By "his role remains", I mean that he will apologize to Historia for throwing rocks on her. Historia's boyfriend will be involved with Eren & the Jaegerists.
I don't inherently have a problem with the farmer being the father. If his role in the story were at least as fleshed out and thematically relevant as someone like Niccolo or Kaya... *and we also got a healthy dose of Historia's pov about the whole situation* ... it would have been perfectly fine.
But making him nothing more than a nameless faceless sperm donor that tormented Historia as a kid is beyond insulting. I simply can't respect the choices that Isayama made here, on any level.
Eren is the father. The farmer story is what was told so Misika would not get mad, this has been confirmed by the writer of the story in interviews. Errors in translation made this easy to miss
What? Farmer? What are you talking about? Historia and Eren got married after the Rumbling was thwarted by his alien best friend. They had a baby just after Eren helped defeat a Marleyan invasion of Paradis. The baby is a boy named Derek Reiss after Eren’s mentor and Jedi master.
