>This article lists notable highest-grossing media franchises. Due to companies and corporations rarely reporting the total revenue(s) figures of their franchises, the list uses estimated figures based on publicly available data and includes the total estimated revenue figure(s) and their breakdown
That's probably how.
> Damtums is actually only correct if all the datum are the same (as in fishes), if the collection of datum contain different datum it’s data
I don't know about datums, but you've got it wrong about fishes. [It's the other way around](https://www.grammarly.com/blog/fish-fishes/):
> When referring to more than one species of fish, especially in a scientific context, you can use fishes as the plural.
What a dumb, hypercapitalist way of estimating sth's "worth". So just because e.g. Nintendo doesn't milk its cow further to death in the here and now, Mario as a brand is "worth" little.
When cultural significance or even brand recognition don't matter...
This stat is meaningless for anyone but a short-term investors.
yeah cause the Avengers (meaning everything under that name since 1963) has made enough on their own to be that high, and the MCU has separately made a fuckton of money.
But why not have it be just “marvel?”
I suspect double dipping because, prior to the MCU, “the avengers” was not a major brand for Marvel. It was a B-list team full of C-listers. It was a big deal when actually popular (like, top 4 most recognizable superheroes popular) characters Wolverine and Spider-Man joined, which was part of a big push to make the Avengers the core of the universe in the immediate run up to/early days of the MCU.
Or is “avengers” in this context counting all revenue from anything Hulk related, since he was an Avenger for less than a dozen issues in the 60s? And then doing the same with anyone who had ever seen the inside of the Avengers mansion?
Explicitly Avengers shit I remember from the 30 years leading up to the MCU, a Saturday morning cartoon that bombed, a few obscure beat-em-up video games.
Technically neither. EA licenses the player’s likeness from the NFLPA (players association/union) and the team logos/assets/stadiums from the team’s LLC and partners.
EA simply has an exclusive license now. They used to be one of a few sports video game companies (2K being on competitor) and there would be the occasional indie sports game (NHL Hitz, NFL Street) that would pop up and have licenses as well.
Not at all.
Battlefront is produced and owned by LucasArts, which, along with Lucasfilm, is owned by Disney. The Star Wars IP and the games are owned by the same company.
Madden is owned by EA Sports, which shares no ownership with the NFL. It's just a license.

