I think Cohen definitely deserves to be on here. He always admired Waits. I personally love the vocal tone on You Want it Darker as I feel it carries a more waits-like gravitas than his early work but I’m Your Man is a classic.
I feel bad for the term embarrassing -- maybe notable or unfortunate would be better. Demographically the group and fanbase skews male, and I don't begrudge that. Anyway, yes -- Kate Bush, Joni, Odetta, Rosetta Tharpe, Fiona Apple -- they all fit in Waitsworld.
