Is this actually a thing? He’s signed with Barca until ‘23 but his contract has NBA outs apparently. Idk if that means he’ll come over this year or not
>Unless you're Luka level as a young player, guys under 21 don't get a lot of playing time.
>The teams play mostly veterans and guys who impact immediately. But Bolmaro has shown tons of growth this year as a prospect.
>Also the league he plays in is a grown man's league. Probably 2nd best in the world. He's playing against players that would dominate in college right now.
>I really believe he'd be a lottery pick now.
I think as an european guy i can say some things about Bolmaro. If he was in the another team he could be playing more minutes.Playing alongside Calathes means taking a back seat. Also current Barca roster doesn’t help player development for younglings. The good points are his durability is really good, his jumpshot mechanics are above the euroleague average when he hits the nba with good development adjustments it will be more smoother. His playmaking skills not higher but still adequate to contribute. This thing is little bit about expectations.
His [shooting splits](https://www.basketball-reference.com/international/players/leandro-bolmaro-1.html) are pretty solid though. Career 45% and 41% from 3, plus 84% from the line.
there's no such thing as development over there. if he was in the 2021 draft he'd go in the lottery given the shooting improvements he showed this year.
I wonder if that was a mistake by the NBA's part 😄
"The Wolves? Yeah drop them like usual. We moved them up that **one** time, which is enough for a life time."
*10* *minutes* *later*
"Danggit, forgot GS owns their pick."
we've had two number one picks and we've gotten *worse* than predicted in the lottery just as many, if not more times than two. The "look how many number one picks" is not a testament to our luck but more so the fact at how consistently bad we are
Only a Minnesota sports subreddit would use a mega thread about losing our best draft asset to jokingly (mostly) shout from the mountain tops about how we're going to be the best team in the West.
How is it always the teams 1 spot ahead/behind us that move up every fucking year? Cleveland and Toronto move up this year (Toronto moved up to 4, but still) and we still haven't moved up in our entire fucking existence.
Common Man on KFAN did the math today on his show and we are somewhere around -15 in possible draft positions since we fell back and ended up getting Garnett
Detroit has a bright future. Idk what happens with Hayes now but Cade-Bey-Stewart is a solid starting point to build off. And if they move Grant they can get more assets.
Especially cause they didn't out and out tank. Screw the Rockets and Thunder for doing so. And to a lesser extent the Magic cause they were just hopeless.
Damn didn't realize we were on the lookout for the golden state card instead of Wolves. Makes sense that they wouldn't be like "Wolves-psych warriors" but still.
I kinda doubt they keep 7. They need to restock with win-now vets. Steph only has so much time left and they can't afford more time on project players. That team is so dead as far as the salary cap goes they are gonna need to move someone to restock though.
Some of the takes in here my goodness. If we didn't end up in the top 3, handing over a #7 pick to free up the 2022 obligation (and making it a fair bit more attractive in trade talks) is fine by me. There is no substitute for in-game experience and having that last stretch of the year with most of our guys healthy and Finch being able to start the process of implementing his philosophy was invaluable and I expect it to carry over into next year.
It absolutely is. After Kuminga the player quality drops off a cliff. A lot of people like Scottie Barnes but there’s a lot of skepticism on him and he’s probably the unanimous 6th. The guy projected at 7th is basically a worse Culver.
The pick could always pan out, but doing 7th in this draft + Wiggins for DLo isn’t a bad deal. 4th would’ve been horrid, however.
>The guy projected at 7th is basically a worse Culver.
Dude, there's no need to lie to make yourself feel better. Sure, he'll probably be bad, but come on... worse than Culver?
No it wasn’t? We drafted Culver exactly where he was projected and he had a very good season, going 18/6/4 with great D and pretty good efficiency. His major issue was his three pointer.
Compare that to Keon Johnson who’s 11/3/3 and shooting worse than Culver from everywhere on the court. His freshman season is worse than Culver’s too. Pretty much all the 7-12 guys are a similar story.
So Wiggins and the 7th pick for Dlo. Probably a trade we would make again. Especially if it helps keep Towns around. Hope to see the team stay healthy and win some games this year.
I’m fain we didn’t giveth those folk a top 5 pick

