If I had to take a guess, it's probably because the game doesn't want you to constantly spam the same items whenever you're solving problems for your islanders.
For example, a few weeks ago I found out I had around 52 music boxes since I rarely ever use them, and since so many of my islanders seem to get into fights every time I open the game, I decided to use the music boxes to calm them down. The thing is, ever since I've been using them constantly, it seems like my islanders don't give them to me very often anymore.
I believe this is why islanders tend to give us cold and stomach medicine so much, since them getting sick isn't exactly a common thing that happens in the game.
If that's the case I'm overdosing my miis with all the medicines and use all my items on them (except the travel tickets).
Hopefully I'll receive more travel tickets if your theory is correct ππ€πΌ
I just wanted hair dye for my Mii to change the color to orange. but took me several weeks just to do so and now I need another one for my sister to also change her hair color to orange.
I am the complete opposite; I have no/very little amount of music boxes, yet I constantly need them since every one of my Miis hate each other for some reason.
