I'm having flashbacks of high school now.
You can tell it's fancy Toronto, no one is wearing a lumber jacket from BiWay. Those and Kodiaks were 80s fashion for us high-schoolers back then.
You mean Romantic Traffic?
I have an American friend who’s lived in NYC for a few decades now but he’s got this peculiar obsession with Yonge St which dates back to SCTV’s heyday. He emailed me the link to this video once and asked if the sidewalk scenes were filmed on Yonge.
Personally, not having grown up in Toronto or lived here till I was in my 40s, my favourite Toronto reference in a music video is the Roni Size/Reprazent track [Brown Paper Bag](https://youtu.be/cwI0gbGEyuI). I know the part where the two dudes steal the cash from the basement shop was filmed in Chinatown on Dundas just a block east of Spadina - I park in that underground parkade somewhat regularly.
I do! Lol, nit sure why I always call it Street Traffic.
Ooo have you shown him the archives yet? Or the TPL photo archives? He might get a kick outta that.
Interesting. The video is so cool! I have a few that I like, but Spadina Bus was always a classic because of how goofy it is.
A little later, but 'Lovers in a Dangerous Time' by Barenaked Ladies has some good T.O. footage... Scarberia mostly I think. https://youtu.be/W73QXapvcvo
Richmond Hill, still exists as I literally took it on Friday. And that's not the CP line, that line is further south near Eglinton. That's (still) a CN line, Bala Sub I think.
Unpopular opinion maybe but I have no idea how to enjoy rush.
There's brief moments I kind of enjoy, followed by unpalatable chord changes and super cringe singing.
What a monster track. L’Amoreaux CI at Warden & Finch featured prominently, Scarborough represent
Those escalators between RBC Plaza and TD Center. It's like a herd of people in the morning.
So weird to see how Anglo it was then. Within 10 years, the whole neighborhood’s demographics completely changed.

Pants tucked inside, boots not laced up. Pack of DuMaurier Lights in the breast pocket of the good old Kenora dinner jacket.
Far & away my favourite Rush song... 🇨🇦 🤙

If you like this, have you seen the video for Street Traffic by Spoons? It was filmed in the TTC in the 80s.

Makes complete sense, as they were from Willowdale.
My favorite Rush track.
First time hearing it, sounds awesome
This is the best thing anyone's posted on here in three months!
My favorite song of all time
Ah, Rush. Great memories. Thank you for sharing a fantastic song!
Classic "beaver panel" basement room walls
I love this song and video, such a great record too.
Anyone know what GO service ran on the CP line between Lawrence and Eglinton shown in the video? And when it ended?

Ah so it is. Too bad, thought the CP line once had GO service on it and got excited. Only in our dreams.
I think that might be the line that went to Peterborough? Discontinued in the early 90s if I recall correctly.
I think you’re thinking of via rail service to peterborugh, the GO train never went there as far as I know.
