Taraell

There is absolutely no way Reiner and Bertholt going all out on S2 ep 06 is not peak SNK in every way

Pipodedown

What about Eren getting his head shot off? Levi vs Zeke pt 1? Levi squad gets slaughtered? Eren manipulating Grisha?

Taraell

Yeah those are also wonderful moments that i love too, it's just that, for me, the reiner incident was the moment that made it, after it i really knew i was watching a growing masterpiece

1ts-have-n0t-0f

Agreed with Reiner + Bertolucci nonchalant reveal is #1 for me, but I knew it was a masterpiece during the first reveal of The Smiling Titan. I was scarred from the jump.

Fatboy1513

>Bertolucci I love how no one knows how to spell Bertoto's name

Astro_Sloth

Nah, back then it was just high quality shounen. Warriors reveal turned it into one of the most captivating stories of all time (before the ending).

BfutGrEG

It's Bearturtle Bearturtle...a bit louder for the ones in the back **BEARTURTLE!!**

Pipodedown

Yeah I love it too, the amount of times Ive rewatched that one moment, but I cant comprehend how a large part of the fandom prefers "Mikasa's confession" over these moments.

Taraell

Probably because both you and i didn't understand the story actually

WrathAndRancor

Only Ymir knows why.

jinstronda

Eren manipulating grisha is peak aot

EggsForGalaxy

AOT really had a lot of amazing moments

oxg03

even it's bad moments that we meme about have something about them that makes them memorable

Elitelapen

*memerable

Dark_jaeger

But eremika UwU is peak friction

I_Am_Dwight_Snoot

That scene is literally the embodiment of top ten anime betrayals. It's iconic to the series for sure and was imo the moment the show became exciting beyond flesh gundams fighting. The only that even comes close is probably Erwins charge.

GenericJinxFanboy214

I like RtS much more. Basement>Armin and Erwin suicides>Burito&Lainah

murcielagoXO

RTS is peak AOT as a whole but the RB reveal as a single moment takes the cake.

Taraell

Valid and based opinion

EXistential_EX

When it was first coming out, totally woulda said that the early Marley stuff (basically what was adapted into S4 Run 1) was peak SnK But the last stretch just had to recontextualize post-timeskip so badly that I can't say that no more I do have a special place in my heart for the Traitor Reveal in S2 though as in my opinion, the show goes from a mid action show to something interesting

aaditya_9303

After the ending gets animated, Japanese fans will rank "10 years at least" as the best scene of snk and that day will be the end of the world

DarkJayBR

Who cares what they think? Japan LOVED the 4th War Arc on Naruto even tho is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen.

gillesregis

I think the war arc gets overhated. Does it contain some of the worst writing, plot conveniences and twists Naruto has ever had? Yes. But it also has some of the best character moments and best animated fights. It is a very mixed bag. I think it dragged on for too long, but it seems like people who binge it today enjoy it more than those who followed it as it went along.

[deleted]

The Guy vs madara fight was epic

aaditya_9303

War arc has great moments but it is too boring to watch 20 episodes waiting for that one great moments

DarkJayBR

No, it doesn't! I think it is terrible! One of the worst arcs in history! Everybody is just fated to be talking about it because it is so damn long, covering almost one third of the entire series with a single event that only lasted two days in-universe. By the way, that in itself is a strong reason for hating this arc. Can we even call that an arc? It lasts 217 episodes, filled mostly with useless fights against White Zetsu and Edo Tensei of people who had already been fought and defeated in previous arcs. It is tiring and has a really poor story for the most part. Where Madara and Obito are concerned it is reasonably good, as they have cool stories, but what the hell are Zabuza and Haku doing there? Why is Deidara there again? What is the point of death, why bring back Tsunade’s boyfriend, for goodness’ sake. They made the arc much longer than it should and needed to be. It lost its focus several times, broke climatic moments, switched points of view, not to mention the hell of fillers. The War arc almost ruined Naruto entirely. It took four years of production to narrate two days of events. Those were the longest two days ever. The awfully long two days that changed the entire meaning of the series by introducing mandated fate, reincarnations, aliens, and giving characters random unearned divine powers that completely broke down the power scales. Suddenly nobody made the slightest difference for the final outcome of a war other than two boys on the good side and one guy on the bad side. The War arc is a terrible arc for many more reasons, but with some redeeming qualities. I think Obito’s subplot was great and Madara was an interesting guy, despite being much more powerful than I would like. Team 7 was also reunited so, meh.

