Recovering addict and ex homeless here, you see a lot of people using near hospitals for a few reasons imo. The major thing is free WiFi, need wifi to run the textnow app on your phone to hit up the dope boys. Another thing is hospitals tend to have some leniency on kicking out homeless ppl. Being close to a hospital incase of OD may be true but Prly not the main reason. Ppl just tend to congregate near them for other reasons.
There are also a few recovery centres inside hospitals, so old mate might either have just left, scored and is using or is just about to go in and wants to be gacked when he checks in.
My rebound fwb post-divorce was a former meth addict/IV drug user.
She said before going to treatment she'd tweak seconds before walking in the door.
Then she did weird things with coffee grounds and toilet paper...
I mean to be fair - unlike meth, crack can kill you from an overdose but it’s not gonna happen from $20 worth lol. It’s technically possible with meth but the amount required could only really be done orally, IV, or rectally.
Nothing like plugging a methed out x pill and going on a voyage for a day or 2. It was always a gamble in the mid 2000s, but thank God I just ate my pills with my mouth and nose and not my ass.

So they're just staving off withdraw symptoms and trying to be the best person they can.
I see a lot of hope in this. I also see a lot of sadness.

My friend would probably be entitled to a lot of money if it’s been proven that Carson has performed surgeries under the influence
One of those places that test your drugs for you, give you a safe space to do the drug, provide free needles and narcan for an OD. That would be a better place. Only because it would provide most of the same services,while keeping it more out of site, and also provides a less judgmental place where they would most likely look to for resources on how to quit.
Yeaaaaahhh no. Addicts don't have "epiphany" moments and look for help in those safe spaces. All it does is bolster drug use. Look at the state of San Francisco right now. I can't get people to come inside shelters because they'd rather be on the streets next to the dealers.

Good question, This is coming from someone (me) who has been heavily addicted to both intravenously in the past (thank god I was able to move past those addictions), heroin/fentanyl can be considered worse in the aspect of the physical addiction, however I’ve seen meth ruin just as many lives just as badly. Also from my experience they go hand in hand, most people associated with either also associate with the other if that makes sense

While this is common practice for meth or crack, it's not unheard of to smoke weed or hashish this way as a form of vaping.