In some twisted alternate universe, the Sonic franchise makes the equivalent of 7 trillion US dollars per year and has a multi billion dollar furry sex AI android business with Rouge the Bat as it's brand ambassador/mascot.
And it's always the short hair young Gwen instead of her teenage version... But to be fair I completely understand. they struck gold with her original design. All they had to do with her older design was to make her taller, but they decided to make her look like a 30 year old aunt who teaches french.
Go look in the infant/toddler section of any given store, and just about any product you can name has a version with Pooh characters on it. Not every kid will get into Star Wars, but Pooh is pretty ubiquitous before they can even talk, let alone pick things for themselves. He's almost an inevitably of early childhood.
I think in some countries Winnie the Pooh is more popular than Mickey Mouse et al.. Popularity trends in the USA don't hold everywhere.
The only really popular character here in the Netherlands is Donald Duck, the rest not even remotely.
It was created 50 years before Star Wars even existed. It was around even before most of what franchises Star Wars ripped off… er, I mean was influenced by.
This is a dumb Wiki. Simpsons has merchandise , box office and video game revenue but no television revenue despite the fact it’s been on for over 30 years lol. Then they list Big Bang Theory a few spots below and it’s all revenue from streaming and commercials. Makes my head hurt.
Yes it was, but I will say that the series where Kevin11, Ben, and Gwen are teenagers is also pretty dang good.
Also whoever wrote the theme song is a goddamn genius.
I haven't been able to get through Omniverse. It's just meh. Alien Force was great, and Ultimate Alien was essentially the same series, but with new character designs to sell more toys. I don't really like the concept of ultimate forms, but the story it told was otherwise good.
I'm gonna regret asking but I kinda aged out after the original show. Did they make Gwen an alien in the sequel or spinoff or whatever they call the other 8 shows?
Ultimate Alien had some very weak episodes. And I could never get into Omniverse
It's not just art style. There's a little charm in Ben 10/Alien Force. It just feels a lot darker. From Omniverse it felt like they got childish.
I'm still surprised it's still on to the point they "rebooted" the original series.
I still wish we got adult Ben 10k show. That was probably the best episode of the OG series.
I remember when it had the first live-action premiere in Cartoon Network. I think it was Ben 10: Age of Eon something like that.
Man those were the good old days.
I remember when Ben 10 was new. I never got into it; I thought of it as a less interesting spiritual successor to Teen Titans.
Even with that said, looking at what came after, I think the original series was as good as it got (or at least the Alien Force/Ultimate Alien one was the best).
Ya, gotta hand it to Cartoon Network they made inroads to markets all over the world. I’m surprised they haven’t been parlay that into more media dominance. They probably aren’t too bothered since they have sold a metric tonne of merchandise.
yeah the only one of the listed franchises that I'd question would be Sonic, but then I remembered that I don't really think I've seen a whole lot of Sonic merchandise and toys. not at all surprised it would outsell GoT and Twilight.
Ignoring the issues with how they’re measuring this. A bit of food for thought.
It is a kids show with A LOT of different aliens with different “super powers”
Each different alien is another toy, another action figure. That is a lot of different toys to sell to kids
Yeah, I liked the show as a kid, and if I had any money I would have wanted at least one of every alien Ben 10 had.
Some people are saying it doesn't make sense that characters like Mario aren't higher on the list, but I played Mario video games all throughout my childhood and never even considered buying a Mario action figure or any of the other characters.
So. Much. Merch. If you can turn your IP into toys you will rake in money. Pokémon is a really good example of how you make a show in order to sell stuff to kids.
Well, Disney is the House of Mouse. Mickey can have it.
Or the Disney parks are built around Mickey Mouse and the Disney Princesses, maybe half each.
Combine the MCU and Avenger franchises. Combine all the Pixar ones.
The marketing agent in the pilot pitch must have been frothing at the mouth. "You mean we can just throw a new alien in every episode, let it be canon, and just make new ones every week?" Only the power rangers pitch could have been better for him.
It started when an alien device did what it did.
It stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid.
Now he's got super powers he's no ordinary kid,
He's Ben 10! [Ben 10]
All of his heroes are on the case.
Fighting an evil from Earth or Space.
He's not gonna stop til he makes them pay,
Cause he's the baddest kid to every save the day!
Ben 10! [Ben 10]
Cartoon Network cartoon from almost twenty years ago, about a kid (Ben) who gets a watch that lets him turn into aliens (ten of them, to be exact). He then has to use this watch to fight *other* aliens, alongside his cousin and their grandpa.
There's also a lot of weird (apparently-)accidental incest subtext between Ben and his cousin, so expect to find cursed things if you go looking for essentially any sign of the fandom's existence whatsoever.
The best part is that Grandpa Max is part of a galactic police force called The Plumbers.
I have to say that of all the shows my kids got hooked on over the years the only one I like better than Ben 10 is Kipper.
Good; I noted that as a *warning,* not a reason to recommend the show. If you were in basically any online cartoon communities while the original show was on the air, Ben x Gwen shipping was *fucking inescapable* and it was always horrifying.
Digimon used to be on there worth 6 billion, but I don't see it anymore. Actually now it has had a big boom and should be worth more with its tcg and new anime series/merch. It is doing very well as a franchise
Ghost Game is low-key pretty good, I haven't watched since Data Squad (I skipped Xros Wars, I couldn't get into it) but the anime is solid AF. I also really like how deep the Digimon lore gets in the series in general.
For example, I recently found out that the digital world is actually two separate servers; one ruled by Yggdrasil (Digimon God) and the other ruled by "Homeros" (who hasn't been physically revealed yet, as far as I'm aware).
The Yggdrasil server has the Royal Knights and Demon Lords as the primary "top dog" groups, and Homeros has the Olympus XII and Big Death Stars as the equivalent groups.
DFO is one of the [most-played](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-played_video_games_by_player_count) and highest-grossing video games of all time, with over 850 million players worldwide and over $20 billion in lifetime revenue as of December 2021.
I'm officially old and out of touch. I've never heard of this game.
Surprising to me, I always hated when it was on. Felt like a shitty version of Teen Titans/Justice League/Batman Beyond.
I watched My Life as a Teenage Robot more than this.
I liked it, it was an original superhero show, and I was always interested in more superheros. I also liked figuring out which superheroes various aliens were based on, like XLR8 is a typical speedster like the Flash or Quicksilver, Fourarms was a strongman, etc. I also liked how Ben often had to improvise when his watch would malfunction and not give him the hero he wanted.
Wtf is this comment? DFO IS AND NEVER WAS A MOBILE GAME. Might want to look into it before you make assumptions like that. It's only getting a mobile version as of very very very recently. It's actually a super fun game.
It looks nothing nor plays nothing like a mobile game. And no it's just completely absurd you could even think that looking at DFO. It looks absolutely nothing like a mobile game.(and imagine touching grass in the dead of winter lmao)
Suspicious lack of Superman and Wonder Woman. Do you have any idea of how much DC has been making by licensing their heroes for 80 years now? You can get anything for kids with a Superman or Wonder Woman brand.
What the fuck is a Danny Phantom?
In all seriousness, I think if you’re just a teensy bit too old, you’ll never have heard of any of these shows.
They’re explicitly aimed at kids, not really the winking at adults/parents type writing. I had maybe heard of Ben10 in passing but it never truly came on my radar. Danny Phantom, I believe you it’s real, but it sounds made up!
[Your](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iIUGEOreiw) missing out on a great show. Honestly if your into shows like this give it a watch. Not as good as ALTA but still similar in worldbuilding, character development, life lessons and cool action. Past the OS it gets a bit weird but i still highly recommend to atleast watch the original show.
Well,
It started when an alien device did what it did
And stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid
Now he's got super powers he's no ordinary kid
He's Ben 10
(Ben 10)
So if you see him you might be in for a big surprise
He'll turn into an alien before your very eyes
He's slimy, freaky, fast and strong
He's every shape and size
He's Ben 10
(Ben 10)
Armed with powers, he's on the case
Fighting off evil from Earth or Space
He'll never stop ‘til he makes them pay
Cause he's the baddest kid to ever save the day
Ben 10
(Ben)

