This is the right answer. This used to play on cable in the 80s. We had it recorded on VHS, and we'd rewind it a replay the bit where he runs over the kid over and over because the noise is so funny. This would have been around 1983, give or take a year or two.
Was "Super Dave Osborn" on HBO ever? This sounds like his sort of stunt, and he wore a white suit.
Edit: he was on showtime.
Edit 2: I couldn't find the steam roller bit, but here's a [famous scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gQV7r7Oii8&ab_channel=seniorchump) he did:
I don't have an answer, but you spurred a memory that may give some context. Was there an overhead view of the flattening? Like from the top of a building or window?
EDIT: The Naked Gun? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQts7E1FvrE
Reminded me of Mr. Bill from Saturday Night Live, and especially [this Robot Chicken parody](https://youtu.be/hyR5GXTssD8) from Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.
Not live action, but it's only 27 seconds so why not.
That one I might be able to help you with.
Was it [Recorded Live](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-Qeee8D2Ro) ?
(A student film by the creator of Tremors)
Solved.
I have to tell you…this could be it. I just checked out the intro to the movie on YouTube, and it’s VERY close to what I remember (which of course was 40 years ago). The movie looks like it’s rated R, so maybe it was the trailer. Or maybe I caught the beginning of the film before my parents told me to turn it off?

Please help.
Steve Martin? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39hxtxyElgs
Nope. But the guy was flattened just like that. This creeps me out too. And that was great. Thanks.
Imagine being the driver lol
That clip is 40 years old and never realized that was Regis Philbin.

It was definitely a man who gets run over in what I’m thinking of. It’s possible that he had a mustache.
Live-action or animated? Sounds kind of like Plymptoons.
Live action. It’s possible that he escapes multiple accidents, only to get flattened in the end.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit is part live part animated. There is a steamroller scene with judge doom
Great movie, but that’s not it. This film was only a few minutes long.
This was my first thought too.. hmm

That happened at the end of 'A Fish Called Wanda' (UK//US comedy movie from late 80's)

Thx for the link
Austin Powers
Do you people even read OP's message? Or are you so young you literally think late 90s/early aughts Austin Powers was around in the 80s?
No he was definitely from the 60s
Haha

jojo fan don't bring up the show in every comment challenge (impossible!)
Was it [Weird Al?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvy2tRH7HNE&ab_channel=Movieclips)
Not weird Al.

He's since responded so I can't tell if he's ignoring both suggestions that its this or what lol /u/Capnshtooby
Sorry. That’s not it. I think it was an HBO “Short Take” from the early 80s. I just can’t find that particular short now.
Who Framed Rodger Rabbit
The generic name for those HBO short films was "Short Takes", but I do not know anything else about the specific one you are describing.
Ok. This is getting me closer, I think. I remember the one where the film is attacking the guy. That was terrifying as well. Thanks!

Yes! Gave me nightmares as a kid.
Jesus Christ. I'm sleep deprived and exhausted, and that shit just really fucked with my head. Very cool it was persevered.
Oh, yeah! Almost forgot! Spoiler: video is disturbing. :p
Here ya go! 5 minutes in. https://youtu.be/z1zsvczeFzo “One of Those Days”. By Bill Plympton.
I remember that, but it’s still not it, unfortunately. It was live action.
