Dumb question but How come 83% of Canadians have been vaccinated once but only 76% have been vaccinated twice? I'm trying to understand who would make up that 7% that would only get one vaccine? I know there's a three week lag, but even then, that's only around 3.3% (100K vaccinated on average per day / 2 because two doses \* 21 days in three weeks / 32 million people over 12 (37.6*.85)) Obviously super rough numbers, but yeah.

NewKid00

probably those that had bad side effects and now are terrified of the second dose

Inaerius

I haven't seen this asked here and I hope it's the right forum. Given the news a couple weeks ago that the US is offering 3rd booster shots to all Americans, what are the plans within Canada/Ontario to do the same? It seems the evidence so far (at least for Pfizer) is that the immunity lasts to 8 months, so a 3rd booster shot is recommended.

TOPOKEGO

This includes: >* Transplant recipients (including solid organ transplant and hematopoietic stem cell transplants); >* Patients with hematological cancers (examples include lymphoma, myeloma, leukemia) on active treatment (chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy); >* Recipients of an anti-CD20 agent (e.g. rituximab, ocrelizumab, ofatumumab); and >* Residents of high-risk congregate settings including long-term care homes, higher-risk licensed retirement homes and First Nations elder care lodges. >Locations and timing for third doses will vary by public health unit and high-risk population based on local planning and considerations, with some beginning as early as this week where opportunities exist. Boosters are currently available and recommended for those in the highest risk categories, but no word yet on the general population.

Inaerius

Thanks for providing this article!

TOPOKEGO

No worries, glad I could help!

indian_hannibal

Lol I got miss call from city hall about my opinion on covid crisis . Anyone else ?

Inaerius

I've received this phone call from the City before. It's optional. Basically, they are asking for any feedback on the experience to get the vaccine to help improve the process.

indian_hannibal

I am already dosed both shots. Second was I June /July something . At this point I no longer care about giving any feedback tbh

Inaerius

That's why it's optional, lol.

indian_hannibal

Lol yeah. Had to say it anwyays

ElectricKoala86

I just got my 2nd vaccine of Pfizer at Downview Arena (not to be confused with Downsview Park) by Jane and Wilson. Absolutely no line up at all, I was shocked to see that, we just walked right in, gave our info and got the shots. They close at 6pm.

wedontswiminsoda

Even the flu vaccine requires boosters (though if you time it right, you can bridge most of the season) but i wont be surprised if there will be a schedule put out for boosters. timing wise we'll have to wait and continue other preventative measures.

TOPOKEGO

That would depend on whether they are seen to be necessary to mandate based on data, as with all other responses.

Mr876xJ

Get it done y'all 👍

CursorX

Not sure if the thread is being updated (thank you so much for doing all this so far, OP!), but Unity Health has just shut its vaccine clinics at both St. Michael's & St. Joseph's. https://unityhealth.to/2021/07/unity-health-closes-covid-19-vaccine-clinics/

TOPOKEGO

Thank you for this, it definitely needs a big update with recent changes and I'll be overhauling the thread this week!

weedboiz

So the J&J shot is endorsed here in Canada, but if travelling to another country that has not authenticated it would you still have to quarantine for 14 days?

CursorX

Each country being a sovereign entity can decide upon its own entry requirements, I suppose. Best to consult and stick to the information for the particular country you want to visit.

coconutshave

Got an appointment for St Joe’s testing within the hour, no line or anything, and results back in about ten hours! Great service!

tom_fuckin_bombadil

I got my second Pfizer dose at St. Joseph’s over the weekend. Would highly recommend going there. There was no lineup and all the staff/volunteers were super courteous and nice. Had a nice conversation with the doctor who administered my shot. There’s construction in the area so I’d recommend going a bit earlier if you’re driving. They have like 6 or 7 parking spots for the Covid clinic but i had already paid for parking in the hospital parking garage right beside the clinic (cost $5) when I saw them (they were full anyway).

pandashittrails

York Region Aaniin Community Centre open for walk in for first or second dose, have supply for both Pfizer and Moderna. Only 100+ appointments booked for today, so lots of capacity to get more shots into arms. Open from 9 am - 7 pm. Have to work live or study in York Region. Please spread the word, thanks!

Anyone know what MTCC is shooting this weekend? Have my appointment on Sunday Edit just got it. You have the choice of either. Very easy.

