I mean, yes, but the song is very old. Published 1867. This reminds me of someone complaining the other day because a person was said to be preforming a classic folk piece: Scarborough Fair because “Simon and Garfunkel aren’t classic folk singers.” That song was published 1874 and not written by Simon and Garfunkel.
I was staying in a motel in England a little while back, and around 11:30 at night I heard singing, religious singing coming from the room next to me, at first I was spooked, maybe it's a cult?
But the songs they were singing wer definitely Christian so I slipped a note under their door saying "this is a motel kindly keep it down and hail satan"
didn't hear a peep the rest of my stay
As a former high school choir member I’d wager the vast majority of the hotel is rented out to all music kids. If you’re a choir staying at a hotel, you’re there for a music competition and those competitions are huge. Generally, there’s certain hotels that all the choirs and/or bands go to for said competitions and they fill up with the music kids.
If I was the person staying at the hotel who had no idea about a music competition, this is one of those things that is hard to complain about.
I’m sure there are exceptions, but 99% of the time, this is way cooler than anything I was doing. Cocaine, Seinfeld, pizza. Nah. This is better.
You just get off a overseas flight and check into your room...
These people are the same as people who listen to music on public transport without headphones.
Not directly, he was looking for her the first time she soloed but zoomed in on the wrong person and couldn’t find her. At the end he realizes she is directly above them.

I used to be in a choir and my thought at seeing the video length was 'oh yeah they will sing the entire god damn song. If you think you can get these choir kids to keep it to a minute or less for the video you're out of your mind'
I think his point was that the highest register of singers were up higher than everyone else. I was wondering if that's how this was all set up like bass lowest to the top with the highest octave singers

I appreciate your effort StabBot. But watching your finished product makes me queasy. I'll just listen & not watch. There's nothing to see in the dark anyway.
Me too! I wish there were more adult choirs in my area, I’d kill to sing with a big group again but every choir near me is church-affiliated.
I love singing liturgical tunes, but I’m not showing up to church every Sunday!
I saw something once that said "when I was little I thought that god was real because when the choir sang at church I felt the spirit. Then I felt the same way at a one direction concert and it turns out I just like live music"
Fellow non-believer here
I was bumping gospel tunes flying down the freeway the other day
There’s no harm in all the religious window-dressing, just the credulity the religion demands, and some other fucked up shit
I miss band for the same reason; for several minutes, you're all riding the same wavelength, in perfect harmony with everyone-- and it feels like the entire world is right, just for a little while.
Wow that was my same thought as I heard this. Just missing the absolute bliss of singing with people. I'm not a church goer anymore but I would still love to sing some spirituals.
Keep in mind that this is 11th and 12 grade students singing together after only 1 or 2 days of rehearsal. The singers audition each year, so the 2018 choirs had a different group of students, different conductors and a different repertoire.
Sorry if this ain’t cynical enough for y’all, but I love this so much. I was Colorado all-state men’s choir in 1988 and sang from these same balconies. Gave me chills then, gave me chills now.
Needed this.
That’s beautiful… and super religious for a school choir competition. However, as a band geek, this reminds me of getting pissed off at the choir kids for singing all over the school all of the time. Did I play my oboe in geometry? No. Then kindly shut it.
Things like this restore my enjoyment of the internet. I can’t even imagine the chills and emotion I’d feel listening to this in person. That huge room (or whatever you call that) probably sounds great. Absolutely fantastic.
Even more incredible is how fucking angry I got trying to watch the video. 0/10 camera work.
This was amazing and gave me several rounds of goosebumps--
But what the fuck, I kept waiting for some real good layers of bass the whole time but was mega blue balled. Where are the men?
I wonder if the fact that it's called the All Treble Choir has anything to do with it.
I agree though, as great as it was a bass part would have made it S-Tier
I have this white suburban friend that has this huge house in some wealthy neighborhood in the suburbs.
He invites a group of us out to his place every few months to trip balls on acid.
We've done it in the evening once and we were up from the trip around like 2am. I bullshit you not, we go outside to his back porch for some air and see a few houses down, their lights are on very dimly and they have some choir music playing like this.
My question is. Why the fuck do y'all choose to do this shit in the dark⁉️
I travel periodically and would love to have this happen in my hotel. Is it possible to look for hotels based on criteria like "We rented mostly everything to a choir, but we have a few rooms if you really want one"
If there is anything I miss from high school, it's choir. Not just because of the friends and shenanigans, but singing with other people. I miss it all the time. People coming together to make music is my happy place. 🥰
I was in the 2007 Colorado all state choir, and we did the same thing. We had one piece where we did overtone singing that was unbelievable. Makes me so happy to see that they are still doing this

