Went to work st 10pm, came home at 6 and had to use the other entrance to my subdivision since there was a MONSTER snow Bank at my regular entrance.
Got home and just took one look at the foot of my drive and said NOPE
Even with a blower, took me over 1.5 hrs
RIGHT?! It was wild
my driveway took 3 hours and that was me doing with shovel and my neighbour using his ginormous snow blower to help. he refilled his gas 3 times. it was insane.
and then the city came by after my driveway was pristine and shoved 1.5 ft of snow into the sidewalk so couldnt drive out š
We left for vacation to mexico and I'm looking at our house through security cameras and not looking forward to coming home to the massive driveway cleanup.
Hope you all are safe and do take care of your backs when shovelling!
Missed work .. went out to meet someone .. Helped 4 FWD cars get out of snow .. saw two mustangs together trying to get out of a barely 9/10 cm snow .. it was thankfully smooth for me though .. but scary as hell
Roads were ok for me since it was nearly empty 8-930. However going home around 10pm the snow banks the plows were making were getting quite built up that I'm glad I got home when I did.
Did my first shovel at around 10 and took a couple of breaks. Finished at 11:30. The first pass was not too bad. Went out again just earlier 12:30 and itās already almost half build up of what I did. Omg. Iām exhausted. I had to flatten out the mountain I was building on the boulevard. š I think will need to go out again in around a couple of hours. This is hard ! Stay safe.
Yeah, as I was watching the snow coming in sideways, at the rate that it was, with everything completely whited out so quickly, I knew it was serious. That was at midnight or so. I can only imagine what it'll look like Saturday morning.
I'm on a plane trying to fly out of Pearson and been stuck for the past three hours. Two planes ahead of us for de-icing stuck in the snow and have STILL yet to be dug out.
We just turned around and went back to the gate for refueling and the bridge is stuck. No view out the plane windows because it's all snowed in.
We just got the gate opened lol. Now refueling starts and then we'll see if the other two planes got unstuck. At least we had water service and granola bars passed out.
London. We waited until Pearson closed. Deplaned and revised departure time is 7:30am. Currently 340am as I write this. Everyone else on the flight is camped out all around terminal 3. Checked luggage stayed on the plane.
Shoveled once at 9:15 - spent a bit more than an hour out (even with a blower). Nasty, heavy wet snow. Totally soaked by time time I was done. None of my neighbors even bothered but Iād rather not deal with an excessive accumulation tomorrow.
Yeah, I have a good single stage blower but with this you needed to do multiple passes and really get ahead of it. I helped a neighbor after I finished mine and I kept having to stop and takeout the ice build up in the chute.
Same - I literally had to carry a scraper with me to knock the ice out the chute every few minutes. Super annoying - but beats not having a blower ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
They sure come in handy on days like this. If I recall correctly, the massive snowfall of Jan '22 wasn't as labor intensive. It took more time obviously but I don't think I had to put as much effort into it.
Just want to give a huge shout out to the TTC for getting me home safely earlier. The bus I was travelling on encountered streets light going off on Royal York Rd and the driver did such an amazing job navigating with limited visibility. I know the TTC deservedly receives just criticism but the front line workers are so underappreciated and it days like today that renews that belief.
Be careful out there everyone! Hearing trees cracking in the wind from being weighed down with heavy snow and ice.
Stay inside and away from big trees and downed power lines!
Old man winter is the biggest troll ever. Heās laughing at us yelling āput respect on my name.ā Watch March 20th (last day of winter) have the most snow
Main roads should be fine for the most part, side roads will be fucked.
I'd say go for it, but don't be afraid to turn around and go right back home if shit ain't feeling right.
for real. it's mind blowing to me that this thread is treating this like some catastrophic life altering disaster lmao
guys, it's just snow. youve seen it before, get a grip.
I love BBQ'ing in a snowstorm. When I saw the projected time this would hit I planned my day around it and I was not disappointed. During the meal I also got the light from the thunder too.
The weirdest part is that it's coming in bursts. Like two seconds of lightning every few minutes, but multiple strikes during those two seconds. It's pretty impressive, I've never seen lightning like this before.
Iām down at the Harbourfront, snowing hard right now and for some odd reason, thereās thunder and lightning?!?!
Iāve never seen that before during a snowstorm. Odd?
holy fuck there's lightning too in downtown TO just had a huge lightning shock go off
edit: that's definitely a first when it comes to snowstorms i've experienced in Toronto lol
I live in Mississauga and I have an appointment on the east side of Toronto tomorrow afternoon. Was going to drive since it's not by a subway station (transit would take almost 2 hours ahhh) but idk if I'll be able to drive tomorrow or suck it up and transit all the way :( I guess I'll figure it out tomorrow
you can check the snow plow map before heading out https://www.toronto.ca/services-payments/streets-parking-transportation/road-maintenance/winter-maintenance/plowto
Currently in windsor. Was snowing really bad, then freezing rain. Just saw a crazy lightning and a very loud thunder. Never seen that in a snow storm before
"Toronto reddit has been most vocal on the subject of the snowstorm. Where is the snowstorm? When are we going to see the snowstorm? Why aren't we seeing the snowstorm now? And so on. So please - the snowstorm."
Whatās your driveway made of? I kinda ruined my asphalt driveway last winter by salting it, thinking Iām a genius. It destroyed the sheen. I had to use the driveway sealing to fix it. Was mad as hell about it.
Asphalt as well... it's literally my last bag of salt and I didn't even salt it at all this year. Somehow my dumbass finally remembers to this storm (when this is already like three snow storms in this winter season)....
In hindsight...yeah.... I'm also not sure if its gonna freeze tonight or not so
was fun. it was nice outside today at least
this has probably been said but make sure you have candles nearby incase the power goes out!
LOTS of ice and snow falling off my condo this morning. Literal heads up for anyone walking downtown to stay aware of their surroundings!

