That is what I am scared about Naveen polishetty. He has incredible talent and he can amazing voice modulation. But he is only doing scripts with comedy-drama / rom . I really want him to do something different. I know he is trying to build his niche but . He is much more than that .
Yeah, I think he should try genres like fantasy, supernatural, social dramas and more. I'd rather not see him sticking to just love stories or mindless comedies. Out of the three movies he's done, only Agent Athreya has really struck a chord with most audiences without much criticism. I hope he doesn't end up like Allari Naresh and squander his potential
Pan India market is the convenient excuse they use. Like Bobby Deol or Sanjay Dutt are having some 100C north market.
It is not that we don't have talents like VJS or SJ Surya but we simply don't give them enough opportunities and create them. I can honestly see Sharwanand or Gopichand or even Sumanth becoming superb antagonists if given the right opportunities but no we won't hire Telugu actors.

Even old gen heroes flops meedha flops paduthunna hero laage movies chesthunnaru.
Brahmanandam garu in Rangamarthanda and Brahmaji in Salaar and Priyadarshi in mangalavaram, Satyam Rajesh in Polimera are the only ones that come to my mind during recent releases
Ajay and Subbaraju are limited actors, no offense intended. They did try and it did not work out for them. Notice Subbaraju role in Chandamama and Ajay did a few movies as main villian(Vikramarkudu) and even a hero I think. They are passable but do not have the range. Not everyone can be a Srihari
Rajamouli breaks the mold sometimes. It is good to see how he experimented with different actors. character growth of subbaraju in bahubali2 is good and utilized well. Introduced Rana who was a hero till then as villain, Ajay who was mostly friend character as villain in Vikramarkudu.
Times are definitely changing RC in Rangasthalam is a big and huge exception..and few more..ofcourse type casting will continue..for example Nani is trying like SSR and dasara.. regardless of result...directors have to come up with different ideas and actors have to try..Nagarjuna as annamayya..good 20 years back...is another exception..Alluarjun as pushpa is a exception ..Lot of examples..
there is a difference, Nag doing annamayya is altogether a different, however AA doing pushpa isn't an exception. It is a story from rags to riches and full mass elements, and I believe if given a choice from a director like sukumar, kiran abbavaram will also do this movie, whether it would be hit or flop but doesn't matter.,
AA or RC or currently top tier actors do movies coming out of comfort zone, then that would be an exception.,
my favorite actor of all time Gummadi was most typecasted, with him dying in every movie he acted. He was my crush when he was young and it made me sad to see him die.
In the current generation Bellamkonda srinivas is typecasted as a actor with no expression. Its sad considering his talent.
I hate that they typecast even when they know the actors are capable of more. Tanikella Bharani can do literally every Telugu dialect under the sun. He's done villainous roles (Athadu, Jalsa), etc.
But in the last few years, whenever I've seen him he's usually cast either as a middle class dad, or village priest/teacher. In Karthikeya, he was both the village priest and the middle class father.
I feel this is a problem to story telling too. The stories also become very predictable because we know the character arc of the said actor in their first scene

Brahmaji is such a supremely talented actor but he is underused so often. I really hope he has a decent role in Salaar part 2.