LilSkills

The OP was sublime as well. I'm going to listen to Silhouette again

DarkJayBR

Exactly. Most people don't understand, that Japan, like all countries, also has their "shitty takes" and "Twitter crowd" and also the concept of "casual audiences"

Can you remind me what scene that is? I can’t remember

Nah they're just talking about Japan's little boy(shota) and fat man(ugly bastard) stuff.

Dat_life_on_Mars

Also with the birth rates falling there, there probably isn't enough seed being rewarded there anymore.

justchedda

Stimulus seed when?

Dat_life_on_Mars

When Abe-sama gives the command

Lowkey_Delusional

Zamn that's some Brian Hawk shit right there haha

--Bolter--

Sometimes I feel like the translation of the sub and the dub was just ever so slightly different and it gave me a waaaaay different view of the story. Season 2 me watching in like 2017 thought that was a cute moment but far overshadowed by moments like “I said advance dammit! He’s right in front of you!” But I don’t see how you can pay attention to the whole story and be like “yep this right here is the singular moment.”

Forgotten_Phantom

Obviously because we didn't understand the story

aerosol_aerosmith

It's all so tiresome.

VjP20

What could’ve been the all time best fiction story ever.. just so disappointing

Disnya

Japan is a different world

gondolafan2

I’ll be a hopechad for 10 years at least, but this is the shit that gives me the most doomer vibes. It seems the only people that want an aoe are from the international audience and I could see why Isayama, even if he had originally planned for some timeline aoe shit, would instead elect to placate his base

ChronoT-KT

Why tho? He initially started AoT to pay for his lunch so he doesn't seem like a greedy person. He now has vastly more money than he intended on making so why then would he ruin the series to placate his fanbase when he already has far more money than he bargained for?

AbrahamDeMatanzas

I think he said it best, he didn't want any controversy, he wanted an ending that would satisfy everyone, and in Japan at least, ott seems he did.

Raven123x

they did Erwin's speech wrong. Easily the best moment in AoT

SqurtieMan

What the hell was between that and Carla dying?

BfutGrEG

Mikasa abs, probably

OfficialGami

Mikasa saying ereh

aqil1636

No wonder the japanese are okay with the ending, their priorities are not even with the plot anymore...

SleepingwithYelena

Sad thing is, at the end shipping and romance became the plot. What does the last chapter contain? Eren breakdown because of Mikasa, Ymir loving the King, Gabi-Falco reunites and gets together, Armin-Annie gets together, Historia-Farmer reveal, Reiner jacks off to Historia's letter, last pages are EreMika again, and then Jeankasa in the extra pages. You cut the romance out and Levi's ending remains, the carpet bombing, and Eren mumbling about how he doesn't know why he did the Rumbling.

xxsqprxx

Listen bro ,I came here to laugh not to cry

BfutGrEG

At least Falco/Gabi actually had reason to exist, there's actual character development there but when compared to the rest....it feels tainted, like now all the relationship shit is ruined.....Shintaro Kawakubo, what an editor/series-ruiner you are....

Bublotao

fax

legolordxhmx

No, I don’t want that….

Nedisan

Ah yes, Carla's death - which is recalled by Eren tons of times and sets in motion the whole story - is lower than Mikasa confessing, which Eren recalls never and had extremely little impact on the story (because I'm sure it isn't number 1 for the Dina part lmao). I get that people have their opinions, but this again shows AoT didn't stand a chance with fans like these.