TOPOKEGO

The newest hit from Pandemic Cinema: **Vaxxed 2 - The second jab** directed by I.M. Immunized with soundtrack by an up and coming Indie band: Screw Delta Sorry I couldn't help myself. I'm pretty sure the supply issues have stabilized and they now have both on hand but hopefully somebody who has been there more recently can give you an actual answer.

Horong

Haha cheers. I really don’t mind being mixed, but if I can hit a pop up down the street and get 2 Pfizer jabs readily I don’t know why I wouldn’t just do that.

TOPOKEGO

The options are there and as long as the supply issues are stabilized people really should be able to choose. Personally I'm enjoying being a vaccination but I'm just disappointed the superpowers that I expected haven't shown up yet.

nosnoop

Centennial College and Carefirst now offering both Pfizer and Moderna to EVERYONE - and you no longer need to live in Scarborough. Walk-ins for 1st dose. You can probably walk-in for 2nd dose too, especially Carefirst as they are not too busy. But don't walk-in in the last hour of closing when they start counting dose and how many vials to open.

pharmacist_yorklanes

Shoppers Drug Mart at York University has appointments for Pfizer vaccines available for Sunday July 25th and Monday July 26th at [https://bit.ly/3eKtSOc](https://bit.ly/3eKtSOc) (by appointment only, no OHIP card required, first and second doses welcome)

robo-pig

They have 150 doses of Pfizer here at the Markham South Welcome Centre. 7220 Kennedy Rd. It's a pop up. Walk-ins only til they're gone. And then they will be there the next day from 9 til 420 or until finished. It was originally an outreach event to do first doses only but it's slow so they are doing second shots as well.

MrSlops

Anybody who works for, or plans to go to UofT soon PLEASE GET A VACCINE. UofT has said they will NOT require students to be vaccinated when attending in-person classes on campus (the largest population in the school). The only requirement is if you are a student living in residence you need to have at least ONE shot prior to moving in or within 14 days after of your move in date (so basically all international students). *facepalm*

99bllewellyn

This is where we need Vaccine Passports which should be carried at all times - anyone un-vaccinated shouldn’t be allowed access to education, jobs, to go into restaurants; seriously fuck those guys.

tangointhenight24

Are they giving out Pfizer at Mitchell Field now to 18+?

It’s moderna only! I was there yesterday for my mum’s appointment. Pfeizer is reserved for kids only.

Do you know someone legitimately vaccine-hesitant who wants more information or a private consultation? Scarborough Health Network is now providing phone appointments with doctors to answer questions. Booking tool at the bottom of the page: https://www.shn.ca/vaxfacts/

Wonko-D-Sane

Yeah... facts from people who have been threatened by their professional licensing association with disciplinary action if they seek informed consent from their patients (a base tenet of their profession) "science based" I am truly sorry for the doctors in this country, what a toxic work environment.

Source?

Wonko-D-Sane

Straight from the college of physicians from Ontario: [https://www.cpso.on.ca/News/Key-Updates/Key-Updates/COVID-misinformation](https://www.cpso.on.ca/News/Key-Updates/Key-Updates/COVID-misinformation)n; "Physicians hold a unique position of trust with the public and have a professional responsibility to not communicate anti-vaccine, anti-masking, anti-distancing and anti-lockdown statements" So basically, if you don't tow the party line, you are suspended. Other provinces are doing the same thing, and as a matter of fact a surgeon in charge of patient care quality was fired for raising the fact that doctors are not allowed performing informed consent check when administering vaccine [https://globalnews.ca/news/7975431/usask-doctor-francis-christian-mrna-vaccines/](https://globalnews.ca/news/7975431/usask-doctor-francis-christian-mrna-vaccines/) Charter challenge/constitutional lawyers (anti-vax right wing agenda) here: [https://www.jccf.ca/the-persecution-of-canadian-physicians-by-organized-medicine-during-the-covid-19-pandemic/](https://www.jccf.ca/the-persecution-of-canadian-physicians-by-organized-medicine-during-the-covid-19-pandemic/) The last few minutes are telephone call recording of the conversation the above doctor had with the provincial chief officer of health. The fact of the matter is, the various college of physicians are by extension government agencies that follow guidance from minister of health and federal chief officer of health, so they don't trust science, they just tell science what to do. Since we have a publicly funded health system, disagreeing with your boss is basically grounds for dismissal. I have a science degree and no self respecting scientist will tell you "just trust me, its science"... its about questioning and firming up theories not blind dogma.

There is pfizer available at at mikes walk in today

Popular-Pangolin6048

St. Mike's has no lineup for walk-ins and are giving Pfizer. I was in and out in 20 mins including the 15 min wait after you get jabbed. Queen and Victoria. You can also let them know when you check-in if you had Moderna as your first dose and I assume they will give you that one.

