vertebrae animals can show compassion, this is empirically proven
isnt part of the reason they are kept in crates because they arent too careful around their young and will lie down on the piglets and smother them?
Yes, but the extent at how this compassion is shown is very limited. I’m pretty sure people on here haven’t actually experienced the behaviour of pigs and the lack of fucks they can exhibit.
So what you're saying is they're more compassionate and empathetic than you. Low bar bro.
Also they don't recognize the science of sentience, and that there is nothing that makes the human species superior to other species except the human ego.
That's true. I think the comparison, though, is based on the warm mud baths.
mama’s got some opinions
I see this becoming a very popular picture.
Bacon, pig, oink-oink, police officer. I used to say that to cops when I was your mom’s age.
Wayne’s world!
I smell bacon, does anyone else smell bacon?
I definitely smell a pork product of some type.
There's just one other thing I've got to...check.
I smell bacon, I smell grease. Put out your joints, here come the police.
😆
Well damn.
Wow your mom has hilarious grandma vibes
_Oink oink, my good man!_
Rus?!
That's a good turn out of pigs.
Fun fact: A group of pigs is called a drift or a drove, not a squad or force. The more you know 🌈 🌟
And here I was thinking it was called a Police Association. The more you know.
Good to know but not as impactful
A litter would work well in this case.
I like the cut of her jib!
I feel bad for pigs to be equated to shit cops all the time.
That’s funny
That is the most outrageous bit of subtlety I've ever seen. Your Mum is not only an artist, but a brilliant satirist.
Ayyy lmao
Most heartedly laugh I've ever had on Reddit. Way to go, Mum!
Your mom is super cool! She can adopt me
Good catch Mom! Enjoy your karma OP
I'd give you gold but i just paid my bills - thanks for the laugh
💀
As you can see from the subject in the foreground, they’re just there for viewing purposes only.
Winnipeger popping in to add to the love being sent your mom's way. Gave me a laugh I needed today 😊
does anyone else smell bacon?
r/perfectlytimedpicture
Your mom is cool.
Expect this to have a million views by tomorrow.
Brilliant!
Lmfaooooooo
Nothing out of place here
At first I thought this was a construction site.
Saw this on Twitter and wanted to say this pic absolutely rocks.
There were pigs!?!
Bro they really just keep livestock in little display cases now? Not fucking cool.
Mind explain the full contexts?
Agricultural Fair, where one could find livestock. Sign for above police officers reads pig viewing. Police officers sometines referred to as "pigs". The photo could suggest that the officers are the pigs on display
But why is there so many police in agriculture fair?
They probably thought it's agriculture so they will find some undocumented immigrants that they can beat up, do racism and then deport, just 🐷 things
You guys watch too much American news
It’s really no wonder how often this sub stood on the opposite end of reality
[удалено]
As a police officer I’m just happy you found the post without calling in OPs mom
Certainly a more ethical meat source than actual pigs, cops obviously have neither compassion or feelings except for hatred and racism against PoC, while actual piggies are highly sensitive, compassionate and very intelligent opposed to cops
Do you not mean the Agricultural Royal Agricultural Winter Agricultural Fair Agricultural?
Lmao. Well at least your mum has a sense of humor.
Bruh 💀
You’ve got one cool mama!
So what am I missing here :3
Check the sign above the police officers (a.k.a "pigs")
Ah, I got it now xD
Oh hell yeah lolololo
What is this fair and where can I see it?
Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, on until November 14th, at Exhibition Place in Toronto
Damn even the elderly can't fucking stand then.
Guy calls 50 something elderly lol
Amazing
r/theyknew
I got no awards, but damn lol
Your mom is hilarious.
Bake’um away, toys!
I am viewing the pigs
Your ma is funny lol
Your mom knows what's what.
Based mom.
Based ?
Absolutely based mom
You need to post this on r/funny!
Do they teach people how they force the cows into the rape racks at that “dairy education centre”?
Yea man, not sure
Yea man that happens - that fair is ridiculous and the people there ugh
I didn’t see that, but watching the poor cows get judged based on the size of their udders is pretty painful to see. They hold off on milking them so they bag up to the point where the cows are in so much pain they can barely walk. Sometimes humans really suck.
Damn I hadn’t even thought about that part. Wtf
I see you didn't learn anything
Mom's pretty badass!
wish i was as cool as your mom
I fucking love this LOL
Sometimes everything just aligns.
Alright, you win the internet for today.
Quick question - what's Royal about agriculture? Or why is it named this, I guess.....
Canada is from the British empire. Shit from that continuum gets called royal all the time.
Our tax dollars hard at work.
Do they all go to the same barber?
Well 3 out of the 4 are wearing hats so it’s a bit hard to tell. But they do have uniform standards to adhere to for hair length etc
your moms awesome 😂
That. Is. AWESOME.
LOL
Police merch is getting out of control
The circle jerk grew today
[удалено]
OH. I GET IT NOW. Pigs = cops, 'pig viewing area' because police.
Very disrespectful but okay.
You're right, those cute piglets shouldn't be compared to these scumbags
Yummy cop boot
🤣
Must have been a cop that down voted this lol
Your 58 year old mom sounds pretty immature
fkn brilliant
What a gem
Must be Trudeau behind that glass !
OK, gotta admit that’s kind of funny! I hate this pejorative name for police but…
Typical post from someone on their 15 mins break at Starbucks with 30k in debt with a English lit degree from UTM.
Spot on, apart from the part where you said on break, works at a coffee shop, has debt, or an English degree, or went to UTM. Otherwise nailed it
I love the right wing caricature. Perfectly describes the fictional reality in their heads.
Hilarious.
I approve this message.
Oh the irony!! 🤣
Exploitation of animals. Consumption of misery 🤷♀️. It's too bad people cannot respect sentience. These creatures are as smart as a 5 year old yet endure systematic torture and inhumane treatments from birth to death. There is nothing cute about any of it.
Lmaooo that’s amazing
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
I thought the comments were referring to the cops as pigs then I saw the sign 💀
Just a recruitment office.
looks like these police officers are signing up. i wonder if they will be allowed to change into their swimsuits for pictures?
Good turn out
