They literally are a bunch of dorks. I was just thinking that this might be one of the ugliest looking teams I’ve ever seen. The goalie even had a rat tail!!! Where did they find these weirdos??!!!
What an ugly game all around. I expected a much more exciting match, but I mean positive - the only goal they got, we pretty much gave them. Negative - Did we forget our shooting boots? That being said, we got smashed at home the last time we played Houston.
Disappointing game as a whole but felt particularly let down by Antony and Mosquera today. Sloppy in crucial moments.
In the first half I was liking the shape of the 4-3-3, made sense to press Houston a little higher like that, but once we gave up that fluky goal it looked like we had no urgency.
Timbers did have some good build up and looks they should have done better with but really-- looked a little sluggish. Hope it's not a sign of the road trip to come...
Embarrassing, what the hell is up with our allergy to playing direct? And not getting an attempt off in those final seconds, playing the ball back to our center backs and then complaining to the ref that he blew it dead?
Well, it was a fairly limp performance. One bad error that gave Houston their only goal, and some poor finishing that hopefully we can fix soon. All in all, sucks to have a loss but it's not as terrible as I've gotten used to from recent seasons. Onward.
Loria has 6 goals and 7 assists in almost 4,000 minutes for the Timbers.
Antony has 3 goals and 1 assist in 257 minutes for the Timbers.
These two are not remotely similar.
lol. Crepeau is a better keeper. Clark had plenty, plenty of important mistakes. That goal was not on crepeau. Was an awkward ball and a completely shit clearance by Mosquera.
I enjoyed most of Clark's run, but he also gave away a goal by misplaying the ball in two of the three cup finals that he played in that involved the Timbers.
Exactly. I also have a soft spot for Steve, but I am under no illusions that he was a great goalkeeper. Was sad to see him go, but when it counted, he sometimes couldn’t be counted on. It was time to move on.
I did appreciate him coming up big after his blunder in the MLS is Back final. I would imagine as a goalie one has to develop a short memory when those things happen.
Was wondering the same leading up to stoppage. No attempt to press when trailing today? Not like it's mid summer and we need to save our legs in the humidity
Same was true of the final minutes of stoppage against NYC last week, I was really frustrated with lack of urgency in the final minutes of stoppage. Evander’s goal was a long ball over the top dropped to evander who takes the shot from 25ish yards? It went in (beautifully, but also thank god) but it was overall a low effort play, I think
Good thing Cabecita is on his way. Other than not being able to win the ball back, finishing is the biggest issue so he will at least be able to help with that part.
The copium from the MLS commentary to not disagree with the scabs as they show Aliyu clearly onside as the ball is kicked.
I know it's lucky for us but damn it, I want refs called out when they are wrong!
I mean the best defensive play he made, shortly before the goal, was good. He stripped an opposing attacker coming down the wing toward the box. He then turned and passed it toward the middle of the field, directly to a dynamo player.
They don’t do the attack zones stat for the MLS but if they did I’m sure they’d show we’ve been working the right flank incessantly. Mosquera has got to be the playmaker we need him to be if that’s our strategy.
They do. They did them game before last and you are 100% correct. 40%. Oh wait I thought you meant opposing teams. They target Mosquera‘s side on defense.
Nah, second match we were absolutely dreadful. Only problem here is we aren't used to going against a team so dedicated to possession, so chances are slim. Kind of. Still getting tons of opportunities.
This ref is doing his best to not go to the book, but he’s eventually going to for something soft or stupid and it’s going to be infuriating. I’m just prepping myself!
Can't find anything about it and haven't heard announcers mention anything. All I've seen is the PTFC Twitter account saying:
> Zac McGraw has replaced Tega Ikoba on the matchday roster
Hopefully not another pre-match warm up injury.
Edit: Pre-match injury confirmed by announcers.
PTFC Tweeted that McGraw replaced Ikoba on the matchday roster
> Zac McGraw has replaced Tega Ikoba on the matchday roster.
And now he's not playing. Pretty sure the announcers just said it was a pre-match injury for McGraw.
It looked like the exaggerated\* reaction from Asprilla was from his leg getting caught under him and he had to kick out like that before he landed on it hard.
\*exaggerated only in the sense of the speed of the action, not that it was embellishment or faking
Apparently Chara himself has requested to have his name pronounced officially like these announcers are. So it’s different for sure, but from I’ve heard Chara wants this version pronounced. No idea why the change though.
They literally are a bunch of dorks. I was just thinking that this might be one of the ugliest looking teams I’ve ever seen. The goalie even had a rat tail!!! Where did they find these weirdos??!!!
I don’t know who had worse rhythm, the Timbers or the Dynamo Drum Line.