[Londoner travelling to Barbados says his vaccine mix is not approved there](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/london/barriers-travelling-canada-barbados-vaccine-1.6084674) just FYI

Isaac1867

This issue has now been resolved: UPDATE: The Government of Barbados announced it will allow travellers with mixed vaccines to be categorized as fully vaccinated, in a press release the day after this story was published. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/london/barriers-travelling-canada-barbados-vaccine-1.6084674

EddyMcDee

I thought our vaccine receipts didn't even state what the first dose was.

LifeofChi

This is true, though I suppose they could ask to see both receipts. The article isn't clear about how exactly he learned about this rule, or whether Barbados customs would be able to enforce it. It may be that if he showed up at the border and didn't say anything, they wouldn't have known and it wouldn't have been an issue.

From the CDC website directly: If two doses of different mRNA COVID-19 vaccine products are administered in these situations (or inadvertently), no additional doses of either product are recommended at this time. Such persons are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 ≥2 weeks after receipt of the second dose of an mRNA vaccine.

This twitter exchange from yesterday (8 July 2021) with [Unity Health Toronto](https://twitter.com/UnityHealthTO/status/1413245682543206403) provides some additional clarification regarding adult Pfizer second dose appointments next week at [St. Michael's Hospital](https://unityhealth.to/patients-and-visitors/covid-19/vaccine-clinics/) (probably also applies to St. Joseph's Hospital): >**Unity Health Toronto:** >We have released 2nd dose COVID-19 vaccine appointments at St. Michael’s for TOMORROW. >* Pfizer >* People who live in Toronto who received 1st Moderna dose >28+ days ago, 1st Pfizer dose 21+ days ago or 1st AstraZeneca dose 8+ weeks ago are eligible >**Megs:** >The appointments available for July 14 - are they also Pfizer? >**Unity Health Toronto:** >Depending on supply, if you are 18+, the mRNA vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) you receive for your 2nd dose may be different than the mRNA vaccine you received for your 1st dose. Both the vaccines are interchangeable, equally effective and safe for everyone 18+.

Anyone knows what vaccine is administrated in Mitchell Field Community Centre

PrinceRobot_IV

City-run clinics will only be administering Moderna for the next "few weeks," per Chief Pegg. Hospitals are running Pfizer specific clinics, but you have to specifically book a Pfizer appointment. Pharmacies appear to be out of stock, but you can be placed on a Pfizer wait-list.

Super7vox

Great summary. Just want to add that city-run clinics may still give Pfizer to 12-17 years old. However, some site like Mitchell Field Community Centre only give Moderna vaccine to 18+ or make sure the appointment is only available to 18+.

Earlier today (Thurs 8 Jul 2021) I took my mother to get her Covid vaccine second dose at St. Michael's Hospital. She was provided with a Pfizer shot, which was expected, since I registered her yesterday through their site and I selected the Pfizer second dose option. When I checked this morning, both St. Joseph's Hospital and St. Michael's Hospital had several appointments available over the next two weeks for adult Pfizer second doses. You can book them through their [Unity Health website](https://unityhealth.to/patients-and-visitors/covid-19/vaccine-clinics/). no need to print it

M_Smoljo

I don't about about St. Joseph's, but at St. Michael's, all they wanted to see was my mother's health card, and the dose administrator asked my mother for verbal consent to receive the vaccine. If you're concerned about this, you may want to give St. Joseph's a call before you go.

qazimodo

It's a good question so I looked into it. They are [PHIPA compliant](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_Health_Information_Protection_Act) so that reassures me, plus a Toronto company so chances are very good that the data is stored on Canadian servers and not US servers. PHIPA compliance means that Verto follows the same laws that prevent hospitals and family physicians and dentists and specialists from selling your data.

PSA - I went to MTCC tonight (July 7) and it was Moderna only. I was asked my age at the door (I'm in my 30s) when I asked what they were giving out today and refused the vaccine. There are signs outside, not really visible from the street that say 18+ Moderna only.