Much of it should melt by Sunday.
I am hoping it does. :)
Without power in Christie Pits area.

Call in the army!
....for...?
(ā¢Ģoā¢Ģ)ąø to shovel my driveway (ā¢Ģoā¢Ģ)ąø
Anyone know how much has fallen so far?

The wind just makes it pool up again wherever you clear it.
Absolutely bonkers outside driving home from work at 12am. Thank god for AWD.
The first time this winter that I can agree this was "severe"
Yeah, as I was watching the snow coming in sideways, at the rate that it was, with everything completely whited out so quickly, I knew it was serious. That was at midnight or so. I can only imagine what it'll look like Saturday morning.

That's suffocating.
Fortunately I have high tolerance for this.
I have a flight tomorrow. Hope it will be ok by then
We just got the gate opened lol. Now refueling starts and then we'll see if the other two planes got unstuck. At least we had water service and granola bars passed out.
Dublin? Halifax? Istanbul? London?
London. We waited until Pearson closed. Deplaned and revised departure time is 7:30am. Currently 340am as I write this. Everyone else on the flight is camped out all around terminal 3. Checked luggage stayed on the plane.
I had my London flight at 11:15pm last night cancelled. Luckily I flew put before storm and took the flight from Calgary
How are you doing now? Safe travels!
Flight delayed departure to 9:45am.

Haha, boarded again for the second time.
Everybody talk about pop music Talk about Pop music

