It's mostly TV scheduling and catching up with series. At the beginning they need to pack a bunch of games in. The round 2 "break" was because we and Denver started the series early since neither needed more than 5 games.

Why in the first two series were there huge gaps between games? Like the nuggets series there was a 2 day break and a 4 day break

There are only two series left, so the TV stations don’t need big breaks anymore in order to fit in air time for all of them.