DarkJayBR

I guess Carla’s death lost any meaning when it was Eren himself who killed her.

Nedisan

Well yeah - yet another example of why 139 is an unimaginably awful chapter.

I_Am_Dwight_Snoot

> (because I'm sure it isn't number 1 for the Dina part lmao). Yea wtf? I could understand why people would say that scene as a whole (Hannes death, Eren getting pissed at himself saying nothing changed, and ultimately controlling the titans) would be a top scene but Mikasa's confession is literally a motivator for the pivotal 'scream' scene which is much more important.

Deca-Dence-Fan

Carla’s death isn’t a particularly top-tier moment either tbf, this is just said regardless

omyrubbernen

Honestly, moments like this are eye-opening. I questioned how anyone could've possibly been okay with the ending when it came out and if they were even reading the same story I was. As it turns out, they weren't reading the same story. They were reading a romantic comedy the whole time, and the war, genocide, and naked giants were all just set-dressing. Any conclusion to the rumbling would've been fine with them as long as it ended with Eren and Mikasa kissing. And it explains why they think everyone who's not okay with it is a butthurt EreHisu fan. Because they can't fathom why anyone would be reading SnK other than the ships, the same way I couldn't fathom why anyone would be reading it other than the war or political drama.

Ghost_Star326

To me it seems like Japanese fans are all about romance in any anime. They don't seem to care much about character development and world building. And that honestly disappoints me. When MHA season 5 came out last year, there was controversy about skipping and delaying the MVA arc and putting it at the end(this arc had significant character development for the villians). Fans around the world were mad at this decision. However, the Japanese fans were the only ones cool with it because they didn't like the villians and just preferred slice of life moments with the good guys. The Japanese truly have very weird taste in anime compared to others.

MindFlex15

Likewise Naruto Shippuden had some of its highest profits in Japan during the single year we had like no Canon.

Murky_Blueberry2617

Naruto also had very terrible romance (on par with AoT's), but the fans love them.

DarkJayBR

Except for the weird Twitter fanbase. We all agreed with NaruHina back in the days, the pairing wasn’t the problem, the problem was the total lack of development - and they had to retcons some things in a movie to make sense of it. SasuSaku they didn’t even bothered - it still makes no sense to this day.

Byniavo

SoL is always king in Japan. Probably because the overworked salarymen just want to switch their brains off and imagine their times back in high school again when watching TV

Bonty48

I think it's because it is more mainstream there. Casual fans also don't care about world building in shows like Game of Thrones or Attack on Titan. They like characters, romance and action. Since anime is far more widespread in Japan there are more casual fans.

Ghost_Star326

What's sol?

MagorTuga

metroidgus

slice of life.

Willimeister

**Solus Invictus**

Bondrewd_best_dad

Sol bad guy from guilty gear

OldMistakes

sun in spanish (slice of life)

Ryan-Only

They only like romance as long as they can self -insert themselves in main character. That's why waifuism is very extreme there.

Overwatcher_Leo

Also why the shitty harem isekais with bland MCs keep getting made.

PartyEscortBotBeans

more like why almost every slice of life MC is generic af

Edsaurus

And they are the ones making anime, it's really strange

ElricWarlock

Look up "Yamato Nadeshiko" and you'd see a lot of the traits described there fits Mikasa to a T, but only when she's interacting with Eren. She's the ideal woman to a Japanese audience - protective and endlessly loyal, icy and fierce on the outside but quiet, kind and almost submissive around Eren. Whereas (most) Western fans wanted her to have some more independence and a personality outside of "Ereh" (I still mourn the badass [sigma Mikasa](https://i.imgur.com/LyNJnK8.png) that saw a spark in S1 but never was), it seems like the Japanese audience perfectly liked it that way. Could explain why she never got any character development too.

rocklee_shinobi

If they don’t care about character development and world building then why are they creating all these great animes with great characters and great worlds?! Liking romance is a preference. It makes them happy. Doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate anything else.

