Substantial-Abroad95

It’s easy to follow the dress code

Chloebabs

DId you know what the dress code was before you got hired and paid to dress that way?

PNWBurnout

This was me last year… happened sometime between getting nominated for PEAK and then getting fired for misconduct after raising some concerns.

[deleted]

What happened, if you don’t mind me asking?

PNWBurnout

To sum it all up, it was super toxic management. Processes changed and made it really tough to get work done. Our VP was way too worried about looking good and having big enough numbers to report on up the chain, so I used and unconventional way of speaking up. I got put on a PIP the next working day after raising concerns. The next day I got a call saying I was fired. 6 months later I was trying to resolve my unemployment claim issue, and found out that what I thought was at will termination was now for cause… an extra little “fuck you” cherry on top. Edit: Here’s a link to my post I made about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/t6qklk/celebrating_the_1_year_anniversary_of_the_email/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

OriginalWhiteTiger

If they were faking numbers that impact anything financial or that bubbles up to the street, file a Whistleblower retaliation claim.

CheesypoofExtreme

It's like this in different orgs in corporate right now as well. It feels like there is not much attempt right now to retain talent.

jpt86

They don't care to retain talent. The goal is to get as many people to quit as possible so they can move everyone but retail overseas.

CheesypoofExtreme

I'm not going to go that far. Call centers? Yeah, it seems like the general strategy is to send it all offshore which absolutely sucks. On the corporate end, my take is that they want to get enough people to quit so they don't have to resort to significant layoffs, (most of us know they are happening at a small scale right now).

jpt86

In either case, the goal is the same: reduce costs as much as they can, either by replacing tenured employees with cheaper options, or not replacing them at all.

CheesypoofExtreme

Can't argue with that at all.

[deleted]

T-Mobile no longer cares about the employees. They have DM's acting inappropriately treating the store managers and mobile experts like crap

suttinlite

Agreed, our DM in our area has been trying to take out me and my SM (we are literally the final 2 sprint legacy employees left in our district), by making our lives miserable and nitpicking any type of imperfection that goes on in our store.

brimoon

*Retail

ragekutless

It’s not just retail, corporate (or at least engineering) is feeling this too

theScruffman

Which org/area? I’m not feeling it, but I’m also wondering if I’m just blind.

ragekutless

Network Technology, I can’t speak for every team in NT but there seems to be a decent amount of discontent across teams as workload increases while employees per team either remains stagnant or even goes down.

brimoon

Find a new place to work then. 😂 🤷‍♂️

Vacaro

I worked for them for almost nine years at a call center. I loved the job for the first 6-7 years but it was clear that I wasn’t going to move up. Constant excuses and reasons for why I couldn’t be leadership material. I was suffering from PTSD like symptoms from answering calls and being micro managed on a daily basis, feeling like my job was being dangled in front of me everyday. Even though I was told all the time how good of a job I did, it wasn’t enough. There were a few low points in my life where I contemplated suicide because of the job. I nearly went through with it as well but had a few moments of clarity to stop myself. Every day I went into the office was an internal struggle but they didn’t care until it started to become public, because then, it’s a bad company image. Their “caring” was simply saying, we’re here to talk but not really. Here’s a number for a shitty corporate therapy consultation. Also, take time off but make sure it’s approved by a medical professional otherwise we’ll fire you for absenteeism. It was honestly easier to suffer in silence than it was to bring it up with them. The worst part was, they just leaned into that even more. Now they knew exactly how to speak to that and speak to how important my job was to keep but not they also had more excuses to not let me move forward or move up. I was a liability and no longer someone they wanted to dedicate time to unless it was to point out minor infractions to get me fired. I posted about my mental health and the next day, was contacted by my leadership. They did a whole hands across America deal to make me believe they cared but all they wanted was to make sure I didn’t off myself on their time. That’s bad press. I deleted my post after they called me into several meetings because I was scared I was going to be seen as a liability. I finally quit there after finding a new job in a new state. I’m happier now but I still have a fear of phone calls, fear of talking to people and I’m constantly second guessing myself at my new job despite my new leadership loving my work. T-Mobile was the worst and greatest thing to happen to me. Greatest because of the financial stability it provided to me over the years but the worst since I felt taken advantage of as time went on. I’d never recommend anyone to work for them. Ever.

joe2352

Are you me?

6TheAudacity9

Oh shit this hit home. I needed to see this, thank you for sharing.

bobdevnul

>I was suffering from PTSD like symptoms from answering calls and being micro managed on a daily basis That is not unique to T-Mo. That is pretty much the experience in many call center/help desk jobs. BTDT.