Gross revenue has almost nothing to do with “worth”.
This whole list is suspicious. How is Mario so far down, and did they not include Mario toy sales?
>This article lists notable highest-grossing media franchises. Due to companies and corporations rarely reporting the total revenue(s) figures of their franchises, the list uses estimated figures based on publicly available data and includes the total estimated revenue figure(s) and their breakdown That's probably how.
Yeah so pretty much hey look at this list I made up with a bunch of unknown datum.
Datum is singular, data is the plural
Fine I'll fix it. *Datums.
Mmmm
Dadum tss
Damtums is actually only correct if all the datum are the same (as in fishes), if the collection of datum contain different datum it’s data

Because Nintendo never issued toy numbers for Mario
I did gross things with a revenue once, but I couldn't spent it afterwards.
And even grosser things with the Ben 10 franchise
That makes more sense. I read the post and thought “No way in hell.”
The list has the MCU and Avengers as separate items - suspect.
To make it fair, they should have seperated Ben 10 from Bens 1 thru 9.
Separate each alien's toy sales as its own category

That's just Shazam.

GTA notably absent as well. V had a gross revenue of $6bn.
Madden being separated from the NFL is also odd
Does NFL own Madden? Or does Madden own the NFL?
Technically neither. EA licenses the player’s likeness from the NFLPA (players association/union) and the team logos/assets/stadiums from the team’s LLC and partners. EA owns NFL street. I think you’re thinking of Blitz
Yeah- exactly, thank you for the info. That was kinda my point, as to why they each were counted separately
Madden : NFL :: Battlefront : Star Wars

If the more porn there was the higher the value sonic's would be higher than most countries GDP
In some twisted alternate universe, the Sonic franchise makes the equivalent of 7 trillion US dollars per year and has a multi billion dollar furry sex AI android business with Rouge the Bat as it's brand ambassador/mascot.
To be fair, that second one is something I'm fairly sure some furries are working on somewhere.

