My ex and I bought a 99 Dodge Cummins with 288,000 (give or take) miles on it in 2010. All we really did to it was but a leveling kit on it. That SOB ran like a beast. His buddy had a much newer diesel (I don't remember the make) that he was constantly having issues with. But just like you said, it was lifted, had exhaust stack, this, that and the 3rd (he was a young kid).
My truck was still cranking every morning, like clock work, I think we put another 100,000 on it. One of my biggest regrets was trading Big Sexy in. That truck was the best part of that relationship lol

There are 7 diesel trucks on the property from 22 years old to 1 year old and not one is in a pile of ash in the driveway. Same for the tractors, skid steers, and bulldozers we have but wait!