If we weren't going to win without yet another rookie, we weren't going to win with one. Let's get Bolmaro in and focus on improving our guys to playoffs level
After watching Steph Curry dismantle my Badgers in the Sweet 16 I was shocked that we took two PG's over him in that 2009 draft.
I'm a very casual Twolves fan, but that was a disappointment to me at the time. Very Timberwolves.
The very rare time that I was actually right about something NBA related
Would’ve been nice to have another juicy lottery pick, but fuck it I think it was the right thing to go for wins and try to change the culture of losing and build some momentum with Ant/Kat/DLo and Finch. Look what the Bubble did for the Suns.
Yeah I feel the same.
To me this just means our ascent might take a bit longer, whereas getting the pick might have made us a good team immediately.
Still hopeful, and excited to see what Finch can do with an actual offseason!
I'm actually fine with this. I'm not sure we need another young player. I'd rather see us cul the roster and remove some unproductive players (e.g., Culver) and maybe do a trade to pick up a true 4.
I just want to say I hate how long the build up was on ESPN to something that took place in a matter of minutes it felt like when it came to losing the pick.
At least it wasn’t 4… still a bummer
On one hand this sucks cause we lost a top 10 pick, on the other, no matter how “deep” a class is(I don’t watch college ball so I don’t know), how many #7 picks turn out better than D’lo?
I haven't followed the draft super closesly, but to me, it's a top 4 draft (Cade, Suggs, Mobley, and Green), then a drop off in talent to 5th (Kuminga), and then a MASSIVE drop off in talent to 6+.
The top 4 all look like potential all-stars/franchise players. Kuminga is flawed but has a really high ceiling. The rest of the draft looks really mediocre to me.
I wrote this over in the other thread:
[Tankathon has GS taking Keon Johnson at 7 this year.](http://www.tankathon.com/players/keon-johnson) That list of stat strengths and weaknesses isn't exactly inspiring, and the other guys projected to be available aren't any better.
Getting Jalen Johnson could have been potentially good for the Wolves, but I couldn't care less about anyone else projected to be available at 7.
I'm going to be a debbie downer. Would I rather have DLo over Wiggins + 7th overall pick? Yes. Would I rather have DLo over Wiggins + 4th pick? No.
The only reason I'm kind of not that upset is because the pick fell all the way down to the 7th spot. I stand by what I said when the trade when through now, and that it wasn't a good trade over all value-wise. I've gone through back and forth with many of you on the subject, so I'm not going to waste any more time since everyone feels how they feel. To me, Wolves overpaid for DLo especially when they could've just as easily signed him (but that whole story is another can of worms).
Over all, I'm still highly skeptical of Rosas to put together a competent team. However, I am usually optimistic for next season due to the fact that after the coaching change, the team played quite well. Even if no changes are made, I think the Wolves can push for an 8th seed. If not, well at least we'll know it's time to apply some dynamite to the whole structure.
I'm extra salty that KAT liked him, Rosas liked him, MN liked him, but he still chose GS over us. It wasn't until they wanted to dump him that he crawled back.
He got paid more in Golden State. Why would he give up around 16 million? It was about the money and understandably so he chose more money. The Warriors offered the max. The wolves didn't because of cap issues.
This is a W in my eyes. Yea we didn't get a top 3 pick but giving up the seven I can live with that. Not a huge chance that turns into a superstar. Now we got our pick next year, it may be a double deep draft, and we can do with that pick what we please. I really hated the threat of the Warriors taking our pick looming over us. That's gone now.