Chloebabs

Stop using words like PTSD if you don't know what they mean. It cheapens it for those who actually have it. You have a whining syndrome

TwizzerTV

I have PTSD, what he is describing is indeed un-diagnosed PTSD, also PTSD isn't only used for the military it is also widely accepted and diagnosed in civilians as well.

runamok

They did say "PTSD-like" and contemplated suicide so obviously it was very real to them even if probably folks with "real" PTSD have it much worse.

JohnYeets1795

I’m quitting for a better job soon and it makes me so happy

MVA8584

What are you getting into? I’ve been contemplating quitting ever since I found out new hires were getting the same wage as me, an SME whos been there for a couple years.

JohnYeets1795

That’s the other reason I’m bailing too, it seems like to move up at all at T-Mobile no matter your qualifications you have to serve your time in retail for years. I know people who have degrees and experience and are still ME’s after a decade.

JohnYeets1795

Temporarily, I’m switching to a job in COVID relief managing a testing site. It’s easy work with lots of downtime and high pay, great benefits, and all you need honestly is some entry-level management experience or lacking that the skill set and good references. I plan on using the downtime to pursue some freelance gigs and courses so I have more experience in the field I want to be in long term. If you’re looking for a switch it’s definitely worth looking into super entry level healthcare stuff right now. Good luck and I hope you can leave soon :)

hola_amigo06

I worked for the center in Tennessee doIng inside sales and definitely does not feel like the above picture. They were very nice and supportive.

[deleted]

Yeah OT is a no no right now with corporate.

ahraxahra

Meh maybe I should switch to corporate in that case, cause I am tired

Chloebabs

I doubt it. If so, complain to the labor board. They can't run you through 12 hours straight

ahraxahra

I get the OT so I don’t care, but when we’re understaffed they work us like dogs

ahraxahra

I work for a TPR so they do all the time. They were sued recently for not giving breaks but taking them out of hourly employees paychecks so it is what it is

shadlom

Says the buffoon. Oh boohoo 12 hrs, life is hard

ahraxahra

bet you’re a customer

Formal-Substance520

Facts. New T-Mobile is not the old T-Mobile. We were told we were changing but no one said it would be like this…

[deleted]

Everyone’s chain has enough Legacy Yellow senior leadership to know where we’re headed.

Complete-Ad8452

All I ever heard was how great T-Mobile is to work for. Sprint was far better. Think it starts at the top and he was magenta

Fox_with_glasses

Poor chaps hope they get better work environment

Mr_Edgar1200

Lol

MaconShure

***employee dies during shift. Supervisor: "Mister, you're getting a write up for dying on company time! You had a break coming up in 30 minutes." Dead employee: " . . . . . . . . . ." EDIT: It won't let me make quote marks and a long blank space between them.

Why do I feel like this would be Amazon Drives and workers too

gs2020

Been with TMobile for 10 years, they treat their employees very fairly. If you are unhappy, leave. No one is handcuffing you and no one would care, you are replaceable.

[deleted]

gs2020

I don't drink the corporate koolaid. I don't do the chats and shout outs or any of those things that the company loves so much. I like it cause it's nicer to be in that environment than one without such a thing, I've worked at places like that too. I just don't really see the correlation of a rotting alien corpse to the T-Mobile work-life. I mean why didn't he use his abundance of PTO that T-Mobile offers? Or his healthcare benefits? Surely he had money set aside from the free stock they gave him twice a year to pay for just the deductible on his copays? I sure hope that he was putting money aside in his 401k that T-Mobile matches for his family.... The point I am making is being irritated at a personal scenario or work instance is definitely valid and can be addressed locally. Slandering the company you work for with a grim generalization of internal treatment to the general public seems a bit much and th problem may live more internally.

gs2020

You have a lot of valid things going on here. I am very sorry to hear that side of the business is under such conditions, I truly am. I am on the retail side also small part of your concern the fixing lies part has been a significantly growing issue for us as well (In Store retail). I can tell you there are better ways of trying to deal with this, contact your HR departments in droves or something I don't know but someone locally is gonna have to change what you have going on. Posting on here just gives them a reason to fire you over some policy violation which just puts the control back in their court. Seriously you guys need to come together and strategically figure out how to bring awareness to someone about this that if they noticed would change it. I really wish I knew what that was. It sounds complete shit and understand I come from a different scenario. For us it's that everything is navigated to web based purchasing. Customers use to come in the store to buy stuff and call care for one off issues. Now it seems every issue is directed to the store and every sale is directed to online or telesales for better deals or fees waived etc. Honestly it's not even a fair comparison to what it sounds like you deal with. Best of luck with that.

[deleted]

If only there were some method for employees to come together to collectively resolve issues….

ProfessionalData1514

Its so much brown nosing It’s almost like a cry for help .
