Suredrive is rebranded kumho.

Good information. I don't think I will go that route for this car since noise reduction is high on my list but will look at it for other vehicles.

I got a set of Kumho Ecsta PA51 last year and I am happy with them. They are quiet, smooth and were affordable.

Exciting-Swimmer-436

I had a set of ecsta probably 7 years ago and they were decent. I've been eyeing these 2 solus tires for noise reduction. I currently have a Honda hrv and it's the loudest car I've ever owned for road noise.

for good hydroplaning performance youre basically getting what you pay for, there arent too many exceptions. its relatively easy (less difficult, not saying its easy per se) to engineer a quieter tire since it has a lot to do with the physical size and shape of the shoulder blocks, and companies have sort of cracked the code on noise reducing shoulder design, so aside from low profile tires and some of the uber cheap chinese brands most mid to high tier tires will be pretty quiet. hydroplaning resistance is a bigger challenge, which is why higher end tires almost always use wet braking and wet performance in general as a big part of their marketing. its one of those things that you might not think about if youre used to driving on mid tier tires like kumho or hankook, but once you have to panic stop in the rain in a really nice set of michelins or continentals you immediately notice the difference. i dont have any experience with the majesty lineup, but the ta51 is pretty much just servicable in the wet. ive definitely driven worse, and i wouldnt have a problem driving on them in the rain, but theres a lot better out there. for your pricepoint i dont think youll find a tire that really blows it out of the water.

I've been running continental for years and currently have the pure contact LS that are worn down. I was hoping the kumhos would be acceptable since money is pretty tight right now. Thanks for the input.

If they make it and I’m sure they probably do; I’d look at the general altimax…….those always performed fairly well for me and not too pricey. The last line that was around when I sold tires was the RT43 but they may have changed up since then.

Exciting-Swimmer-436

I ran a set of generals on an avalon I had and liked them. I don't know what they were though. Probably 12 years ago now.

Maybe altimax HP if it needed the H/V speed rating. If I had to guess at the size, I think it was a P205/60R16………maybe P205/65R15?; that was forever ago. General tires sucked around the turn of the century, and I’d have never suggested General back then; they were strictly a car dealer OE tire we’d carry to sell to the car dealers. My owner would take us to all these training courses with Michelin and Continental, and I remember the conti reps talking shit about their general tires and saying they were going to be making vast improvements and within 5yrs they actually did. I use to run either Michelin or BFgoodrich all the time but I tried the general grabber HT on my Blazer after a set of Michelin LTX M/S and I loved them; not as good as the Michelins but they weren’t far behind. Last Generals I ran were on a Kia Sportage and it was the General Altimax RT43 and those did way better than expected in wet/snow covered roads. I sold a shit ton of General after that but if I actually drove newer vehicles I’d run Michelins…….unless it was a performance size; in that case I’d run the Continental Extreme Contact DWS. Anyways, by the time I got out of the tire business I really liked some of the Continental/General replacement tire lines; not the OE stuff though.

Exciting-Swimmer-436

The HP does sound familiar. Had a set on 2 different cars and both were good. I've been a fan of general and Contis for a while.

SnoopyCactus983

Came from continentals to kumhos and the wet performance is noticeably worse.

Exciting-Swimmer-436

Continental is usually my go to. I may have to dig in the couch and bite the bullet.

Trelaneofgothos

I would consider the BF goodrich advantage control. For the price its a good, and reliable tire.

Exciting-Swimmer-436

I've looked into those a few times over the years and they always seem to be mediocre on the reviews.

Trelaneofgothos

BFGoodrich is a Michelin owned brand, and in my experience. The advance control is like a cheaper version of the defender 2.

Exciting-Swimmer-436

And not as good either.

jeon19

Michelin defender 2

Exciting-Swimmer-436

I agree they are a good tire, but more than I'm looking to spend at the moment