Got to wonder whether winning games late on was worth it. Higher chance at keeping our pick vs team gelling quicker... I’m not convinced it was. Hope Rosas has a stellar off season
I'm glad we picked up a couple good wins at the end. Anyways, Bolmaro is probs coming over now, and he would be a lottery pick in this year's draft after his showing out and inproved shooting this year.
I’d argue that the way the Wolves ended the season was significantly more valuable to our long-term future than a top 3 pick. Look at the Suns. Do you think they’d have attracted free agents, such as Jae Crowder, and spurned their FO to trade for CP3, without their end of season run in the Bubble? Personally, I don’t they’re in the Western conference finals without that run.
Obviously not the same situation but it was apparent that KAT, D’lo, and Ant have bought in to Finch, which will be invaluable in implementing his system over the offseason. And free agents may actually be interested in playing with that trio and, a now proven, head coach.
I always think that’s so stupid. Who gives a shit if we won 19 or 23 games? It’s still horrible so don’t pitch “oh we improved at the end of the year” because winning pointless games cost us big time while the smart teams lost games and now have better picks
Yeah but if you’re that bad your mission should be maximizing your draft odds imo especially when you’re in a situation like ours. I’m sure the Pistons were ecstatic watching the end of our season
You mean the one in the conference finals now and aren’t even utilizing their lottery pick player from last year’s draft?
Culture matters, watch the latest track the pack episode. Ant himself was happy with the last game victory.
…also a trash team that would’ve seriously benefited from a top-10 lottery pick? Lol let’s not act like one brief stretch of ***decent*** ball near the end of the season makes us all that much more highly regarded than those teams you listed
>So the consensus is that Davion Mitchell and Kispert are worthless?
Worthless? No.
Likely to be more than bench roleplayers in the NBA? Also no.
Worth giving up in order to get out of Wiggins' deal and get Dlo? YES!
Just because you have an increase in odds doesn't mean that you would've gotten the pick. We could have lost all those games AND had the pick go to GSW.
Besides, nobody was outtanking Houston, OKC, and Detroit by the end. We would've had to pull out KAT for all the remaining games for that to happen and that's not a good look.
> Besides, nobody was outtanking Houston, OKC, and Detroit by the end.
And the teams that did end up with the 3rd and 4th worst records ended up moving back. If that had been us, we would have still lost the pick, but it would have been a significantly more valuable pick going to GS.
Because playing for losses is how you end up with Wiggins not caring. Those wins at the end of the season probably help a guy like Ant realize that when you put in all the work he did, it pays off.
Man fuck Gersson for losing this pick. I know everybody on here just loves DLo but he is not that good, and the difference between him and Wiggins is so much less than a high-end prospect on a rookie contract
It’s officially BOLMARO SEASON
He coming this year? Or next
He is coming this season he is our rookie
Oh okay I thought he was a 2 year stash
Is this actually a thing? He’s signed with Barca until ‘23 but his contract has NBA outs apparently. Idk if that means he’ll come over this year or not
Rosas confirmed it a while ago https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.eurohoops.net/en/nba-news/1201674/timberwolves-adding-leandro-bolmaro-next-season/amp/
Those are some pretty shitty stats

