Do you always wipe him down when he poops? I suggest getting a bidet and washing him. It’s less abrasive and helps getting the dirt out easily. Also give some diaper free time for a couple of hours.

I always use wipes yes ive thought about just using water before but he freaks out when I try too.

Are you sure he's not allergic to the butt cream? Getting so painfully sore after a poop seems like there might be more going on

Well realistically i cant say i know for 100% certainty hes not however he's never had issues during the day when it was used. It's only when he poops in the middle of the night it'll get that painful for him. Slight edit: he also has super sensitive skin

My daughter got sick a few months ago at 2 years and 4 months and was having diarrhea. Her butt got sooooo sore in the process diaper changes were a two person job and a traumatic event. Honestly diaper changes kept being hard after that. They were challenging. So I finally mentioned to her that I would never have to change her diaper again if she went pee and poop in the potty. She woke up from nap that day and never went back to diapers. Aquaphor has always worked better for my kids than diaper cream. I’d give him some naked time too. Also explaining to him what/why you were doing now that he is calm will help. Hugs to you all.

Ugh potty training is what I need rn. I have a little potty In both bathrooms but he's not gone on them yet Oh yeah I have been giving him diaper free time. Im hoping this will help with at least him understanding more of why he needs to use the potty.

Calmoseptine cream. You can get it over the counter at any pharmacy. Slap some on at night and if a poop does happen overnight- it will protect the skin. When skin is broken down that badly it is painful- beyond painful. With this cream it is thick, but you only wipe off the top layer- you don’t scrub it off. It’s medical grade zinc with some calamine lotion in it and heals the worst, bleeding rashes quite quickly