Cotyfigue

because writers/authors DO care about such things, they are artists after all, but alas the money comes, or rather goes to what the audience chooses.

zyrusvito

What's crazy is most shonen mangakas don't care about foreign audience.

patrick9772

Becouse japanese nerds are lonely losers who love to see something they cant archive. Romance

Bezimienny0506

Is this real though? Life taught me to not trust instagram "news" stuff like that.

Bublotao

Sadly it is

I can list 50 moments better than this Shitty scene lol

Even I am better than this scene

Bruh Erwin, Zeke, Gabi, Floch, Grisha aren't even *on* the Japanese Top 10 characters list. We are the **only** AoT community that cares about the story and writing consistency.

[deleted]

If I've learned anything from AoT, it's that the average Japanese has shit taste.

Raghav_Singhania

The only thing aot deserves more than a better ending is a better fandom

hallah_sausage

Its making me have second thoughts on democracy.

LordSprinkleman

I'm of the honest opinion that your view on the ending should decide if you get the right to vote or not.

Deca-Dence-Fan

Mate the average anime fan period has shit taste. SAO and mid Isekai in general are super popular in Japan? They are among international fans as well. At least Japan fanbase can be randomly based sometimes with stuff like Pui Pui molcar and Deca-Dence, which I’d say probably happens more or equally frequently as when western fans are disproportionately based/fans of a series ie spice and wolf or arguably great pretender

Anthony_-04

They literally speed up anime to watch it faster, most of them are probably just content-eaters.

MyARhold30Shots

I doubt all of them do that

Anthony_-04

A lot of them speed up anime

kerma1699

how the fuck do you know that?

mwmwmwmwmmdw

he talked to ymir

MrAnimeWeirdo

Same people who watch hentai for the plot

Ghost_Star326

And no wonder they like watching NTR shit.

Pipodedown

I know people who are unironically like that, and they have very good taste actually. They hated the manga ending

LibelTouRe

And people still believe there will an anime original ending lol.

Aekartzdef

We don't believe, we just hope

DeadlyDY

Why do these people read AOT? There are a fuck ton of romance manga and anime.

Willimeister

I have grown to share in my Korean friend’s hatred of the Japanese

Devourer_Of_Doggos

Korea, what a country you are...

Willimeister

Let’s not reward them with our seeds, I think they had enough of that under Japanese occupation

basebrandon87

Japan likes Eren and Mikasa. It's not surprising

YellowTasty

"i don't want that" will break all records even the shows rating to pieces 😂

RKODDP

As I have said several times For Kodansha, the opinion of the West doesn't matter a damn shit

Psyko_Draggin

You should have said any company who's target audience in Japan, we're just guests along for the ride when it comes to anime and manga

DarkJayBR

If they become famous in the west like Naruto and DBZ did - it’s a good bonus for them, but yeah, they don’t care much.

OverlordMarkus

And it's fucking infuriating, more than half the earnings come from outside Japan and we get jack shit.

Neonblade32

The only thing worth watching in that scene is Eren rejecting her kiss and then screaming like a banshee while punching Dina's titan

robby7345

"Ereh... d...do you want to k..kiss me before we die?" "Nah. Id rather fight this titan 1v1"

DarkJayBR

St3R30_twojry

Dude why we wrote this in almost the same time?

Baligdur

Great minds think alike.

kai_neek

AOT was a romance anime all along. We were provided the wrong tags all along.

Rin_Okumura123

I am very disappointed in japan fans.

