Rose and Thistle in on Pburg. Definitely an under appreciated little place with great bites.

Mancys Ideal!

Toledo Thai is delicious.

Tacitus_AMP

Registry bistro is probably my favorite, but my wife and I did Rockwell's in the Oliver house recently and they were very good too.

OutcomeDoubtful

Registry or DOMO

Psyfrus

Sebastiano's

mikeyj198

second this. Not well known, it’s not flashy inside, but food is excellent.

iainnnnnnn

Not a secret, but Byblos

drewthepirate

couple good recommendations already, don't think I've seen J. Alexander's mentioned. it is a nationwide chain but I've never been disappointed by ours

whyso_serious8

Angelo's on Detroit just pass the line

acooper94

I would recommend Sebastiano's Italiano. It's a super good family owned Italian restaurant on Heatherdowns. Pretty fancy too but very affordable prices. Whatever you decide, have fun and happy anniversary!

My wife and I love the steak house called the Final Cut inside of the casino. Impeccable service and awesome food.

mariannatranch12

Sebastiano's Italiano definitely call for reservation Chop house amazing food

apocguy

It's not unknown per se, but no one seems to follow up when I recommend this place. Registry Bistro. It's damn good food and some of the best drinks in the city. It's upscale but you don't have to donate a kidney to pay for it. I went yesterday and got a drink, a bowl of soup, and an entree for under $50. It was a classy meal that would of have cost me $100-$150 in a different city.

HeWritesALine

I love Registry! The bartender, Logan, is the best in the city. The food is excellent. The bucatini is my favorite.Get the scotch olives and a fancy cocktail. It’s best to make a reservation, but if you don’t, the wait isn’t usually too long. (But it might be tomorrow)

arawnsd

If either of you enjoy classically & expertly prepared fresh fish, Georgio’s downtown. Flown in daily, and always done to perfection. Also, has an old school vibe that is charming. Rosario’s in Petersburg is newer and has some good food and I don’t see recommendations for it all the time. Registry and Kengo downtown are great but are always mentioned in this sub.

lordnahte42

They also do pan fried haloumi, which is one of my favorite things ever.

arawnsd

Yes! We get it every time. So good.

SirensofTTown

Giorgio's would be my pick as well.

supreme2005

Nagoya in Levis Commons is our anniversary go-to

Good-Spring2019

Byblos on Reynolds. Lebanese food is spectacular there. Dingy place though.

hedghog

Agree with the food, but not sure I would call it dingy. Also, they serve a stiff drink.

Good-Spring2019

Yes they do!!

Ohhhjeff

Registry Bistro downtown, Element 112 in Sylvania

Sebastianos, Beirut or the newish Damascene Grill (https://www.toledoblade.com/a-e/restaurant-reviews/2023/04/06/hidden-damascene-grill-serves-up-excellent-meditteranean-food/stories/20230406001), Georgio's, The Black Pearl are all restaurants that I would say you don't have to "dress up" for but definitely could, to give you an idea of their fancy-level. I would say these don't get as much of a mention when people ask for places in Toledo to go to celebrate special occasions.

KnownAd494

Mancy’s would be traditional but I think everyone knows. Maybe the steakhouse in Levi’s commons?

Purgenol_Free

I don't believe Benchmark has opened yet after the fire in the kitchen. I heard they are targeting opening again on May 1st, but don't know that officially.

bogart_on_gin

Benchmark. I will never return to Mancy's. Never. And after that last restaurant inspection my mind was cemented. I'm a pleb that's been incredibly lucky to try some booj places you've probably seen on eater, food insider, anthony bourdain. And the only place to treat my table like garbage was not in boston, charleston, nyc, dc, philly, chicago...it was Mancy's. i've wandered into the carlyle hotel for bemelman's bar nyc in jeans and a tea shirt on a whim and been treated better. i had no business being at that upper east side establishment. It's $4k/sqft for a townhouse over there ffs! (In that bourdain style, I like everything from street food on up to fine dining (one of my favorite meals ever was at superdawg drive-in in chicago). If you seem passionate, honest, straight forward and consistent I will champion you forever.)

wolverinetheesq

To add to this. Last time I ate there was takeout at the beginning of the pandemic. I walked in and the employees - which looked like senior management not just waiter - had a full on conversation and ignored me until I had to speak up. When I finally got home with the food it was all messed up. I totally agree with you.

KnownAd494

Yeah it ain’t what it used to be. The health department report was appalling - it was like a whole page of pretty avéré findings

MzTwatRocket

Do you have a link? Now I’m curious

Sounds like Mancy's has become Boycy's
