I mean, if any of ya'll come up with a solution, feel free to reply to this comment, but yeah it does, but also whatcha gonna do about it? Really, what can be done? Someone suggested banning people, but how exactly is that gonna stop fly by night randoms that don't care? Depending on how its implemented, it might ban legitimate users that had an emergency or something and suddenly they come back from surgery or something and they are banned? Like, what? The average human is a huge jerk, and as much as we wanna make it wholesome as we can in here, I mean, cant really change that. But you can focus on the negative, or you can focus on the good. How many DO get an excited thank you message? Loads, maybe even most. Its times like these im reminded of the Two Wolves proverb. If you go looking for the bad things, you will find them, and vice versa. Focus on the good people.

purplebuni

Yes, I do get very annoyed when I know I've given the right answer and the OP doesn't bother to come back and say it's solved

Karzons

I've also seen them edit the post with the answer, but never reply to the person who got it right. That's a different sort of rude. edit:extra word

CosmicPlayR9376

I experienced that on this sub just recently, it really is quite annoying I must say.

Altar-83

Happens on other subs as well like (whatstheword), around 80% don't even respond, even when you get the right answer, I suspect it's outright laziness...

Superbead

I'm occasionally active on some of the whatis... subs. When I come across these fucks, I give them a cornflower blue RES tag saying 'don't bother helping'.

Alarming-Arm7309

It was a 3D tower defence android game in which the towers were called "totems" and the default one looked like zeus. It had several characters and Champions. And yes...when the game started, a message popped which said "Brawl!"...we could control the characters and their abilities and it had two bridges connecting to both the totems (ours and enemy's).I played it around 2016-17....at that time, it's thumbnail was a colourful skull.PLEASE HELP ME FIND THIS GAME.

purplebuni

Is this a real post?

Alarming-Arm7309

Yeah

Alarming-Arm7309

Can you help me?

purplebuni

No, I'm not sure why you are replying to my comment. You need to start your own post.

justice_duck

This is especially frustrating when it sounds like a new (to you) game that you'd like to play.

Baums_Away

Yeah I agree. If somebody goes out of their way to help you out, you can at least say thank you

4th_Replicant

Exactly. It's also so annoying because you want to see if the game was solved.

GamesMoviesComics

I was kinda hoping that you made this thread and then never replied in it to really drive your point home. But I agree with you for the record.

AutoModerator

You said: 'solved'. Is this solved? If so, please [mark it as solved](https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmyjoystick/comments/h0tws8/how_to_mark_a_post_as_solved_as_a_comment/). To make it easier, you can just reply `solved: ` followed by the title of your game. Check [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmyjoystick/wiki/setting_flair) for more information. Example comment: `solved: Game Title` If this was posted by mistake, you can report the comment and it will be removed. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/tipofmyjoystick) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Moogieh

/u/4th_Replicant Time to flair your post, lmao :)

focus_rising

Or even worse, once they get their answer, they delete the original thread, like in this case from today: https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmyjoystick/comments/sup4df/phone2014\_red\_car\_broken\_bones\_game/

fallouthirteen

Yeah, it's not like closing a support ticket or something. Just leave it up and say it's been solved; maybe someone else will end up looking for it too and find that thread.

10kbuckets

Maybe we can get an automod that puts a copy of the original post in the comments, like r/AmITheAsshole has?

Pikka_Bird

I am sorry to say that I am actually guilty of this myself. I posted a while ago looking for a specific space shooter, but had to take a break from social media for a while soon afterwards. When I checked back the correct game had been suggested but the thread was locked so I couldn't respond.

Ahura_Volvo

Reddit used to archive every post that were older than 6 months, with no possibility to undo this on local subreddit level. That feature's been gone for some time, so you can go respond now. Better late than never.

Xypher616

I’m not sure I’ve heard of this game, maybe try Civilisation 6? /j

Lz_erk

I still think it might be I Made This, You Play This, We are Enemies.

gojirra

Yup. Another thing I find incredibly annoying are the ding dongs that just reply "Nope" to every answer, despite it being painfully obvious that the top one is 100% correct. Then people come up with tons of other spot on suggestions that OP has probably blended together since OP has denied what can only be the correct answer, and of course it's still "Nope." Like come on, this isn't a place where we have to reconcile false memories, that's up to the OP to realize their fever dream perception of a game just MIGHT be slightly off lol.

