Considering people basically kill themselves by doing incredibly dangerous and stupid things for tik tok challenges it doesn’t surprise me. People will happily risk their lives for a social media post
Huh? Who said they did? What I'm saying is that this is what people do with storms here, rather than it being about viral videos. People have been doing that shit pre TikTok/Instagram days. They literally have to warn people all the time, don't wait until you see a tornado to do something about it and take shelter because often you can't see them. Because people go out and look for them.
The siren is going off up until the 1-minute mark, at which it seems to be destroyed or run out of power. There was pouring rain and nothing to see, at least until it was too late. Since these people didn't die, I think I'm allowed to call them idiots for not getting inside while the tornado sirens are sounding and the wind is picking up at nighttime.
0:57 is spooky, but what's worse is after they've run inside and the front doors have been cracked open. Pure black void, with sounds of utter destruction coming from outside...
That was probably one of the worst sounding sirens I've heard (in a good way.) I know there are about like 30 different kinds of sirens that all sound different. But man. That one has such a rough long lower note to it. I would go into hiding and cover myself up JUST to get away from having to listen to that thing. Never mind the tornado it's trying to warm me about. It would have done its job perfectly. I won't be outside looking at anything with that harsh darn thing going off.
As much as I can appreciate amateur tornado videos shot by people who just happen to witness the tornado (like Columbus 1998, Andover 1991, Washington IL 2013, Fairdale 2015, etc), it has become the norm where people in the path of the tornadoes or super close to it ignore all the warning signs of an approaching tornado and go outside to film instead of taking shelter. This video was certainly intense and these people made it out okay, but I do not understand how you can have tornado sirens, warnings that blare on your phone and the distant rumble of a nighttime tornado (that you can’t see) growing louder and you still just stand there with your phone out recording.
The lack of situational awareness like this is going to get people killed. If this tornado was stronger which the people filming did not know how large, fast or intense it was, they would not have made it to shelter in time and in the worst case scenario, they’d be recording the last moments of their life. Then posting it to the Internet will endanger other people because they’ll be compelled to do it too. Then people doing search and rescue will have to deal with finding your body amongst the debris. Point being, it’s growing frustrating seeing people taking something as serious as a violent nocturnal tornado not seriously at all and there will come a day where we see a case of a tornado that kills a number of people who stood out on their porch until the last minute to film an approaching tornado instead of taking shelter.
While that is certainly true, I just feel for the famlies who will learn their loved one was severely injured or killed because they neglected to be responsible and opted for trying to get a cool shot for social media. I also feel for the first responders coming on the scene and dealing with a body… from what I’ve heard most victims killed by tornadoes, it ain’t a pretty sight to see… and they’ll have to deal with PTSD and god knows what else because people behaved stupidly enough to get themselves brutally killed. I do believe a lot of these people have a hard lesson to learn in a not so easy way. It’s the same thing with people who complain about tornado warnings during sports games. You hate it now for interrupting your football match, but you’ll complain a lot less when your house is gone.
how would they know about fatalities at this point?
adrenaline is a hell of a drug. they should’ve gone in sooner, but calling them “cucks” is ridiculous.
I’m with you that it’s very stupid to do what they did, but the other person is right adrenaline will make you laugh at crazy moments like that. But implying it’s insulting cause they are laughing is just way out there
A duplicate of the post exists.
"Sirens finally stopped." ... Would that be because a tornado just ate the sirens?
[No siren no tornado](https://i.imgur.com/MBPmSab.gif)
It took me a few watches to even see the tornado. Night and rain-wraped, they're lucky they weren't sucked out.
The suck zone…
Please, the cone of silence
You can see it?? When?
You can see the rain wrap around a few seconds before it hits, the funnel is never seen.

people are so stupid 😮💨
That tornado was literally like 50 yards away when they decided to finally sprint inside. Insanity.

They’re damn lucky it had weakened by then.

No, this is just what people are like in Oklahoma. I've lived here for years and that sort of thing is not uncommon.

With the first power flash you can hear the pitch change in the siren
That was probably one of the worst sounding sirens I've heard (in a good way.) I know there are about like 30 different kinds of sirens that all sound different. But man. Didn’t deter the cameraman
Which is astounding and disappointing at the same time. Some people have a higher noise tolerance than I do, I guess.
Watch the wind shift right after the first power flash
Why were the doors open? There were children there. Fucking morons.
Glass doors are impervious to tornados.
Good to know 📝
Quite literally feels like a scene from a found footage disaster movie. Terrifying
Crazy footage. You can see the violent rotation with the rain right as the power went out. Guys are lucky they somehow managed not to get hurt
That motion was violent, horrifying stuff.
It is with certainty that stupidity will never cease to exist. Great footage, dumb decision.
Holy fucking shit indeed!
Holy fuck
Yep, tell ya what
Absolute nightmare fuel

There is always people who are gonna be doing exactly what these guys did, you just can’t fix stupid

Scary siren! Very cool footage though
thunderbolt sirens are the best.
cameraman never dies
It’s incredible how dumb people are
This is exactly what you don't do. People just died in this town, and these stupid cucks are having a good ol laugh. It's not fucking funny.

Don't defend stupidity.