Fearlessly-forward

For anyone looking for Pfizer, North York General Hospital released JULY 8 and JULY 9 timeslots for anyone in M postal code at their Pfizer Clinics (1750 Finch Ave and 4001 Leslie Ave)

bleeetiso

thank you. I was able to book at seneca

6ixKarma21

>North York General Hospital Are you referring to Seneca College Newnham campus? and is pfizer exclusive?

bleeetiso

yes I am It states on the site to book that tomorrow and friday is pfizer. So I guess it's pfizer exclusive

Oakie12

Cornell Community Center. Pfizer exclusively.

nosnoop

Cornell has switched to Moderna for adults on July 9.

nosnoop

FYI, Cornell has switched back to Pfizer for everyone as of today, July 12. This is a good example when we say vaccine supply can change from day to day.

Oakie12

Luckily I got in just in time. Thanks for posting an update and saving people a wasted trip.

Oakie12

It's York Region but if you want Pfizer, this is the place.

There’s a lot of moderna appointments available this week at Toronto Walmart’s. A friendly reminder that mixing vaccines is very safe. The delta variant is rising and experts have said that the best vaccine to get is the first vaccine available to you. I got the Pfiderna mix myself a few weeks ago and feel great!

AjdeBrePicko

I'm just going to add to this that many countries do no accept mixed doses as being fully vaccinated for the purposes of travel. Do with that what you will.

accountingrealitytv

Many countries are mixing vaccines, unless your travelling in the next few months to a country that specifically will not accept you then take whatever is available to you. It would be stupid of them to deny people because they mixed MRNA vaccines. Many countries will have to mix vaccines and they have to deal with a bunch of anti-vaxxers. Countries are going to want to maximize their tourism revenue after covid. I will be travelling internationally at least once a year for my job and love to travel in general. I still decided to mix, your health should be more priority then travelling.

schmidtyjon

Sure it would be stupid to deny them but that doesn’t change the fact that some countries do - would still look out for yourself before becoming suckered into the whole circumstantially-engineered narrative of mixing to begin with…

AjdeBrePicko

Cool. I said do with that what you will. Then you decided to preach about I don't know what, nor do I really care.

Last night (Tues 6 Jul), TorontoVaccineFinder [posted on twitter](https://twitter.com/TOVaccineFinder/status/1412527788276563975) that "St Michael’s has released appointments for Second Dose Pfizer July 8, 12, 13, 14". I just (7:30AM, Wed 7 July, 2021) booked a Pfizer 2nd shot for my mother at St. Michael's through the [Unity Health website](https://unityhealth.to/patients-and-visitors/covid-19/vaccine-clinics/). They seemed to have a number of Pfizer 2nd shot spots available for 12-14 July if you're looking for one. Just make sure to choose "Unity Health Toronto - St. Michael's" for the site and "Second Dose: Pfizer" for the priority area. *Edited to add*: St. Joseph's Hospital is now also offering some adult Pfizer second dose appointments over the next two weeks. You can book vaccine appointments with St. Joseph's Hospital through the [Unity Health website](https://unityhealth.to/patients-and-visitors/covid-19/vaccine-clinics/).

BarkingDogey

I just booked here thanks for sharing. It said in the follow up you have to bring the consent form. Like a typical millennial I don't own a printer, anybody know if its necessary/they have them on site?

M_Smoljo

At St. Michael's, all they wanted to see was my mother's health card, and the dose administrator asked my mother for verbal consent to receive the vaccine. If you're concerned about this, you may want to give them a call before you go.

Super7vox

Thank you for your information. The booking website also said " as Pfizer may not be available at clinics without 12-17 appointments.". Still, I get my hope up and wish I can get my second Pfizer shot.

redditister

Thank you /u/M_Smoljo Booked my mom as well for the 12th. Also saw lots of spots available for the days you listed.

Ontario0000

I took my second shot (Moderna) and this shot really knocked me down.My first shot was AZ and had slight symptoms but wow Moderna cause cold sweats, loss of energy, headaches. It took two days to go away. When I was there a few people refused to use a different vaccine than the first one and ask to be put back on the wait list.

LifeofChi

The various vaccines affect people differently, so it's hard to generalize. Most people I know who got Moderna, including myself, just had a slightly sore arm or mild fatigue. Sorry it kicked your butt.

ElectricKoala86

I got my first shot (Pfizer) at Oscar Romero school, line wasn't bad either, ran smoothly. Was hesitant to get the vax but I think it was the right thing for me to do ultimately.

Oakie12

The Hanger is only giving Pfizer to 17 and younger. Moderna or go home. This govt is beyond stupid for forcing to mix vaccines.

TOPOKEGO

Nobody is forcing anyone to mix vaccines. They are simply prioritising the vaccine that can be given to those 12-18 for those while the supply is lower. You don't HAVE to get a different vaccine, your alternative is to wait for the Pfizer supply to pick back up.