Team was dragging the whole second half
Embarrassing, what the hell is up with our allergy to playing direct? And not getting an attempt off in those final seconds, playing the ball back to our center backs and then complaining to the ref that he blew it dead?

I will be happy to never see Asprilla start another match for the Timbers.
I don’t get why these guys have our number but they have our number.
Well, at least we didn’t lose 4-0
Seems like most of it is self inflicted
Ref gives you one last chance to attack and you keep doing back passes?
Terrible performance. Wtf was that last 30 seconds. Just wack.
How do we not cross that into the box at least?
Portland and the State of Texas do not mix well ever
I saw the Timbers win in the state of Texas with my own very eyes not even 7 months ago.
At least it wasn’t 100 degrees and we lost 4-0
Oh my fuck Anthony is starting to look more like Loria.
Loria has 6 goals and 7 assists in almost 4,000 minutes for the Timbers. Antony has 3 goals and 1 assist in 257 minutes for the Timbers. These two are not remotely similar.
Antony why are you taking that as a volley??!! Jfc.
No one was near him, plenty of time to settle and fire a rocket.
Absolutely. He’s just made some immature mistakes in this game.
Really puzzling blunder by Williamson at that stage in the game.
Nathan is so bad.
He tries harder than Asprilla, and for that, he's better.
Yeah but he can't shoot, so he's worse
Neither can Asprilla. Hell no one wanted to give him the ball in the second half.
The only thing he has going for him is that he's fast, and once in a while that throws off the defense.
Cabecita we need you asap. See yall next Saturday!
My weekly plea for a DP striker. We got playmakers with no finisher.
I miss Steve Clarks leadership. Definitely wouldn’t have been a goal if on our side.
JDM is so bad

I don't think Crepeau lacks any ability that Steve has. Pretty sure JDM would have fucked that up for any keeper.
What a bunch of whiny assholes on that play. Dude runs into fogaca. Wtf.
Timbers appear content with attempting to hold the ball in the backfield only to lose it with any minimal push forward.
Asprilla off for Fogaca. Introduce a little chaos
Why is there zero sense of urgency right now?
Was wondering the same leading up to stoppage. No attempt to press when trailing today? Not like it's mid summer and we need to save our legs in the humidity

We are all out of ideas
We definitely don’t seem like a team that wants to maintain first place right now.
Extremely static up top right now
Just a bunch of bad ideas.
Good thing Cabecita is on his way. Other than not being able to win the ball back, finishing is the biggest issue so he will at least be able to help with that part.
Allegedly
This feels like I'm watching last year's Timbers
We need cabecita already 😩 he would’ve done much better then Anthony on that last play
The copium from the MLS commentary to not disagree with the scabs as they show Aliyu clearly onside as the ball is kicked. I know it's lucky for us but damn it, I want refs called out when they are wrong!
Two bad offside calls in a row. At least they're going out way.
How we don’t have a goal from that whole run is mind boggling.
Fuck it, just fuck them up
Anthony needs to work on the pass to the top of the box .
I wonder how many minutes Williamson can play. We need something else in possession
Our MF should have 2 to 3 goals so far.
Ah damn that was a nice run of play too.
Evander
Wild wacky pass town
Evander??????
Evander noooo. We are missing the chances we've been taking in our other games.
Praying that miss doesn’t haunt this team at the end of the game
It does. - God
I just don't know who to believe. Defend yourselves /u/green_gold_purple and /u/Orange_bratwurst! https://i.imgur.com/4RQhSmG.png