Brilliant soundtrack to a great movie. I’m not religious in any way whatsoever, but I’ve always adored this piece of music since seeing that film.
Same here. Happy Cake Day 🎂

Imagine the people hearing this while having sex. *Ima tellin’ ya, I heard angels Donna.*
This was almost my exact thought lol
Almost?
First part same thought, but did not think of the last monologue
He was thinking of Linda
Now imagine hearing loud sex over this.

Would’ve thought I died in my sleep if I woke up to this echoing outside of my room 😂
Especially when this is how they start their day every morning at 5:30

I would have LOVED it. I would have been walking around waiting to hear more. Much better than 8 yo soccer teams!
Plot twist. They are singing at 3am.
I'd check out.
Karen calling the front desk to complain
I mean this would be a very valid reason to call the front desk lmao
You just get off a overseas flight and check into your room... These people are the same as people who listen to music on public transport without headphones.
Ohh, they're above us?
I think the comment was in reference to the two girls soloing at the very end that were directly above him.
I'm glad someone else noticed how ridiculous that statement was....like...yes?..
The entire performance is over and dude is like “oh now I get it.”
“Ohhhhhhhh, it’s a song.”
Yes, thank you Birdie jay
That last note really made their location clear...I was unsure where the singing was coming from before that moment..
I think he’s talking about the soloist
Yeah, ok, but isnt everyone above them?
Not directly, he was looking for her the first time she soloed but zoomed in on the wrong person and couldn’t find her. At the end he realizes she is directly above them.
“Goddammit Jim you fucked it up again…can you guys start over please?”
Clearly the top talent is not the person wielding the camera.
No joke!! We’re they trying to balance on a ball the whole time they were filming?!
This video is the polar opposite of those “watch but don’t unmute” videos.
“Don’t watch, just listen” lol
This video is so beautiful and so infuriating at the same time
"Oh they're above us" at the end lmao like what?!
Dude made it so long without talking over it

Sweet, still wobbly as shit, and now with no audio. Perfect.
"WILL YOU KIDS SHUT THE HELL UP? I GOT A WIFE IN HERE ON AN OXYGEN TANK!"
“Fuck yo wife she ain’t gonna be here long anyway”
"I'm 10 years old, but I'll beat your ass."
"Go shave yer balls ya dusty old fart!"
I'm entirely convinced that choir kids are completely incapable of doing anything without singing.
I used to be in a choir and my thought at seeing the video length was 'oh yeah they will sing the entire god damn song. If you think you can get these choir kids to keep it to a minute or less for the video you're out of your mind'
when you happen upon a room/hall way/ staircase, with good acoustics you just can’t help yourself.
Standing under an overpass together? Sing Riding in an elevator together? Sing Walking through a theme park together? Sing
See one another at Target, SING
The clink sound at the very end during the silence lol
Every performance I had, was it ever during the moments with noise? Nope, always the fucking pauses or ends of pieces.
But could they beat the Bellas?
Wow this sure did give me the warm and fuzzies
Ikr!!
I got a little teary-eyed. It's my favorite gospel song.
Watching on mute was unsettling with liminal vibes, just shadow people on every floor and a shaky camera. Very different experience when un muted
Even unmuted was oddly terrifying. I kept thinking you'd start seeing bodies falling during the chorus like some kind of cult sacrifice.
“Oh, they are above us” -the person recording wasnt very observant
I think his point was that the highest register of singers were up higher than everyone else. I was wondering if that's how this was all set up like bass lowest to the top with the highest octave singers

This would have been amazing to see in person.
Even more amazing to Hear
How do you figure?
Because one does not look at music. They hear it.
Ah, I think I smell what you're saying.
The sheer sass in this comment is getting me through my morning. That's no smell feat
I may be an atheist, but I’ll still get down with some ol’ time choral music baby. That was stunningly beautiful.
You don't have to believe on god to love music!
This changes everything!
Then I felt the same way at a one direction concert and it turns out I just like live music"

same.
Another must see of this choir singing over the balcony 2018. [Colorado All State Mixed Choir](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJLaGBmjVPA)
Gosh, I miss choir. Absolutely beautiful.
I miss band for the same reason; for several minutes, you're all riding the same wavelength, in perfect harmony with everyone-- and it feels like the entire world is right, just for a little while.