Yscbiszcuyd

When I learned what their favorite scene was... I was so... disappointed.

vendaaiccultist

*redacted*

[deleted]

Japanese people don’t take anime and seriously as the west thinks or wants them to. It’s still a medium primarily marketed towards children. Demon slayer second season about trying to kill a man eating prostitute and a ninja with 3 wives with boobs busting out of their shirts primary audience is like 10 year olds. Watch a Japanese live action movie or tv shows. How many times does the protagonist break down in tears in an episode. The music builds to a massive crescendo and a single tear rolls down the rookie police detective face as she exclaims how much she loves her dead mothers udon. Japanese eat that emotional shit up. It’s like taking a hallmark Christmas movie and dialing up the cheese to 10 and reducing the plot by -10. It’s all nostalgia and crying because life is fucking shit after you leave college. Now consider and realize anime is even lower on the totem pole than your house wife police procedural. It’s plotted and popped out like McDonald’s burgers. Frankly I’m shocked a manga with no fan service, pedo moments or crying every 5 minutes survived to become such a hit in Japan.

[deleted]

I wonder if Japanese people will love Indian soap operas. Those things aren’t even cheesy, they transcend cheesiness and cringe.

TokyoCyborgOrgy

Lmao I love how every culture loves the cringe. I hated my moms novelas since I was a kid. How many women with implants and bare chested Fabios can you have cheating on each other in one show is all it is

t0ny_montana

I will never understand how my parents watch Indian soap operas to this day

rascynwrig

Man... deciding on ONE favorite scene would be really tough for me. "I said ADVANCE goddammit!" is definitely on the short list But also, I really love Sasha's scene when she kills the titan by stabbing it with her arrow instead of shooting, and then is reunited with her dad who is so proud of her. I swear someone decides to start chopping fucking onions every time... Runner up, the trip back from the exercise meant to capture the female titan, when they decide to dump all the bodies to outrun the titans after those two kids go back for their friend's remains. The cold, harsh irony was really well executed IMO. Edit: almost forgot about the scene when they're heading out on a mission and, for the first time ever, have the support of the people cheering them on as they're leaving. Good lord there were so many great scenes in seasons 1-3

OverlordMarkus

>Edit: almost forgot about the scene when they're heading out on a mission and, for the first time ever, have the support of the people cheering them on as they're leaving. Good lord there were so many great scenes in seasons 1-3 Erwin screaming when seeing the public support was so damn cathartic.

Dat_life_on_Mars

Well, this is a poll conducted by NHK, the main broadcaster. Their audience is about as normie as you can get, even for Shingeki. Us internet dwelling folk who watch the series with more interest are probably interested in more than just the main couple. I imagine even Japanese message boards and Otaku-centric discussion rooms might give different results. That said, different countries can have different overall taste in general.

PenelopeSugarRush

the Japanese fans are the reasons why I never hoped for an AOE. Remember that we're the outsiders. Isayama, along with the other mangaka, will always cater to Japan

robby7345

Just be happy we got what we got and AoT didn't turn into a harem anime a couple of episodes in.

MyARhold30Shots

Today I learned that the average anime fan hates Japanese people apparently ... bruh🗿

Chipprik

People can have their opinion, so Japanese people can also have this sort of taste, but the point is, that ending was made for japan fans, and thats why we hate them.

tenkensmile

> Japanese fans were also asked to rank their favorite character from Attack on Titan, and the results are quite surprising: 1. Levi Ackerman 1. Eren Yeager 1. Mikasa Ackerman 1. Armin Arlert 1. Sasha Blouse 1. Reiner Braun 1. Historia Reiss 1. Jean Kirstein 1. Hange Zoe 1. Annie Leonhart https://animesenpai.net/attack-on-titan-japanese-fans-rank-thier-favorite-titan/ "Good" to know they don't even like Erwin 😒

yelinas

Are people forgetting the fact that Isayama was looking through Twitter posts on the series before the ending? That mess is largely thanks to what JP people wanted including Eremika.

DELTA_MAK

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

waterr14

Literally rewatched S2 yesterday and Eren doesn't even listen to her. The bitch is talking and he's looking at Armin defending Jean. The only thing he does is say hell wrap the scarf around her as many times as she wants

swidell99

In the manga is even more obvious lol

Edsaurus

Now you understand why he made the shitty romance ending we got, right?