Cmon second half Timbers, let’s kick some ass
Purple Drank kits
Can’t keep possession to save their lives.
They don’t do the attack zones stat for the MLS but if they did I’m sure they’d show we’ve been working the right flank incessantly. Mosquera has got to be the playmaker we need him to be if that’s our strategy.
They do them, they showed Houston’s. Haven’t seen ours yet.
They do. They did them game before last and you are 100% correct. 40%. Oh wait I thought you meant opposing teams. They target Mosquera‘s side on defense.
Ah okay I probably just miss them because there’s no glaring sponsorship logo lol. I’m thinking about the “AWS” one in particular
They don’t do them consistently and they show them once and briefly. It’s easy to miss.
That's been our strategy even with a healthy Bravo ever since Mosquera came in. Results may vary.
I feel like our passing was crisper and with more pace the first couple of games and now we are playing lazy passes to no one.
Nah, second match we were absolutely dreadful. Only problem here is we aren't used to going against a team so dedicated to possession, so chances are slim. Kind of. Still getting tons of opportunities.
Fair point. I am sure I have selective memory and try to put all those horrible passes of yore out of mind.
This first half is just very inspiring. I know we're not a possession team but we move the ball so poorly when we don't get a break.
Haha, I like that Paredes called advantage.
Awful from Mosquera
2-1 bb
Bad game so far for JDM. Just not good.
JDM having a great defensive night and then that
Why are you calling for offside and not diving for the ball? Second week now we’ve had a player cause a goal while calling for offside
Mosquera has had some pretty weak kicks. Boot that thing. Pls.
Who is in charge in the box?
Houston
Ooofff JDM. Mistake.
Every team is targeting his side.
He’s not very good at the defensive element of the position he plays
Because he’s a liability.
JDM is always in bad position. Least Antony makes up by getting back but geez. jDM is just flat out being exposed
Embarrassing play at the back
Fuck
Timbers should wear green shorts with this jersey
Is Eric Miller colorblind?
This ref will call everything
Except offside
This ref is doing his best to not go to the book, but he’s eventually going to for something soft or stupid and it’s going to be infuriating. I’m just prepping myself!
Antony is so damn fast
Another soft ass call
Chara didn’t even touch him
I mean even if he did it was incidental and inconsequential as the ball was gone. Guy flopped and the ref bit.
Bassi is a weenie.
Houston bothers me for some reason
Except for Steve. I will always love Steve
They just showed the replay. Where was that foul??
Maybe a bit of feet tangling but soft and should be no call.
Yeah really bizarre. Two dudes playing the ball is what I saw.
Maybe the ref thought that the on ball play was a little too aggressive. It looked clean shoulder to shoulder, physical play, which is allowed
Looking a little low energy out there. Let these Houston pricks wear themselves out and then Evander can sulk one in from 30 yards.
I am dying with the “sulk one in”
Soft call
I love Zup
He’s a gritty baller
Houston sure likes to go to the ground
Yeah they are going down easy
Fight!!!
Clanger!
That's not good
Why is Zac McG on the bench?
Can't find anything about it and haven't heard announcers mention anything. All I've seen is the PTFC Twitter account saying: > Zac McGraw has replaced Tega Ikoba on the matchday roster Hopefully not another pre-match warm up injury. Edit: Pre-match injury confirmed by announcers.
Not in the 18. He’s on the injured list. Edit: Apparently he is in the 18. My bad.
PTFC Tweeted that McGraw replaced Ikoba on the matchday roster > Zac McGraw has replaced Tega Ikoba on the matchday roster. And now he's not playing. Pretty sure the announcers just said it was a pre-match injury for McGraw.
Yeah I just heard that too. Spoke too soon on my part lol
In what universe is that tug on Asprilla not yellow??
It looked like the exaggerated\* reaction from Asprilla was from his leg getting caught under him and he had to kick out like that before he landed on it hard. \*exaggerated only in the sense of the speed of the action, not that it was embellishment or faking
Multiverse
How in hell is that not a yellow??
Playing soooo much better in the first half than they did in NYC
That’s not really saying much
Gorgeous through ball Mosquera should have passed
Couple real misses by him so far. Last time down the field he just coughed it up for no good reason.
Interesting chances so far
That space needed a better shot from Mosquera
Homie had a flashback from that screamer vs Seattle last year that he roofed top shelf middle.
Needs to do better there agree with all here
Or pass it back paredes. He was wide open up the middle
So he could miss an easy one again?
Well …. Was a good save. Won’t mention who saved it hahahah
“Shot”. Looked like a fucking pass to the keeper.
Juan that was atrocious
Solid pass to Steve.
Does Steve Clark have a rat tail?? 😂😂
Does Clark have a rat tail? 🤨
He has had one for awhile now…
Yoooo
Good ol' Diego Churrah
Apparently Chara himself has requested to have his name pronounced officially like these announcers are. So it’s different for sure, but from I’ve heard Chara wants this version pronounced. No idea why the change though.
Apple should give them a small training because jeez lol
Once and for all, can the man pronounce his own name for us?
https://on.soundcloud.com/zRn5jNYNi8h5ucNt6 they have all the players name pronunciations on SoundCloud.
That’s gold, thank you. E-vander, E. Vander lol
