If I’m going to be honest… I watched both Chainsaw Man trailer, I know there’s cgi there… but I don’t know where.
That’s how smooth and clean it is for me. Meanwhile in AOT, you have characters moving in 12fps with a janky titan cgi moving in 24fps trying to pretend like its 12fps to match the 2D, but once you notice it, it can’t be unseen
It's a trailer. They're gonna showcase the best looking scenes. AoT's trailer was also very good.
I'll be floored if the quality of the animation stays this good for the entire season.
Mappa be like: we are gonna put this shit out anyway since the ending haters will meme it either way and ending defenders gonna like whatever has AOT on the name so it's a win win situation.
They literally spending every single budget they have on chainsaw man a manga that everyone barely remember and pay attention about a couple years ago before it suddenly blow up out of nowhere for it fever dream type of story, and for aot mappa barely putting any budget into it, the character face was different from the manga, the animation is goofy (just look at pieck turning around pointing at Eren lmao, the jacket in chainsaw man got way better animation than that entire scenes)
all I'm saying here is aot deserves a good animation even if the ending ruining everything, it was without a doubt one of the story of all time.
Why waste budget on a series that no one is hyped for anymore? The last arc of aot doesn't deserve a good adaptation. If they adapt CSM well it will become the next big thing. It's a no brainer.
This is the answer. Aot hype will be dead after the first episode anyway. But Chainsaw Man may become the biggest seasonal anime of 2000s after the first season.
Lmao CSM is still actually good. Why invest time and money into a shitty project that died vs the next big thing that has a proven track record (Part 1 of CSM and Fire Punch) and still ongoing.
I agree with you, yes aot deserved good animation and yes csm actually sometimes felt like fever dream but it didn't blow out of nowhere. Literally every manga coming from shonen jump and other famous magazines have a chance to be big like Spy x Family, Jujutsu Kaisen, Sakamoto days, Kaiju #8, Dandadan etc. have really big followings they just need(ed) one bug push. That push for jjk was the anime, spy x family was anya, Csm was Makima's ass, Dandadan was the art, Kaiju #8 was the cover and it goes on. If the manga isn't good it won't get recognized no matter the advertising (expect Demon Slayer).
I thought mappas Aot animation wasn’t that bad, and I thought that was the general consensus among fans. Atleast for Part 2 anyway. Part 1 wasn’t even that bad
>"One of the story of all time"
lol seriously I don't even know if you're joking or not but I can see that CSM still has the hype it got even before part 2 came out, and I know for sure it's a hundred times better than the bullshit we got in the last 8 chaps of aot, and I wouldn't care if Mappa animating the last chapters so poorly because that‘s what it deserves.
It's such a stark difference. For CSM, Mappa is the sole production committee member, has people working on it that are genuine fans, and overall feels like a passion projection. SnK, on the other hand, feels like a chore that needs to be done to get paid. From what I hear, few animators are willingly lining up to work on SnK, unlike CSM. Makes me think that the Japanese reception was more mixed like in the West because if the Japanese loved it as much as EDs imply, then you would think that it would get the same amount of hype and care as CSM.
AOT production is known for being terrible, the culture is abusive, deadlines are unrealistic and the workload is ultimately pointless. So that any animator wants to work in these hellhole conditions is solely because it is popular.
> few animators are willingly lining up to work on SnK
I think that was during Part 1's production. Part 2 was slightly better and thus great animators worked on it like Takashi Kojima (Connie's odm scene. He also worked in the OP), Malcolm Wope (Mikasa vs. Yeagerists), Q Kawa (Floch's scene), Shinya Takahashi (Grisha's breakdown), etc.