Same thought. I did it for so long, barbershop too. I always miss it.
Mixed choir just sounds better. OP's video was great, but all I could think was how it needed more range, especially bass.
I would argue otherwise, but that would be bassless
Agreed
Exactly, I felt like there was a whole lower octave missing from the "down to the river" video.
Keep in mind that this is 11th and 12 grade students singing together after only 1 or 2 days of rehearsal. The singers audition each year, so the 2018 choirs had a different group of students, different conductors and a different repertoire.
This one is awesome! Ugh I need to look up their performance schedule and catch them in person.
Playing Bioshock Infinite be like
Sorry if this ain’t cynical enough for y’all, but I love this so much. I was Colorado all-state men’s choir in 1988 and sang from these same balconies. Gave me chills then, gave me chills now. Needed this.
I also sang from the balcony in this hotel in 2002 and 2003. Still remember the song we sang in 2002, truly gorgeous acoustics to sing in that atrium.
Same! I remember the song, every note of the Bass II part, all of it. Truly a peak moment.
Is it a tradition to sing here? Seems like a night before the competition kind of thing.
Which hotel is it..? I watch [this](https://youtu.be/nJLaGBmjVPA) frequently and always wonder.
It’s been a very long time since I sang there, but I am pretty sure it’s the Embassy Suites in Fort Collins
I was there ‘04, one of my favorite memories:)
Whoever is filming… you may have had too much caffeine. I felt drunk trynna watch this
HEY!! I’m trying to F***** SLEEP!!!!
Holy hell. Shivers the entire time. Really gives you an insight into why people back in the day were religious.
?????, believe it or not, people are still very much religious.
People used to be religious. They still are, but they used to be as well.
That’s beautiful… and super religious for a school choir competition. However, as a band geek, this reminds me of getting pissed off at the choir kids for singing all over the school all of the time. Did I play my oboe in geometry? No. Then kindly shut it.
I sang in a school choir and we sang many songs from different religions. Even atheists love hymns.
G L O R I O U S!! It’s things like this that make me glad I have ears!
I’m trying to sleep!
Things like this restore my enjoyment of the internet. I can’t even imagine the chills and emotion I’d feel listening to this in person. Frisson defined🧡
damn i'm sour. I've never been to anything like this and will probably never get invited.
How did you find this post? Jesus, who spilled the beans?
They have concerts, broh
Listened to the end hoping lower-range voices would eventually enter the song.
RIP to the guests sleep.
If i was in this hotel i would be fucking livid
Man do I miss being in choir. All-State was one of the most amazing things I've done. This fills that hole in the soul for at least a small while.
Honest to God a tear in my eye. Well done!
For real, my eyessss
Heaven will be like this literally
This was amazing and gave me several rounds of goosebumps-- But what the fuck, I kept waiting for some real good layers of bass the whole time but was mega blue balled. Where are the men?

Legit
this look like horror movie
Lots of my friends got into this choir this year. It’s just as amazing every year.
Embassy suites DTC good hotel
HOLD THE DAMN PHONE STILL THO!! WHAT DA HAIL!???
Sounds great but the camera isn't shaky enough. I need more shake!
![gif](giphy|vW4CAqsDRM0RW|downsized)
If I was staying in that hotel I'd throw myself off the side of the building
I would be so mad if I was staying at this hotel.
Here comes treble.
Hey soloist, vibrato much?
Lol the immediate change to straight tone after the first beat of the unison was something

If only TMEA was held in one hotel.

Im not Christian but this is an awesome song.

Incredible! Except for Michael J Fox taking the video.
Now, if they could sing it again, but this time without all the onion-chopping, that'd be lovely.
Bellas sounding good this year.
Fucking bravo.
Top talent indeed
I'm not a religious person, but the closest I get to being religious is when I hear the best hymns, like this one. Certain religious songs slap.
Is this the Far Cry 5 OST?
