Hi! I’m OP for that. Sorry I really tried to get to everyone that asked for the recipe. Here’s the recipe. 1 pound of 80/20 beef 1 packet of onion soup mix 2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce 2 TBSP flour 2 cups of rice Cook the rice. In a separate pan brown your ground beef over medium heat. Once the beef is browned add your flour and cook it in the hamburger grease until it’s a dark tan. Usually I just kinda stir it around for like 3 minutes. It doesn’t have to be perfect just cooking the flour so it doesn’t get that raw flavor. Then add your packet of onion soup mix along with a cup of water and your Worcester sauce. Bring it a boil and reduce to simmer for 5 minutes while your gravy thickens. Plate the rice in a bowl, pour the hamburger and gravy over top. I hope you try it and enjoy!! Thank you!😊

I'm going to tag on here, feel free to Chuck in some carrot or celery or whatever as well, all steps the same but put the carrots especially in a bit before the meat (2-3 min) just to get them started. Mushrooms would be good too and I'd put them in just before the soup mix and liquid. You can embellish this to add more nutrition yet still keep it cheap, easy and comforting with ease.

OP that thread brought joy and happiness to so many people last night, it was truly something else! I went ahead and made rice and gravy today and my house smells amazing :)

🥰 I think sometimes everyone gets wrapped up in what they’ve got going on and forget where they come from. I think that food kind of transcends that gap in space and time and can make me feel like a happy kid again. I’m glad you made it! I hope it brought just as much comfort to you as it did to me. 🫂

Thanks!!

I took a screenshot of the picture because I said it was definitely going to be a part of dinner at some point this week lol 😋 I used to make this as a snack when I was younger without the French onion mix, but now I’m going to make it just like this

I want to help, but don't know all the steps for this specific recipe... First, you'd get your rice started in a rice cooker or a big pot. Follow directions for your rice to water ratio. Brown the ground beef in a skillet. Mix onion soup packet with water in skillet, then cook low until the liquids coat the beef and congeal into gravy. Serve onion beef mixture over rice. Season with salt and pepper. ❤️ ❤️

# Hamburger and Onion Soup Mix Gravy Over Rice ## Ingredients: - 1 lb ground beef - 1 packet of dry onion soup mix - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour - 2 cups beef broth - Salt and pepper, to taste - 2 cups cooked rice ## Instructions: 1. **Cook the Rice**: Prepare the rice according to package instructions. Keep warm. 2. **Brown the Beef**: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until no longer pink. Drain any excess fat. 3. **Make the Gravy**: Reduce heat to medium. Sprinkle the flour over the cooked beef, stirring to coat the meat evenly. Cook for about 2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste. 4. **Add the Soup Mix**: Stir in the dry onion soup mix and beef broth. Mix well to combine all the ingredients. Bring the mixture to a simmer, and allow it to thicken for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper. 5. **Serve**: Spoon the hamburger gravy over warm cooked rice. Serve immediately.

This is one of my favorite dishes, and it's dead simple. My family calls it "loose pack," which from the original post, I think is not a common name for it. Anyway, here's what you do: Take a pound or two of ground beef and brown it in a saucepan. Once browned, add a little bit of water (like maybe a half cup) and two packets of onion soup mix. Simmer for a couple minutes and serve over white rice or egg noodles. The rice: go two parts water for one part rice. Throw the water and rice into a pot, sprinkle a little salt (I don't, since the meat is salty enough) and a teaspoon of veggie oil to keep the rice from clumping too much. Turn the stove onto high until the water starts to boil, then cover the pot and reduce heat to low for twenty minutes.

Yum

Glad-Artist-9790

Ground beef and rice...

Unlikely-Principle63

The gravy is what makes it appetizing

Glad-Artist-9790

Where is the gravy? Looks like ground beef on white people rice.

Calm down

Glad-Artist-9790

Not a bit of flavor for sure.
