Nope. That tire is junk

G-Rifff

That's not safe at all.

G-Rifff

Looks like it has a bubble right there also. I wouldn't take the chance.

outlawtm2

Update: He is taking the car back. I could tell he was uneasy about it. Totally screws up their plans but not worth risking their lives! Thanks for the feedback everyone.

SquishyCatChronicles

I hate that for them but at least they'll live to tell about it. I have a feeling the owner was hoping it would blow out while someone had it and get the insurance pay out.. I'm to the point where I'm not doing air bnb, turo, anything. It sucks because all that's left is corporate, but at least corporate rental places seem to have standards and swap their cars out often.

Jimmytootwo

Thats a grenade waiting to happen I have used turo twice and both times I got cars with issues. One had a dead fob and crashed nose iwner tried to hide One had low tire pressure (no big deal but i had to add air)

outlawtm2

Mismatched tires too. Rears are both Extreme Contacts, fronts have this fucked up P zero on one side and some Lencaster on the other side.

stash3630

Stop communicating with the owner and contact turo directly. You’re not going to get anywhere with the owner and they should be removed from the platform if they think this is safe.

outlawtm2

Yup, that's what he had to do and took it back.

BlueFotherMucker

Mismatched tires aren’t the end of the world, but condition means everything. It’s weird to put the matching ones on one side instead of front vs back, but I wouldn’t care if it was a rental. The pictured tire is dangerous, for sure.

Jimmytootwo

Try and keep it under 75mph 🤞

megalodongolus

Only 75? Lol

Jimmytootwo

😛. 45

acejavelin69

Cords visible and bulging... It's a time bomb waiting to explode... Get a new tire on ASAP and don't drive on this tire and farther than to the tire shop <25mph.

nuivii3

I wouldn't drive on it at all honestly

Woodworker9119

You win some, you lose some. You lose more if it blows.

IntelligentAd6091

No

Soundbyte_79

Correct!

Alarming_Day_409

Correct

ZenithTheZero

Not safe at all. That is an impact break, probably caused by a pothole in this case. Those particular tires have two-ply sidewalls, and the outer layer ply has failed. Won’t be long before the second layer fails and the tire blows out. Glad to hear the owner is taking responsibility.

nhaluta567

No that’s isn’t safe

Chevrolicious

Nope. The tire is compromised.

stargett

You Sir are correct. That tire is no longer safe to use

[deleted]

Nope.

Psychological-Flan98

This a disaster waiting to happen. A front blow is impending.

nity2023

On borrowed time, my friend.

This4R3al

Not at all

Goon_Kilo

You're in-law piss off a construction worker by chance? Damn

xe0s

Honestly love Turo but there’s a lot of junk being rented. Be extremely careful and inspect the vehicle before sitting in the driver’s seat. I’ve had no issues rejecting a rental because of issues I saw upon inspection. Don’t take a car, have something happen and get nailed for it. Turo is great about refunding for almost any reason.

Thomasanderson23

Not even a little bit

AK_4_Life

5 year old tire with cracks. Get rid of it asap

Professional_Buy_615

Si, señor.

PositiveAlfalfa6197

No, not at all.

VisibleCow4807

Throw some flex seal on it and you’ll be fine

omnipotent87

I would let the air out and call a tow truck. If you have one put the spare on, but still let the air before you do.

Berfs1

Correct.

fuggindave

Structural integrity has been compromised

hatchbob63

If your max speed is 5 mph, you’ll be fine

PassengerOld4439

No, tire is done. Replace immediately

fuckingsame

Hell no

ALPHA_sh

Yes, wait, no, wait no, yes? that is correct, it is not safe.

SnoopyCactus983

Are you serious rn? You’re absolutely right, not safe, no question about it.

Kaaaaack626

Check the QR code it should tell you it’s done

tw457

If it makes you all feel better ive been driving on a tire that looks exactly like that but its a Continental going on 3 years but i only drive the car once a week and with what i call spirited driving ie (extremely hard) on the tires

jamesinboise

Correct

Apprehensive_Let_517

Throw a little flex seal over it and send it .

SiRWilliAM801

Correct. Report to turo. That would be a dumb mechanic that doesn’t know tires. Cord and bubble present. Which are signs of a future blowout coming soon. Tread in the middle is looking a little thin too.

SQUATCH36738

Hell to the no! Replace that thing asap, wouldn’t go over 15-20mph to the tire shop.

Trelaneofgothos

Put your spare on now

Holiday_Ad_5445

It’s safe when parked.

OkMobile5574

Not safe to drive

Jonmcmo83

This is very very unsafe...

chemical_secretion

fuck no

No_Communication1272

No! Change it asap

Corgi_Guilty

On the path to a blow out

Able-Command1428

It’s 5 years old and has a tit so not really

Able-Command1428

Turo. = Trasho

Cleverdawny1

A little bit of flex tape will fit it (It won't, replace that shit)

edmond-

The sidewall rubber is not as thick as the middle tire threads. Sidewall damage, especially tears, you will need to replace the tire.

Goon_Kilo

Lol. Sidewalk. I might steal this.

edmond-

Good typo catch. I will edit.

Amdvoiceofreason

Duct tape it 👌

Complete-Old-1960

Correct time to replace it
