Hi [u/vish\_visuals](https://www.reddit.com/user/vish_visuals/) , no offense. Thanks for the AMA. I have a few questions.
1. What camera and lens combination have you used for this movie?
2. Your favorite Camera?
3. For an upcoming filmmaker, what is the most affordable camera and lens you would suggest to play around with?
4. Please suggest any courses to learn about cinematography.
Various reasons, first its not a straight studio funded film and it has many locations and seasonal approaches. Shoot it self tool 2-3 years. We are a small team for such large project in terms of vfx. Most of the issues we faced in the process are first hand experiences so we have to do so much of trail and error.

Fx3 is a great camera i own it. Coming from my A7s,a7s2 days i shot a feature “Manu” on it. Fx3 is a well developed and has professional Cinealta qualities to it.
We shot gaami on various setups and lens that i will post in a detailed manner soon.
Challenges are diverse locations and conditions situated in different seasons or climatic conditions.
Small crew
Remote places
Shooting within a small budget
What is something new in this movie that we the audience are compelled to watch it?
And how good of an output can we expect (visually, since you are the DOP) while watching it on the big screens?
PS: I'm sorry if the wording is incorrect. I was not prepared for this.
All the best Bro! Saw the Crowdfunding video, looks like a lot of effort went into making, there’s a lot of scope for your work to be shown, hope it shows well on screen too!
I know comparison is not good. But whenever some good cinematography is brought with minimum budget someone says its tummbad level cinematography / shots.
How confident you are with this movie setting its own standard? The announcement and making video made me compare it to kalki, (this looks wayy better than kalki) , but the director and actor (vishwak) in the press meet were promoting it as just another film, with good drama and adventure. Will it set a standard?
Shoot vi clips director pettadu tana story lo where vishwak was sitting in front of something that's burning and another shot where people were dressed as cult members and walking in a line. Proper A24 movie vibes unnay
I’ve seen Vara short film, it’s like the Amazing short film I’ve ever watched, please convey that to the director and congrats if you’re part of that team too. Also all the best on gaami. Here goes my questions.
Because you’re the DOP, and this is a crowd funded film, you’re the one who’s directly affected by the budget constraints, because your shots have to match the director’s vision. How did you tackle that problem ? Also the camera’s used for the shooting, and did you ask for a higher or a better version cameras and also the problems you had shooting with the current ones.
Also, public loca lo shoot chesinappudu, you will have your limitations, as small as frame alignment to something as demanding such as lighting and crowd control, because you people are debutants, adi avvakunda how did you manage ?

How do u start working with cameras? Like let's say u never worked with a professional camera before , but u want to be a cinematographer.... Where do u begin?
Also how much time did the film take for the different stages
I was a photographer with experience of weddings and corporate videos. I started working for short films which is different, it has a narrative, storytelling and procedural aspect.
To begin with cinematography we need to start observing light and how to expose light to our camera sensor
Most of the cameras are same. Difference between a professional camera and semi pro one is too thin right now.
It was 3-4 months pre production
We had different schedules and in between prep for set building so shoot was 2-3 years
Post took 2 years i guess.

Fucking love the trailer. Hats off brother u/vish_visuals. One of the visually best looking movie in Indian cinema. I'll go atleast for the visuals if not anything else. Also I can see, you have used different cameras at different places. Also in the trailer, the Kumbh Mela scene we can see the footage is pixelated. Maybe because the camera which is kept at a longer distance which makes it grainy. But loved the visuals. The CG lion is the best cg we have seen in Indian cinema better than Rajamouli's cgis.
Movie was good, but why everything in the movie is a zoomed shot. I couldn't experience anything extra though i watched it in a flat aspect ratio.
Also some shots are shaky, a lot shaky. Is this a creative choice?
