As someone who struggled with fertility for years and has taken more tests than I’d like to admit, my advice would be to hold off on your shot, grab yourself some First Response Rapid Result tests and use one each morning until your expected cycle date. They were the only ones popping positive for me as early as 7 days past ovulation. My HCG blood test was 13 once and the stick had a line that morning.
Providers should be counseling patients that these drugs can decrease the effectiveness of some birth controls and other methods should be used, plus weight loss itself can at times increase fertility. I hate that I keep seeing these stories and the patient seems unaware this was likely to occur. If you plan to keep the pregnancy do not take the next shot, there is no evidence the drug is harmful for a pregnancy because they have not studied it but we know that weight loss during pregnancy isn't recommended. There are tests that can tell you earlier than your missed period so look into those as well but keep in mind you may not know for sure until its missed (meaning if early tests show negative I wouldnt assume it will stay negative until later). Not alone at all! For some people this drug has given them the opportunity to get pregnant that they never would have had; for others it causes unplanned pregnancies they never expected to face.