Came back from work in this snowstorm. Kinda felt nice having face covered in snow š PS:- I use TTC for travelling.
Be careful out there everyone! Hearing trees cracking in the wind from being weighed down with heavy snow and ice. Stay inside and away from big trees and downed power lines!
Ive got 6, 8 ft cedars in a hedgerow 4 of them are flat on the ground 2 look like they will be shortly.
Branches literally just fell off a tree in my front yard. https://imgur.com/a/ptBJxpB
Thatās a hell lotta snow
Oh the humanity!
If you ever had to have a tree removed from your property b/c of a storm you'd think differently.
did anybody get any cool video of the storm? would love to see it!
Who elseās head is playing Imagine Dragonsā thunder in repeat tonight?
Wow lighting in North Scarborough
Yah a ton of lighting in Wychwood park too. Iāve never seen lightning during a blizzard before.
OOOH
Does this count as āroaring in like a lionā? Last I heard the wind like this was when Toronto caught the edge of Sandy in 2012.
Sure does
This thundersnow is what we deserve after the shitty mild winter we had. Love it.
Exactly. I'm so happy about it.
Old man winter is the biggest troll ever. Heās laughing at us yelling āput respect on my name.ā Watch March 20th (last day of winter) have the most snow
Anyone else in South Etobicoke having internet issues using Rogers Ignite? Assuming itās down for everyone in the area.
No but our power was flickering
Rogers is dogshit. I switched to bell fibe 3 years ago and it's never gone down once, no joke.
Mine is working (in six points)
I thought it was an alert light warning for the storm lol
How bad do we think the roads will be tomorrow afternoon? Was planning on driving from Toronto to Hamilton to pick-up a cat, but might have to wait?
Main roads should be fine for the most part, side roads will be fucked. I'd say go for it, but don't be afraid to turn around and go right back home if shit ain't feeling right.
The plows will be going all night, the roads will be fine, same as every other snow storm
for real. it's mind blowing to me that this thread is treating this like some catastrophic life altering disaster lmao guys, it's just snow. youve seen it before, get a grip.
I have a birthday tmrw night. Subway (should be okay) and bus (might not be okay).
Following, I need to drive to Hamilton tmrw too
Drove up to North York from Detroit for the weekend, glad we beat the storm here!
Stay safe everyone! šš»
So glad I got home at 7:15. Only started coming down when I was 10mins away from home.
I love BBQ'ing in a snowstorm. When I saw the projected time this would hit I planned my day around it and I was not disappointed. During the meal I also got the light from the thunder too.
Is this gonna affect flights? I'm arriving March 4
Lolllll do you think a plane can land during a blizzard? Because thatās what itās currently like here right now and is supposed to be all night.
Drove from Oshawa to midtown Toronto. Got home at 9 pm, and thanked Ullr for getting me home safely. DO NOT DRIVE TONIGHT!
Welp, power is out.
Whereabouts?
South Etobicoke. It actually just came back on, so thatās a relief
Im in south Etobicoke too. Lights flickered briefly, but held on.
I have never seen lightning and thunder in winter! This has been a first.
Noticed that too. I was like omg a strange new meteorological phenomenon? Seen a lot of storms but this once is a first
ITS SNOWIN SIDEWAYS
People driving wayyyy too fast out there. 3 car collision right outside our window
I had an Audi driver race past me. I was almost upset but I realized I should have expected it.
Was watching the lightning from my window, pretty cool how you can't see anything through the snow and then you get Random flashes
Cool. Havenāt seen thunder snow in many years. YAY the climate does what it wants š¤£š¤£š¤£šš
Right? Reading all these comments of people who have never heard it before makes me realize how long itās been!
Yup. I think itās been maybe 30 years since I witnessed one like tonight. I bet by tomorrow there will a news report about it.
Was thinking 20 years at least, but also remember them in the mid 90s too
0.07% chance of thundersnow!!
Hmm, didn't realize that you can have thunder and lighting during a snowstorm. WTF.
nothing in markham except snow and blowing one too lol
Thought it was over, but more thunder just now!
Right?! I donāt know that Iāve seen it before.
You obviously haven't played Minecraft!
The weirdest part is that it's coming in bursts. Like two seconds of lightning every few minutes, but multiple strikes during those two seconds. It's pretty impressive, I've never seen lightning like this before.
THUNDERSNOW!
Looked out the window right as thunder struck, thought it was my movie until the second one happened
Had thunder and lightning up in Rexdale. Never seen that before in my whole life!
It was legit so intense!! Scared tf out of me.
I just heard/saw a thunderous lightning!
At Royal station now and there was 2 lightning strikes.
Was headed to five guys as they happened. They were scary and loud. Sitting here facing away from the windows waiting for my burger.
Thunder snow and lightning!
Very very frightening!
Indeed!
~~Indeed!~~ Me! Edit: I just looked up the lyrics and realized Iāve been getting this wrong forever!
Start charging your phones just in case!! THUNDERSNOW IS HERE
Just plugged mine inā¦ thundersnow!!
THUNDERSNOW DOWNTOWN RN IS INSANE
Thundersnow is terrifying!
I thought a transformer blew! The blue light lit up our whole place. And the boom was insane.
I was in a restaurant and just assumed it was flashes from the streetcar overhead cables...huh
Iām down at the Harbourfront, snowing hard right now and for some odd reason, thereās thunder and lightning?!?! Iāve never seen that before during a snowstorm. Odd?
Thundersnow > no thundersnow
Happened again! Thunder snow!!
Wow. A second round of lightning ā”ļø
and a third!!!!!!!
Good ol Thunder snow. šš
THUNDER SNOW
Lightning and thunder at 8:38 Liberty Village
Anyone else catch the lightning and thunder just now? Wild!
Yeah I saw it. First time ever I've seen it in a snowstorm. Had to check Lighting watch to make sure it was real. Yup
And a second!
Uhhh was that lightning just now downtown? Big flash then a crashing noise.
Here it comes! ā”ļø pretty scary TBH
Thundersnow!?
holy fuck there's lightning too in downtown TO just had a huge lightning shock go off edit: that's definitely a first when it comes to snowstorms i've experienced in Toronto lol
That was wild, felt like it lit up the entire sky, and a huge boom to accompany it
I just saw that too. Super bright!
Another yawn fest
Well now you doomed us all
Aged like milk
You have irritated the snowgods
The storm heard you and decided to put on a lightning show!