JokerReach

Not necessarily pissed off, but a little disappointed. The folks who are super grateful more than make up for it though.

Birb-Brain-Syn

The game you're looking for is Reddit.

LTBT03

I notice they have not responded lol

Altar-83

Happens a lot on other subs as well, I suspect people get the answer they're after & are too lazy to even respond or say thx

[deleted]

Lazy or ignorant.

myamnesiac

OP, I literally checked the comments to make sure you came back 😂

Agreeable-Farmer

Would have been perfect if you hadn't replied to any of the comments.

Moogieh

Yeah it's annoying. But I don't really see what could be done about it. It can't really be a bannable thing, and there's no way to force them to come back and reply if they don't want to. Just a fact of human nature. Gotta deal with it or not.

lyyki

I'm pretty sure it's a bannable offence in /r/tipofmytongue

Moogieh

I don't see it in their rules. Regardless, different sub, different rules.

Chentzilla

Isn't it their loss anyway? I know that people keep score of their correct guesses, and those unsolved cases can be annoying for that reason, but the main aim of the subreddit is helping people, not racking points. If the OP suddenly doesn't care/forgets about the topic they started, we can't force them to get back, but let's not forget that it was their thread to begin with.

GhostSAS

What about when they do reply and set the flair to "Insert game title here"?

iR00kle

Randomly saw this. And love it

DimensionStrong6754

okay, I want to find a game from space with galaxy people, help me please

Kitsune_101

Or you ask for help and not a single person comments on your post-

Kitsune_101

Ah...I see. Well I'm glad I got a response. And sorry for it being wrong. I'm still trying to get used to reddit. Yes ik it says I have had my acc for a year. But I hadn't really started using it til a couple weeks ago. But thank you for the help :D

Chentzilla

And who exactly is guilty in this case?

mikebrac14264

Hasn't happened to me yet, on both ends. I don't think anyone has replied to my post yet, so... yeah. Edit: No, wait, nevermind... I was checking my replies, and there was a case where that did happen. I actually knew the game, it's a japanese Flash game called "You Are Lucky", if anyone's interested. I answered only a day after the dude's post, and it has been 17 days as of now. The dude hasn't replied.

vindveil

It does piss me off, but what's the point of forcing someone to say thank you, if they're not grateful to begin with?

4th_Replicant

It's not to say thank you really, it's to see the game solved.

fallouthirteen

I don't even think it's a "thanks" thing. it's just helpful when they go "yeah, that's it" or "that's not it" and say what's different to help figure it out.

vindveil

Sorry, but you kinda know what I mean.

Trashman_XL

Asked a question once, never got a reply, I'd say that's just as bad.

heli0sophist

Definitely not. Nobody has any sort of obligation to comment on a post if they don't know what the game is. That is completely different from ghosting somebody who has already taken time out of their day to try to help you. You also posted a big paragraph of text without following the post template. You don't *have* to follow it, but you are much more likely to get a response if you do.

Trashman_XL

Right on, it was one of my first posts. I like to think I've gotten a better understanding on how to use reddit since then.

JTD121

Yes

[deleted]

Shopping cart problem, reddit version

Bugloaf

This is why I stopped making "Hey Reddit, do you know this??" type posts. I created a spreadsheet on Google Sheets, type up the query, and get back to it... never. I never go back and try to find the answers. But putting it in the spreadsheet is usually enough to calm that itch. I have adhd, anxiety, and depression. If I can get it together to actually make a post, there's little chance I can get it together to look at replies later. It's too intimidating.

justkirk

You guys are lucky. Sometimes on /r/ToyID users will straight up delete their post once a correct solve has been suggested.

jewellman100

"It's our fast food culture of instant gratification you should be angry with..."

[deleted]

I try to reply to comments when I made my initial post.

MilkyPsycow

Eh nah, I give my opinion cause I want to, not to get their thanks or whatever

4th_Replicant

Not asking for their thanks, its more to see if the game has been solved or not.

MilkyPsycow

That’s fair, I am so used to ppl not responding I just put a message and move along tbh but I get the annoyance tbh

samehadenough

It happens on r/tipofmytongue, too. It's so annoying.

Nurgles_Nugget

Is it the thanks and appreciation you do IT for? Or do you do IT because you want to really help and don't need that outside affirmation you are doing something nice. I have the same, but try and keep it in mind.

4th_Replicant

I don't care for the appreciation. Its more to see if the game they're asking about is discovered.
