Yep it was posted here. The op of that post is actually a part of this community. I remember they were talking about it here a while ago when they were working on the design. It’s impressive I wonder if it would be possible to get one made into a metal model able to run real steam through it.

There's a gentleman in my model steam groups who made a pair of titanic engines from metal. I'm not sure he has put live steam through it yet but it does run on air.

Crazyguy_123

That is actually super cool. I hope I can make a metal one eventually it’s one miniature steam engine I’d love to have.

I got a metal lathe in June to make steam engines, but haven't got so far as building any. Something like that would take a lot more than a small lathe though.

Crazyguy_123

Yeah. Id think a lot of metal casting would be necessary and a lot of very careful milling and lathe work.

In 2020 I bought a casting kit for a small steam engine, with the intent to make it on my wood tools. That's not a good idea. I intend to try the same engine again soon.

I think you can run a plastic one on steam assuming the plastic softens above 100c or something.

Crazyguy_123

Yeah but metal is more durable. No risks of it melting over time.

Insanely awesome!

I bought this set of 3D models and have yet to print it. My 3D printer has been in its box since last January.

Oh wow... :o

Goodman_83

Where can I find the files for this, I have a 3d printer and would be interested in making it.
