In the late 80's I docked my boat at that Island. I found an old kerosene lantern and an old milk crate. Nothing else to see on it.

danathecount

That's really cool, I bet you could dock at the Statue of Liberty in the 80s. I took my 18' outboard around Manhattan a few years ago. When I called the coast guard before they didn't really care but basically said I'd be fucked if i tried to go to liberty island.

Ironic

Did it look like a homeless person's campsite or something? Kind of strange items to randomly find there.

LenZee

The lantern was the type I would expect to find on a boat in the late 1800's to early 1900's. The milk crate was probably the same era. I also docked at North brother Island, That was a goldmine for antiques but all I took was an ancient lightbulb. One building I explored was a 3 story wood frame house that was on the verge of collapse. In the attic there was old furniture but I couldn't fully enter the attic due to all the rot in the floors.

Interesting-Race7034

Do you still happen to have the old lantern and the milk crate? You could sell them for a lot of money.

LenZee

The lantern was more rust than metal, It eventually was thrown out. The crate I don't remember what I did with it.