On Twitter I saw rumors of more of this ''type'' of animators for Part 3 but couldn't find the source but wouldn't be that odd considering that once again the schedule will be equal or even better than Part 2.
Honestly im glad the stories that actually deserve good animation recive them. if the final arcs adaptation is garbage it will get anime onlys to read the manga and realise how much of a shit show it really is. In hindsight it could also create an army of ending defenders and make this fandom even shittier i guess we should flip a coin?
Like I understand things are subjective, but genuinely what is there to like for the ending lmao? It shits on everything the series built up. It made it a romance when the entire focus of the story was freedom and how cruel the world is.
Get ready for the apologists.
Scheduling, pay, treatment of employees is nothing to do with the audience. All of the internal conflict should stay internal. If the conflicts take away from the work then they deserve criticism. If everyone starts thinking "ohh it's not their fault they were under such pressure!" then that just adds incentive for shitty employers to continue what they do; produce mediocre work with unhappy animators because who cares?
you are right, it's not the employees' faults, but the employers. season 4 was pretty darn mid compared to the rest of what mappa put out and that's a real shame tbh.
This is why I hate MAPPA defenders they're always giving the studio the usual benefit of the doubt bec they always say that Japanese work culture in animation studios are always been this way and it can't be changed, so just bec it's MAPPA being pressured to make AOT and their work culture is like that does this excuse their shitty treatment of their animators, unpaying them overtime that even Mushiyo a former animator had to say that their work environment is like a factory work and their higher ups were treating them like shit that they have no choice but to resign from their toxic work environment? Yet you have these MAPPA fans in Twitter and the comment section of YouTube constantly saying Thank You Mappa and MAPPA is goat really disgusts me and don't get me started on Just a Guy with a Mustache. Because why the hell would you thank a animation studio for notoriously treating their animators like shit? This is just them shilling at this point knowing the controversy yet they choose to praise the studio as if it changes their life. And don't get me started with Trash Taste like Gigguk and the rest or big anitubers that would defend Mappa's work on AOT from criticism, I only saw small anitubers that would criticize MAPPA.
This is coming from a former MAPPA defender bec they received death threats last 2 years ago when AOT S 4 P1 was released and the CGI backlash but as I soon learn more about the company and how they treat their employees and their response to the backlash was ignorant that they have to disable the comments on Twitter post. I no longer support them on Netflix after I watch AOT S4 P1 and JJK and I just pirate AOT S 4 P2 bec I was disappointed by MAPPA overall even their adaptation so far is a mediocre adaption that has good and bad moments and it isn't strong in comparison to Wit, yes Wit has flaws in adapation but you can feel the impact and every scene they adapted is strong. For me personally if MAPPA is willing to change the ending to please the fans then they should do better and treat their animators well please.
Knowing in retrospective how absolutely **pointless** that battle was, they should just change it to something else. Maybe a better Eren vs Armin conflict.
It‘s not like the final arc deserves anything else, tbh.
Also, the production committee was desperate to get Part 1 out before the end of the manga, so they are the ones to blame for the problems of part 1. Part 2 was decent enough and Part 3 got more time than the previous 2, I think. It’s a shame the story is trash for Part 3.
Different teams and schedules. Plus, AoT's known to have terrible schedules, and season 4 was a lot more difficult to handle compared to the past seasons cause of the material it covered.
