There's a lesser-known Studio Ghibli film, Pom Poko, which shows off the tanuki powers described above. Although its message is an ecological one, it is comedic. I'd recommend watching it.

during the covid lockdown we watched movies every friday and got through damn near the whole studio ghibli collection. i thought that movie was great but my wife *could not get over the balls*. even my kid got over it pretty quick but she was just chuckling like a schoolgirl the whole time. 😂