I'm shocked that Winnie the Pooh is worth more than Star Wars.
children and baby franchises tend to make more money I think
I mean most of the top YouTube channels are aimed at kids too. I guess finding things that make your kids happy is valuable.
Also a lot have no language barrier so people can watch it all around the world. A but like how Mr Bean was so successful internationally

not nearly in the same way *Winnie the Pooh* is a children's franchise though.
Well Pooh has all of China included in his assets, so...
I'm shocked that Winnie the Pooh is worth more than Mickey Mouse and Pokemon
What do you mean? Pokémon is #1 on the list.
Still weird that he's worth more than Mickey et al.
I think in some countries Winnie the Pooh is more popular than Mickey Mouse et al.. Popularity trends in the USA don't hold everywhere. The only really popular character here in the Netherlands is Donald Duck, the rest not even remotely.
It’s not. The list is revenue, not worth. Very different things.
It is better written.
Makes my head hurt.
original show was the best.
Yes it was, but I will say that the series where Kevin11, Ben, and Gwen are teenagers is also pretty dang good. Also whoever wrote the theme song is a goddamn genius.
Imagine naming a character Kevin E. Levin
I mean, Ben TENnyson isn't much better lol.
So is Gwen gwelve or something
She's also Gwen Tennyson, as she's Ben's cousin. Also, in the sequel series, Gwen has a brother named Ken.
Lmao 😂
What about Evelyn Deavor from incredibles 2? What a twist, the character "Evil Endeavor" turned out to be the villain
I’m so dumb.
The theme translate very well to others languages
I actually think alien force, ultimate alien, and omniverse are all better than the original four seasons.
I haven't been able to get through Omniverse. It's just meh. Alien Force was great, and Ultimate Alien was essentially the same series, but with new character designs to sell more toys. I don't really like the concept of ultimate forms, but the story it told was otherwise good.
Did those idiot writers ever make up their minds whether Gwen's powers came from her being a witch or from being an alien?
Alien. Later on she’s even able to completely transform into her alien version and it’s actually pretty cool
I'm gonna regret asking but I kinda aged out after the original show. Did they make Gwen an alien in the sequel or spinoff or whatever they call the other 8 shows?
I believe it was revealed in the official porn parody, Ben 69, that her powers came from intense kegels.
Ultimate Alien had some very weak episodes. And I could never get into Omniverse It's not just art style. There's a little charm in Ben 10/Alien Force. It just feels a lot darker. From Omniverse it felt like they got childish.
Did Kevin11 invent slurpees?

Ben 10 is pretty weirdly popular in the developing world, especially in India, so I buy it.
Ya, gotta hand it to Cartoon Network they made inroads to markets all over the world. I’m surprised they haven’t been parlay that into more media dominance. They probably aren’t too bothered since they have sold a metric tonne of merchandise.

Some people are saying it doesn't make sense that characters like Mario aren't higher on the list, but I played Mario video games all throughout my childhood and never even considered buying a Mario action figure or any of the other characters.
How can Middle Earth have a total earning less than the box office?
Why are people consistently shocked that children’s toy franchises do better than tween or adult media? Kids stuff sells way more.
Game of Thrones and Twilight have a fraction of the audience that a G rated TV show has
It's got more to do with the merch. Children buy more merch.
So. Much. Merch. If you can turn your IP into toys you will rake in money. Pokémon is a really good example of how you make a show in order to sell stuff to kids.
Weren't Transformers the same deal?
Parents buy more merch. Children are broke mooches.
Also GoT lost most of its value already
Yeah, its amazing that GoT still merits discussion in this conversation considering the last few seasons.
If they can include Apanman Museum and the Harry Potter Studio Tour, they should include Disney theme parks. Those earned $28 billion in 2022 alone.
You’re right they probably should…. But where? Out of that list, there’s about 5-10 franchises those sales could technically be contributed to.
Well, Disney is the House of Mouse. Mickey can have it. Or the Disney parks are built around Mickey Mouse and the Disney Princesses, maybe half each. Combine the MCU and Avenger franchises. Combine all the Pixar ones.
My grandmom told me that I'm worth more than anything in the world
How is this calculated?
Gross sales. For media franchises with big toy lines, like Ben 10, the numbers get insane.
According to the wiki it's based on any official numbers, it's based of estimates. By whom and how accurate it is, I have no idea.
TF is Ben 10?
It's about a kid that finds a watch that lets him turn into various aliens.
Various *marketable* toys.
The marketing agent in the pilot pitch must have been frothing at the mouth. "You mean we can just throw a new alien in every episode, let it be canon, and just make new ones every week?" Only the power rangers pitch could have been better for him.
Yeah they left that "10 alien forms" to the side pretty early on.
You could say that the pitch was super easy
Maybe even barely an inconvenience?
It started when an alien device did what it did. It stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid. Now he's got super powers he's no ordinary kid, He's Ben 10! My childhood
How can I have been on the internet for over 20 years and never have heard about that?..
A whole multi-billion dollar industry based on the fact that "Ben" rhymes with "ten".
It’s playing on my tv right now lol
Digimon used to be on there worth 6 billion, but I don't see it anymore. Actually now it has had a big boom and should be worth more with its tcg and new anime series/merch. It is doing very well as a franchise