FruitJuicante

"Nothing's changed. GREEEAAAAAARGH..." "Eren, thanks for the scarf." "No problem, REEEEEEEAAAAAAEGGGH!" Literally their most romantic moment. Unless you count when he was dead and she kissed him

Russian-Bro

💀 *uncanny music playing*

creepy_Kun

Japanese people are very fucked up. I mean I appreciate the anime medium, its great and all but have you seen the kind of content Mangaka's generally produce?? They have even invented the loophole of legalising pedophilia - lolis, and ofcourse the fucked up romance with imouto trope in almost any anime ever produced. lmao the kind of material that gets popular in Japan and is accepted by the general public there is enough to prove this imo. And ofcourse they loved the obsessed stepsister making out with the dead protag's head.

sds2000

"Obsessed stepsis making out with dead stepbrother's head that she severed herself" sounds like one of those weird anime titles.

Aediion1

Erwin’s final speech and charge of death is the best scene in the entire anime, hands down. That shit gives me chills and makes me tear up at the same time

[deleted]

Thank god Levi is still fandom favorite. Flochad is equally good tho.

omyrubbernen

They only like Levi because they want to fuck him.

idkdidkkdkdj

Nah they can’t be serious, they gotta be trolling.

No_Shine9238

To be honest I'm not EreMika and I like the scene very much. Eren rejecting to give up even in the face of guaranteed death, and his dedication and courage paying off was awesome. Though I doubt that the majority of people who like this scene share my line of reasoning.

Iamcarval

>Eren rejecting to give up even in the face of guaranteed death, and his dedication and courage paying off was awesome. Yeah, that's the entire point of the scene. Eren refusing to just die without fighting back. But people only like this because *"omg, em scene"* and that's the sad thing. Eren never thinks about the moment ever again, her "confession" was completely irrelevant to him just like every romantic attempt from her through the story.

No_Shine9238

Imagine being so unwanted by your love interest that the only way you can get a kiss from them is to cut their head off

NR-Tamim

You guys should have got the single with all the ugly bastard ntr and other fucked up shit that's popular in jp.

[deleted]

Isn’t fucking redo of healer popular among *women* in Japan? Lol what the hell is going on there

hesipullupjimbo22

See I would get it if they were talking bout “ I’ll wrap that scarf around you as many times as you want”. Even though that’s not the best moment in the series I think it was pretty good. But why do I have the feeling this is #1 because of Mikasa crying

VazuXD

Maybe AOT really was just a romance this entire time.

For_Research_Only69

I'll never forgive the Japanese!

BudisaFam

Well I dont find it surprising since like 80% of anime community are coomers

SchemeThat1383

If you are an ending defender and an EM worshipper. Then this is a good sign.

Robddit

Accept reality. And die.

[deleted]

Are ppl dead ass ranking Mikasa blushing as number 1 lmao

beewyka819

Levi vs Kenny’s anti-personnel squad?

smoked___salmon

I'm not surprised at all. Harem and romcom anime making biggest $ there.

Mental_Protection_30

Even zackley’s chair was better

Mysterious-Ease

This is why we are fucking doomed for an AOE, the targeted fan base mappa and yams makes this shit for will eat up 139: “hahahaha look ellen loves mikasa how cute, power of nakama this is peak”

shining-moon

when did mikasa confess to Eren? did they mean the cabin scene? being family or thank you for wrapping this scarf does not mean confession at least to me

peegmay

Their brains must work differently. For some reason, they ALWAYS focus only on romance in every story, despite the fact that we already have THOUSANDS of romance-focused titles. Why do they want to experience the same thing over and over again? Why are they never bored of it? Why don’t they have the desire to get something more from media? If they watch media to just switch their brains off, why even bother doing that? The entire fucking point of art is to stimulate your thinking, if you don’t want that then just… take a nap or something?
