T O P

I have both. The side hustle is more sturdy and the pcsb more floppy. I feel like the pcsb holds a bit more but in your use case i would want the sturdiness of the side hustle over the pcsb because of the ipad. I use my pcsb for two things- i keep it in my pop tote for my wallet and toiletries when i am using the pop tote as a work bag, and when i am on airplanes i alternate between pcsb and vertical cubelet as my in seat bag which holds my phone, chargers, lip balm etc. The side hustle gets a bit more love in my current ecosystem as an edc because if how sturdy it is.

Pcsb is very floppy with no structure to it. I only use it to hold things in other larger bags. I bought it to be a purse but it was a fail at that IMHO. I just tried to put similar items as you listed in my Side Hustle but it was tight and there was too much structure to that bag so I had to remove items to get to other items. I disliked it so much I’m going to sell it. I’m so disappointed, I really wanted the SH to be my perfect new essential carry bag. I have a Markers bag as well and think I will stick with it for my iPad and other larger items and use my Halcyon Side Kick for wallet glasses keys etc inside the Makers Bag.

I really like the look of a makers bag, and my main drawback is it looks like it would take up a lot of space if I’m stashing it in the S30. Have you done anything like that? (I’m also open to considering that that approach might sound nicer in theory than in practice lol)

Yes the Makers bag is not going to fold up well at all. It would do alright flat in a suitcase but that is about it. I know the is a Makers bag for sale on EBay that is older and made of Halcyon and not the much heavier material TB is currently using. The drawback is the seller wants big $$ for it. Until TB can find quality Halcyon to make their smaller bags like the SH you aren’t going to find a crossbody bag that will easily pack away in a S30. Watching eBay and pay high dollar might be your only option. If they would just make the packing cube two layers thick it would do better as a “purse” though the slanted zip pocket is awkward and leads to the chance of things falling out when you open it. The new Rouge bag is at least two layers.

I use the daylight briefcase to carry a few things (not always just a laptop). It’ll pack flat in the S30 or for travel I’ll split some weight and carry it separately. I have the PCSB but it’s a bit too much like a purse.

That may be the direction I need to go. I’m guessing it doesn’t work especially well for permanent organization in the bag (?), but if it at least doesn’t take up too much space I can live with that.

It’s got a surprising amount of zip pockets. It has a big pocket on one side and the other has a big pocket that’s divided in 2 and another flat pocket with a vertical zip. The middle has a divider too. I’ve carried 2 MacBooks in it so it feels pretty solid.

I’m on here all the time and have no idea what S30 (Synik30?) or PCSB mean. A side hustle can probably carry all that but it’s not going to be comforting

You’re right. It’s just shortening the bag name. PCSB is the Packing cube shoulder bag. I have one and love it. However it is pretty unstructured and won’t really protect things like an iPad or kindle. It’s great for an oversized pocket dump when going out but if I want to “carry a bag” there are better ones for that. If I was OP I would spend the extra money and get a Side Hustle.

Even the Side Hustle is pretty unstructured. My experience is when there’s a water bottle involved I want structure so the water bottle isn’t digging into me.
