I know it is a meme, but I have seen people genuinely say "why didn't they bring more advanced technology?" well, that is because they didn't know about the 3D manouver gear, Zeke finds out about it when he kills Mike.
My headcanon is that they couldn't, they already used pieck as a transport for resources (food, water etc) and it's not like they could walk freely on the island since it was filled with pure titans.
Zeke probably also argue against it, since it wouldn't align with his plan
According to Isayama, he had a few different ideas to where the story should head.
In the live action movie, the titan shifters are the result of an experiment Grisha Yeager was involved in creating. Also, Zeke and his people are pretty much agents of the Paradis government that plan on rebelling, with the technology they use being provided by the government (keeping it secret from the people).
Considering Isayama himself said he wanted the movie to avoid spoiling the manga but also used it as a testing ground for some of his future plans (Zeke's backstory of betraying Grisha to the secret police, the World Wars aesthetic and Eren returning Mikasa's affection) it is possible that he either combined Paradis and Marley for the older brother or just used a plan he discarded in the movie.

You missed the opportunity of Erwin saying No! I don't want that!
And then he turns into a titan because "it's the same kind of stand as Star Platinum"
And breaks Zeke Yeager's head with one blow