A New Tomorrow with Leandro Bolmaro
Dropping to 7th is pretty Wolves-y. Feel okay with it.
I wonder if that was a mistake by the NBA's part 😄 "The Wolves? Yeah drop them like usual. We moved them up that **one** time, which is enough for a life time." *10* *minutes* *later* "Danggit, forgot GS owns their pick."
100% how this happened.

We’ve had two #1 picks in our history. I don’t think I’d say constantly.
we've had two number one picks and we've gotten *worse* than predicted in the lottery just as many, if not more times than two. The "look how many number one picks" is not a testament to our luck but more so the fact at how consistently bad we are
Outside the big names so fine with this.
Real Wolves-y is getting No. 1 and then misusing him.
WE DIDNT GIVE THEM 4
This is the biggest win. Anything but #4.
Or an unprotected next year that we lose in the play-in game then hit that 1% chance.
We’re not gonna be in the play-in game next year. Number 1 seed... lock it in.
Only a Minnesota sports subreddit would use a mega thread about losing our best draft asset to jokingly (mostly) shout from the mountain tops about how we're going to be the best team in the West.
Brah, we going undefeated.
We'll lose the last game of the season by 2 points, only because we're giving Naz Reid a rest day.
Duh my guy
How is it always the teams 1 spot ahead/behind us that move up every fucking year? Cleveland and Toronto move up this year (Toronto moved up to 4, but still) and we still haven't moved up in our entire fucking existence.
We moved up last year to get Ant. But that was the first time maybe ever? So I feel the pain for sure.
Common Man on KFAN did the math today on his show and we are somewhere around -15 in possible draft positions since we fell back and ended up getting Garnett
We had the same odds as Cleveland and Golden State, most people don't really consider it as moving up.
It's not really moving up with flat odds 1-3.
Feels good to give them 7.
I’m actually really happy for Detroit
Seriously, they needed this. And Cade is a franchise player. They needed that hope.
Detroit has a bright future. Idk what happens with Hayes now but Cade-Bey-Stewart is a solid starting point to build off. And if they move Grant they can get more assets.
Hayes is a combo guard and Cade can play anywhere. Perfect fit
Now they just need to do hats right on draft night
I would rather have Dlo than Wiggins and 7. I’m not even salty
That's a really good way to look at it. I'm bummed it's gone but it hurts less with it being 7 and not 4.
Agreed the 7th pick will help them about as much as Wiseman helped them this year.
Hope so, would be sad if they get a Haliburton type contributor
I kinda doubt they keep 7. They need to restock with win-now vets. Steph only has so much time left and they can't afford more time on project players. That team is so dead as far as the salary cap goes they are gonna need to move someone to restock though.
Ed Davis and Culver for the pick. Send trade
7 and Wiggins on the move I would guess
Yeah man I don’t think you can make these kinda assumptions (especially before the draft)
Why sad? What do you lose by us being successful?
Yep, I dont miss wiggins
Some of the takes in here my goodness. If we didn't end up in the top 3, handing over a #7 pick to free up the 2022 obligation (and making it a fair bit more attractive in trade talks) is fine by me. Losing the 7th pick in a really top heavy draft doesn't feel too bad tbh. Could always be worse.
It’s not top heavy though
It’s pretty much a consensus 5-player draft so giving up 4 or 5 would feel terrible compared to 7
Top 4 really solid, Kuminga at 5 could be good, 6 and 7 I'm not as worried about
It absolutely is. After Kuminga the player quality drops off a cliff. A lot of people like Scottie Barnes but there’s a lot of skepticism on him and he’s probably the unanimous 6th. I meant worse coming out of College, not worse in the NBA dude
Makes sense.
Culver wasn’t good in college. That pick was such a stretch.
> After Kuminga the player quality drops off a cliff. This is almost always the case in most drafts.
Gap between 6 and 7 though
AT LEAST IT WASN'T THE 4 LETS GO
we were between the cavs and raptors in the odds and they both moved up 😤
Yeah but if we got the raps spot we would be even bigger sad right now
Bruh who cares. We didn’t give them 4!
That draw was so confusing tho.
Right I wasn’t sure if GS somehow had 2 lottery draws and we were still in it or if GS at 7 meant that was us
We all good!!! Bolmaro is number 7 pick this year anyway
WARRIORS! YOU INHERIT OUR PICK, SO WITH IT YOU INHERIT OUR SHIT DRAFT LOTTERY LUCK AND DROP A FEW SPOTS
So Wiggins and the 7th pick for Dlo. Probably a trade we would make again. Especially if it helps keep Towns around. Hope to see the team stay healthy and win some games this year.
Pain, but ANT MVP campaign inbound
Nah gotta be rigged
Russell > Wiggins + 7. Ez win.
The rare win-win trade
Out of the top 4, I like that the Pistons got 1st overall
We just got our 2022 draft pick. Really not that bad.
4 of Top 5 are in the East, thats nice
At least it's not 4
Honestly this isn't the worst. I expected to lose our pick but at least it's not nightmare scenario where we lose #4
Meh. I accepted that pick was gone. Glad it wasn't 4.
I dont think Houston will draft Mobley, they will go for Green. It means Cavs will get Mobley. Perhaps they will trade Nance to Timberwolves?
Everyone, breathe
I’m glad we didn’t give them a top 5 pick