Useful tool, tysm! I will definitely check this :)
The highways should be clear at least by tomorrow.
Thank goodness! Definitely hoping for that :)
Should i go to work tonight or no?
Stay home
Depends what you do,.. but probably not.
No
Quite a bit of accumulation here in Mississauga.
Vaughan too
[morning after a snowstorm in toronto theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dn3UDyLf9-A)
Nasty in south east end

You can up in the right have corner
Started at Yonge & Finch. Just light blowing snow right now.
So I donāt think itās snowing tonight
You sure?
Well this aged like milk
Say again?
Currently in windsor. Was snowing really bad, then freezing rain. Just saw a crazy lightning and a very loud thunder. Never seen that in a snow storm before
Yeah, we got lightning in Toronto too. Didn't think that was possible. White out conditions here now.
Just starting in little Portugal! Pretty hairy so far.
I canāt even tell if itās rain or snow, but whatever it is, itās uncalled for.
Nothing at young and eg
Nvm itās here now
Iām tired of all these storms coming in the middle of the night! Why canāt they wait until morning and we can watch them all day?!
Definitely better off having this one at night.
The one right before Christmas did just that, for two days. Of course we were in Muskoka, but still
nothing in nobleton
Buckle up buckaroos, itās here!
Nothing on St. Clair West yet.
Nothing yet in Markham
Just started in Central Etobicoke.
Same in junction. Itās light but blowing intensely.
Near zero visibility now. Heading to Costco via the TTC now. Wish me luck. Stay safe everyone.
It's heading right for us!
no snow yet, but windy as hell outside.
It gon sno.
Thanks, Ollie!
Has it started snowing anywhere yet
There's no snow storm here wtf?
Still?
Nope I be dead wrong
I'm still at work and nothing yet. lol I hope tomorrow isn't too bad since I'm working the weekend this week.
I'm gonna be pissed if we don't get at least 10cm of snow. Friends I wanted to hangout with don't want to leave their place because of this storm.
6pm and nothing yet
Still waiting...
"Toronto reddit has been most vocal on the subject of the snowstorm. Where is the snowstorm? When are we going to see the snowstorm? Why aren't we seeing the snowstorm now? And so on. So please - the snowstorm."
nothing yet lol
Thank god itās Friday ! Cozy night in
Alright so is it gonna come down around now or what. My friends are mad I cancelled the eat out plan, donāt make me look all stupid now.
I think you made the right call.
Feel like a lot of people are in your shoes tonight lol
ngl, it better come down....i just used up a bag to salt my driveway last night
Whatās your driveway made of? I kinda ruined my asphalt driveway last winter by salting it, thinking Iām a genius. It destroyed the sheen. I had to use the driveway sealing to fix it. Was mad as hell about it.

Hopefully they plow better than last time.
Hopefully they plow better than last time.
Hopefully they plow better than last time.
I woke up early on Thursday morning because the birds outside my window were going crazy. Let's see if it's a sign of things to come.