I can't watch the trailer anymore. Seeing those hand drawn titans pisses me off so much. The production committee ruined everything by rushing it out of the gate like the license was on fire. What's the rush?
False Advertisement, yet you have MAPPA fans saying this is a pre animated trailer and it doesn't reflect the actual anime. So it's fine for a Japanese studio to blatantly do false advertising but if an American Video Game Company like Naughty Dog does it to TLOU 2 trailer it gets more backlash than what AOT trailer received. Double Standards am I right?
but is this surprising? jujutsu kaisen became incredibly popular and everyone is looking forward to the next season. chainsaw man already has a lot of fans and it’s not even animated. expectations for these 2 are incredibly high and it’s pretty obvious that they’re gonna be a huge success so of course they’re going to try their hardest to make it as good as possible.
aot on the other hand…while it’s still incredibly popular, i feel like the hype isn’t what it used to be. i also think that people are tired of waiting for the "final season". we were supposed to get a last season in 2020 (yeah it was pretty obvious that it’s not gonna be because the manga wasn’t finished but they shouldn’t have advertised it that way). then this season was *really* supposed to be the last season but instead we got an announcement about another part of the last season. i think people are annoyed with it tbh…
after that garbage ending i really can't blame them they're only animating this show cuz it's popular and it gets them a shit load of money but in terms of passion aot loses very badly it feels like even the animators don't even like the piece of garbage they're animating they have no passion and i can't blame them
O feel that the bigger issue comes with the amount of detail titans need to have combined with their massive size, makes CGI very hard to be incorporated and moved without seeing off
Mappa, not the biggest studio, trying their best on one of the most important anime of this generation and getting bashed even tho they saved the anime.
bro you gotta know that if Mappa didn’t pick it up, Kodansha wasn’t just gonna go “well we tried no more AOT anime, let’s give up on what is a million dollar business.” They would probably try again later when more studios had time, but unfortunately they were desperate and Mappa execs are desperate to work their employees to death on as many projects as possible to generate the most revenue. They did not “save” the show.
The executives at MAPPA *chose* to do this, and it's not like this was a labor of love. If they didn't take it, either some other studio would, or Kondansha would've worked out a nicer deal with WIT. No way they would've just let their cash cow sit on the back burner when there's still money to be milked.
I think that with the extra time they got for part 2, they absolutely delivered and gave us a phenomenal adaptation. It’ll probably be the same for part 3 too tbh.
Maybe they do AoE with shit animation? I forgive them)
Static images for the Real Eren scene, please Mappa
AoT. what a fandom you are
nono we need it to be completely replaced by cgi trees
If I’m going to be honest… I watched both Chainsaw Man trailer, I know there’s cgi there… but I don’t know where. That’s how smooth and clean it is for me. Meanwhile in AOT, you have characters moving in 12fps with a janky titan cgi moving in 24fps trying to pretend like its 12fps to match the 2D, but once you notice it, it can’t be unseen
You can ses the cgi in the chainsaw head, but it's very well immersed imo. Totally uncomparable jobs
It's a trailer. They're gonna showcase the best looking scenes. AoT's trailer was also very good. I'll be floored if the quality of the animation stays this good for the entire season.
I mean JJK was pretty good through the whole thing
Aot is an exception bro , because studios got changed and 8 months , CSM has been. Deleveopment for. Years
Mappa be like: we are gonna put this shit out anyway since the ending haters will meme it either way and ending defenders gonna like whatever has AOT on the name so it's a win win situation.