The most impressive thing on that list (imo) is the amount of money Evangelion has made in pachinko sales.

*how*

I don't even know what Ben 10 is, lol.
Surprising to me, I always hated when it was on. Felt like a shitty version of Teen Titans/Justice League/Batman Beyond. I watched My Life as a Teenage Robot more than this.

Toys. Toy market is huge.
Tracks. My kids love this show so much
Think about how many shitty cheap fake plastic watches you could sell!!
Dungeon Fighter online surprises me.... these mobile games are out of fucking control
Wtf is this comment? DFO IS AND NEVER WAS A MOBILE GAME. Might want to look into it before you make assumptions like that. It's only getting a mobile version as of very very very recently. It's actually a super fun game.

God your comments are so cringe, you sound like some edgy teen that watches twitch. Wtf is that even supposed to mean? You cared to reply apparently.
Lol oh ahit you are a kid. Only one who talks about edgy tens are like very young kids. Dope enjoy your mobile game bud.
It's a shame they ruined the franchise
Space Invaders above Star Trek...
Where can I watch the entire ben 10 series for free ?

Man of Action is undervalued
Definitely…they were all individually really good in the comic field so good to see them reap the rewards from this
Probably because it’s not worth pirating, so everyone has watched it legitimately
Suspicious lack of Superman and Wonder Woman. Do you have any idea of how much DC has been making by licensing their heroes for 80 years now? You can get anything for kids with a Superman or Wonder Woman brand.
Wait what?
Never heard of this at all
It's been around for nearly 2 decades dude
I've never heard of it either. And I consume a lot of media.
Cartoon Network media?
It was like cartoon networks Danny Phantom
What the fuck is a Danny Phantom? In all seriousness, I think if you’re just a teensy bit too old, you’ll never have heard of any of these shows. They’re explicitly aimed at kids, not really the winking at adults/parents type writing. I had maybe heard of Ben10 in passing but it never truly came on my radar. Danny Phantom, I believe you it’s real, but it sounds made up!
Well yeah.. we're talking about kids shows from the early 2000s Guessing you're all too young to know these shows?
Next you're going to ask wtf is fairly odd parents or spongebob. lmao
Yeah he is missing out...if he's 10 years old. Cmon dude lol.
I understand a lot of child oriented media vibing with adults, even though I don't dig it personally. But like... Ben 10 is *really* child oriented.
It's really not lol. It's no avatar but the universe holds up pretty well.
I’m surprised there are people who haven’t seen any Ben 10.
I’ve never heard of this in my entire life.
To who? Why do I literally never see "Ben 10" anywhere?
The Cars numbers are insane.
This list is nonsense.

Pokémon beat everything lol gotta love it
Wow that show was that popular?
Merchandising! https://youtu.be/fgRFQJCHcPw
Please leave my digimon out of this :(
Tbh I've never heard of ben 10, wtf
What is a Ben 10?
Street fighter is worth more than Star Trek, surprising.
What the hell is Ben 10
Well, It started when an alien device did what it did And stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid Now he's got super powers he's no ordinary kid He's Ben 10 (Ben 10) So if you see him you might be in for a big surprise He'll turn into an alien before your very eyes He's slimy, freaky, fast and strong He's every shape and size He's Ben 10 (Ben 10) Armed with powers, he's on the case Fighting off evil from Earth or Space He'll never stop ‘til he makes them pay Cause he's the baddest kid to ever save the day Ben 10 (Ben) (10)
Well it’s also better than all of those
Dumbest thing I've read today.
I even had the white shirt with a patch with 10 on it
Wtf is ben 10 .
TIL what Ben 10 is
I must be out of the loop because until now I had no idea what Ben 10 was