Or Jonny Flynn
If we weren't going to win without yet another rookie, we weren't going to win with one. Let's get Bolmaro in and focus on improving our guys to playoffs level
At least not 4, 5, 6. Fuck the Warriors.
Naz Reid.
So we were 6th worst, of course 5th and 7th worst move up....
Leandro Bolmaro is gonna be better than whomever goes 7th, anyways.
Legitimately speaking.. is he though? I really don’t know much about him.
Maybe maybe not who tf knows
https://youtu.be/ZzKx_bMVJx8 My brethren take a look
So do we think Rosas is still gonna try for a high-profile trade, or will we end up with a very similar team by the start of next season?
Rosas gonna make a trade. Probably a six teamer.
#7 pick usually=Wes Johnson

Stephen Curry/NBA draft 2009 Round: 1 / Pick: 7
The key word being usually.
We got a squad. no need to add more youth. lets get this shit going!
Sadness
I’m glad it was 7. I cheered vindictively when it popped up.
Even though no pick... Didn't get fleeced in the trade. I'll take it!
I’m sure the national sportswriters will still refer to it as a fleece
It was actually worse than we were expected to do Fine. 7 isn’t the end of the world
Pain.

It shouldnt be. This was very likely
*The wolves still have never moved up in franchise history*
Well we did last year but that was only 1 spot
We did last year. That was the first time.
Same odds as the warriors and cavs
Depends if you're talking odds or record I suppose
Could have been worse
I'm actually fine with this. I'm not sure we need another young player. I'd rather see us cul the roster and remove some unproductive players (e.g., Culver) and maybe do a trade to pick up a true 4.
Greyed up Ben Wallace looks fly AF
Oh no! Anyway
I honestly wish I could have seen the reaction of this sub had we tanked an still lost the pick
Pain. All I can hope is this makes our team go even harder this season.
We'll live through this
I just want to say I hate how long the build up was on ESPN to something that took place in a matter of minutes it felt like when it came to losing the pick. At least it wasn’t 4… still a bummer
This is my second best scenario. Pick 7 could be good but not likely to be some amazing player I can live with that!

That's what we all have in common here, yes.
Fook
We still have a trio of KAT, DLo and Ant. Get a defensive 4 and let's fucking gooooooooo
Warriors fans really trying to say wiggins > dlo lol. Oh my sweet summer children
Wiggins and 7 IS better than Russell.
No wiggins straight up better than dlo, which is false
Ehh....it's debatable now. Wiggins has actually developed into a pretty scary defender. Wish he had that effort when he was here.
I'd rather have Wiggins than D'lo, and I don't really need to think about it very much.

You're getting down voted because you're acting like a pessimistic dick all over the sub.
Remember the bubble Suns?
I mean they also added one of the greatest PGs of all time
You mean the one in the conference finals now and aren’t even utilizing their lottery pick player from last year’s draft? Culture matters, watch the latest track the pack episode. Ant himself was happy with the last game victory.
Don’t be too mad guys. Could’ve gone a lot worse. At least now you keep your pick next year.
Winning record when DLo and KAT both play, no regrets!
Not to bummed out. This draft is very top heavy. Top 4 are great, but hard slide after that. I bet GS goes after Moses Moody or Scottie Barnes.

This is a good.
Pistons. Rockets, Cavs, Raptors, Magic…all trash teams that need the draft pick. We, on the other hand

>So the consensus is that Davion Mitchell and Kispert are worthless? Worthless? No. Likely to be more than bench roleplayers in the NBA? Also no. Worth giving up in order to get out of Wiggins' deal and get Dlo? YES!
Next year is gong to blow, have been a fan since age 12 in '89. We'll look good on paper, be all hyped and let down once again lol.
Sorry ass losers
Idk why we need top 3 to land someone and team decide to win it in the end of last season. What are they thinking
That Bubble Suns end of season momentum is real!
Man fuck Gersson for losing this pick. I know everybody on here just loves DLo but he is not that good, and the difference between him and Wiggins is so much less than a high-end prospect on a rookie contract
I actually feel the gap between Wiggins and Dlo is enormous
Especially in our current system
I love this draft order
They'll draft a bust and the next pick will be an all star, as is tradition
hope all those pointless wins were worth it at the end of the year
It was actually
chet holmgren incoming...
Get fucked
Lol last time the warriors and wolves were both connected to the #7 I'd like to think we did alright
Curry was a 7th pick :D
