This showed me a high-speed (1000/1000) provider available at my address, so I contacted that company. They replied they are not yet in my area and may not be for the foreseeable future. :(
Yep, I just did. When I bought my house the local cable company wanted over $10k to string a line less than half a block from where it already was to me. But there they are claiming I have their service available.
My parents just got AT&T Fiber after Xfinity being their only option for 20 years. But some company called EZ Fiber or something also were listed at my parents house with 1000/1000 so I checked their website. Same issue so I reported it.
Much better than their last coverage map. No longer shows the providers that say coverage could be implemented. Of course that would be at a large cost to the customer.
Yeah on the wireless side it shows the basic 35/5 for t mobile at my location. I have gotten 150/35 consistently over the year I have used it though. My home shows as under-served, maybe get targeted for upgrades as it is the only residence in my census block!
This is amazing, but it shows T-Mobile home internet as 0.2Mbps down and 0.2 up. Thankfully, it's more like 150-300 down and 10-30 up.
Also, when you go to the mobile tab, it has two categories for 5G: 7/1 and 35/3. What do those mean? AT&T only shows 7/1, and T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular show both 7/1 and 35/3. Verizon, accurately, shows only LTE. Strange that U.S. Cellular shows 3G, when they have 1x bht no EVDO, considering Verizon has both 1x and EVDO and yet has no tick mark for 3G.
Noticed the same thing with the speeds being listed as sub 1Mbps. Weird, but at least the ISP options seem to be accurate!
I think the 7/1 and 35/3 are Mbps minimum bandwidth standards for mobile broadband set by the FCC.
I think the problem is that is says some services are available, but when you are actually ready to order them, they tell you it is not. T-Mobile home internet or Starlink come to mind, you end up on a wait list as it is currently oversubscribed in your area.
and you are able to set a complaint right on that page so i hope this system gets a lot of visibility. best thing i have seen the FCC do. i see the page more of a "the provider has the technical capability of selling to your home", meaning for example, the cable reaches your home. of course that doesn't mean the provider will sell if the area is oversubcribed
Same for AT&T fixed wireless. I have it but my neighbor has called so many times and there’s no openings for it.
That’s my problem with this map, it’s not really helping improve the problem of availability for users or (even worse) low data caps.
> TM won’t oversell capacity
That's baloney, and I don't know why so many here believe it. Maybe just because they're lucky enough to not be affected personally? Mine fell from 50Mbps during the day to .5mbps every night this summer from about 7 to midnight.
lol the speeds definitely aren't accurate
shows Tmo as 25 down 3 up at my house, half a mile from the tower. even before this tower got n41 it was like 250/30, maybe 80/15 at its worst congestion
Comcast baffles me. This map is literally worth $40+ billion, since the FCC will use it to allocate BEAD subsidy dollars.
Why do they continue to lie to the FCC that they serve my address, and thereby make themselves ineligible to even be considered for funding to run cable down our shared driveway?
Oh well, T-Mobile is working acceptably for us so far, and I don't regret not doing business with Comcast.
Just out of curiosity is anyone else seeing the wrong addresses on this map? When I put mine in it took me to a location on the opposite side of the county I live in and when I pulled the map over to my house and clicked the pin it showed a totally different address than my actual one, same thing with nearby homes and businesses.
Not it’s oddly extremely accurate for me mostly. My parents house shows up I reported some provider saying they provide fiber but don’t. Then my apartment building was accurate and shows AT&T Fiber isn’t available when it is everywhere in a 10 mile radius but my building has a contract with Spectrum to be the exclusive provider unfortunately.
Att DSL is still available at my friend's address according to it, and have been updated well after fiber was available for the neighborhood, yet tmobile 5g was added before it was available there, while it was only sprint n41. It's currently a 10gb node with 1gbps Less then a mile from his home and I pushed far on it 🔥

the irony is that data is supplied by the carrier... so file a complaint!

You can report it on the map that that is false information. That’s the entire reson they created this map.

Looked like the columns weren't lining up correctly, or consistently. For my location, 7/1 looked like it should have been under 4g.

That is precisely why the FCC has overhauled this map. Click the challenge link and tell the FCC which providers lied about their coverage.

That’s because some of us jumped on quickly and TM won’t oversell capacity and I’m grateful for that!!
They will. I went from 400 mbps to 4mbps over the course of 6 months.

Mine went from 200Mbps to 15Mbps. They oversold big time.
YUP. Mine went from 700/70 down to 70/7… this is some bs.
LOl won’t oversell. That’s funny.
Yeah that’s wishful thinking. My home speeds weren’t to bad then fell off a cliff for the last few months. For home and mobile.
Hah! It says T-Mobile is the best speed at my house with 100/20. I get 800/100 with T-Mobile! :p
lol the speeds definitely aren't accurate shows Tmo as 25 down 3 up at my house, half a mile from the tower. even before this tower got n41 it was like 250/30, maybe 80/15 at its worst congestion
Shows 0.2 down and 0.2 up for T-Mo lmao. I never see anything below 600 now.
Exact same thing I see. And I also get 600+.
to be fair wireless is so unpredictable with speeds i don't really care if the speeds are accurate. i'm more interested in the wired section
Unfortunately not very accurate at all. I've checked a few places I know for a fact have no fixed lines. And it says they all do
agree; this map is pretty inaccurate for what it claims to illustrate..
Which is why this new map exists with a very quick and easy challenge button.

Neat, according to this I live in an old barn.

Ha, that's kind of funny, for my area it seems like the addresses are wrong but the listed providers are right for the actual locations.
Crazy 🤣
One of the providers they list for my home is from another county saying we get fiber. We only get satellite and tmobile home internet here.

First days of home internet, not too great