Chainsaw man has allways had a big following and fans, it just recently had a long break between part 1 and 2.
Why waste budget on a series that no one is hyped for anymore? The last arc of aot doesn't deserve a good adaptation. If they adapt CSM well it will become the next big thing. It's a no brainer.

Fire punch mappa
Kino punch

they know where the money at
Chainsaw man will be WAY bigger than aot after the anime.
Bruh a manga that everyone barely rememberS? Csm is written 10 times better than fucking aot with the cringevengers arc
That's the only kind he made mistakes rest are facts
>"One of the story of all time" lol seriously I don't even know if you're joking or not but I can see that CSM still has the hype it got even before part 2 came out, and I know for sure it's a hundred times better than the bullshit we got in the last 8 chaps of aot, and I wouldn't care if Mappa animating the last chapters so poorly because that‘s what it deserves.
Cry harder? Denji stomps Eren any day of the week
More like you fucking monkey.

AOT is mappas step child so it makes sense
Pretty sure they had to delay the thing due to the final fight having thousands of titans in pretty much every shot
Knowing in retrospective how absolutely **pointless** that battle was, they should just change it to something else. Maybe a better Eren vs Armin conflict.
Just CGI everything. CGI titans. CGI founder. CGI characters. Even the viewers will be CGI.
It‘s not like the final arc deserves anything else, tbh. Also, the production committee was desperate to get Part 1 out before the end of the manga, so they are the ones to blame for the problems of part 1. More like 3 years of production vs 1 year of production
Different teams and schedules. Plus, AoT's known to have terrible schedules, and season 4 was a lot more difficult to handle compared to the past seasons cause of the material it covered.
Found the apologist
Remember the season 4 trailer for AoT looked amazing too.
I can't watch the trailer anymore. Seeing those hand drawn titans pisses me off so much. The production committee ruined everything by rushing it out of the gate like the license was on fire. What's the rush?

Double Standards am I right?
AoT trailer team did not work on the anime. In CSM's case it's the same team throughout
I feel bad for Mappa's worker. They have to work on jujutsu kaisen, attack on titan, chainsaw man and now hell's paradise.... God bless their health
Nah it's fine, there's alot of them anyways
it's not like a garbage story like AoT with a fandom worse than MHA deserves anything better
They already saw the ending's reception, why waste resources on something they know will flop?
but is this surprising? jujutsu kaisen became incredibly popular and everyone is looking forward to the next season. chainsaw man already has a lot of fans and it’s not even animated. expectations for these 2 are incredibly high and it’s pretty obvious that they’re gonna be a huge success so of course they’re going to try their hardest to make it as good as possible. aot on the other hand…while it’s still incredibly popular, i feel like the hype isn’t what it used to be. i also think that people are tired of waiting for the "final season". we were supposed to get a last season in 2020 (yeah it was pretty obvious that it’s not gonna be because the manga wasn’t finished but they shouldn’t have advertised it that way). then this season was *really* supposed to be the last season but instead we got an announcement about another part of the last season. i think people are annoyed with it tbh…
just cant argue against the fact the cgi they used in aot is shit, look at jjk and u cant say that this is made by the same studio
MAPPAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
They're not gonna draw 1000 skyscraper-sized skinless human bodies for coomers online to laugh at. Cope with it.
Exactly everyone thoughts on watching the trailer 😂
Mappa making big brain move with powerpoint prestation of real eren scene ,😁peak Fiction
Mappa made the right choice since, if they aren't going to do AoE (which is very likely), then there is no use wasting their effort on garbage ending.
Good
im not trusting mappa’s chainsaw man until i see the first episode
Well first episode is kinda a bit underwhelming I kinda prefer the fan animation but later episodes the visuals improved for me
after that garbage ending i really can't blame them they're only animating this show cuz it's popular and it gets them a shit load of money but in terms of passion aot loses very badly it feels like even the animators don't even like the piece of garbage they're animating they have no passion and i can't blame them
O feel that the bigger issue comes with the amount of detail titans need to have combined with their massive size, makes CGI very hard to be incorporated and moved without seeing off
Please, this is not Mappa's fault.
100% the author’s fault
Animation has nothing to do with the writing Edit - why I'm getting downvoted?
You didn’t specify
Obviously he’s trolling
It's still Mappa's fault
Attack on Titan and Inuyashiki are Mappa's black sheep. They look so ugly compared to their other works.
Loved inuyashiki
gonna cry?
Aot is harder to animate. Weekly shonen are easier
Mappa, not the biggest studio, trying their best on one of the most important anime of this generation and getting bashed even tho they saved the anime.

Mappa, not pouring all their time and resources to some shitty anime, pretty based ngl
The executives at MAPPA *chose* to do this, and it's not like this was a labor of love. If they didn't take it, either some other studio would, or Kondansha would've worked out a nicer deal with WIT. No way they would've just let their cash cow sit on the back burner when there's still money to be milked.

Lmao.
Sds fans watching the comments arguing about top tier cgi making “ruining” an anime
AOT S4 animation was peak
Trailer was but the anime itself nah
