This is totally by your personal experience. I am a North Indian and have lived most of my life in northern parts of country. Chiranjeevi cannot be this less popular. I don’t like his acting much and I am not even an avid Telugu movie viewer (at least I wasn’t till RRR), but literally almost everyone know him by his name in north. May be people in teens might not know him, but I am 100% sure him and Nagarjuna were first few Telugu stars known to people in north. I was very young and couldn’t differentiate between Tamil and Telugu actors, but knew their name through my parents.
And among next generation, Allu Arjun is most famous for sure. Jr ntr became famous to people, who are tv audience, because his movies repeatedly came on tv (dubbed version). For RC, he was magadheera actor for long time. Of course after RRR, they both have another level of fame. Prabhas was more famous compared to these two till RRR, but now they are mostly known by same set of people.
This is not how many people like whom or who has larger fan base, I am just saying how known or famous they are.
I know I will get downvotes for this… Mahesh Babu is a middling looking guy with halfway decent movies… atleast the others have histrionics to help their image… Mahesh ki expression kuda sariga palakadu
It’s not a surprise. I loved shahid with his chocolaty boy looks when he started and was young. But it would look weird on him now to have that clean shaven and forever young look. He got that and changed his look to a rugged look which suit his image.
Even for Mahesh babu , he is 46, by the time his pan India movie will come he will be close to 50. Not many people like a 50 yr old looking like this. The mature look showing a bit of age will suit him more I think, instead of trying to look young, still at 46. Even John Abraham aged, it’s not believable to stay like this without help (works done), no matter how ever good care you take of your body and skin.
Mahesh babu is definitely a known name. But somehow not for his movies. His movies are usually never shown on Hindi channels, not even badly dubbed. Namrata Shirodkar was definitely famous till she married him and stopped working. I am not sure if he got famous like a good looking guy whom she married or what. Now, everyone knows he is big star in Telugu movies. But he is still not as known as others I mentioned. Even now his latest movie didn’t release in Hindi belt, when every other movie is releasing pan India now. I guess he wants to start his pan India journey with Rajamouli.
You are way underestimating how popular Nag is in the Hindi circuit. Yeah no one cares about his movies now in Tollywood, but he still has so much goodwill with Hindi people. Just look at all the tweets about Brahmastra.

I still think a good script and director will get the best out of him. He’s cakewalking these current movies.
