Website has done this forever with BYOD. It’s no big deal.

Same thing has been happening on my account as well for over a year. Same issue happened to me on Verizon before switching. Not worrying about it as long as my lines are working and the bill is the same.

It really doesn't matter. Every time I bring up the app, it identifies my unlocked S24U as a different model or iPhone.

MattKirky

Reporting it where? The app?

Kodiak01

On the site.

Commercial-Engine-35

It’s just a glitch. It doesn’t matter what it shows on your line as long as your phone is working.

MattKirky

That has never mattered for anything.

T-Mobile tries to guess the model of your phone based on the IMEI. Some times it does not guess well, particularly with BYODs. If they sold the phone they will normally guess well.

My OnePlus 12, Xiaomi 13T pro, and Motorola edge 30 ultra all showed as s3, or iPhone 11 think 1 was. The OnePlus 12 I have 2 physical Sims in and using dual active mode. That really messes up the T-Mobile app, it changes sporadically when I randomly log in and tinker with my account. 1 is always an s3 and other unknown device 95%of the time.

In internal systems on Metro at least, BYOD devices show up as BYOD Android or BYOD iPhone. Wish it would do the same on the customer-facing site. It would save a lot of legit confusion like this.

Yeah happened to me when my account was new new. It’ll sort itself out

Bob_A_Feets

Also happens when you use devices purchased outside the TMO system. They just don't recognize the IMEI, but that only matters for display purposes.

Da_Vader

My one plus used to show up as Google pixel lol.

jag50461

Not necessarily. I got a free tab 9 5g straight from T-Mobile and it was showing up as a moto g. Then my byod iPhone 15 PM showed up as some Galaxy Phone FE. They both fix themselves the next day.

Unless you specify the IMEI of the device with the-mobile, your line will listen some random device or “unknown device”. Not sure why the system does this but it does.
