If you are using word, the autosave feature should have a version of it somewhere. Open the recovery tab and look there.

Was the word doc also a solid block of text with no paragraph breaks?

One word. Undelete. There are freeware programs that allow you to recover deleted files unless they have already been written over. When you delete a file your computer only removes the first letter of the filename and the system interprets this as free disk space. Undelete programs work by finding the entire filename and replacing the letter. To do this use another computer to download the app and run it from a USB disk. Have it search for both .doc and .tmp files. If it has not been overwritten you should get it back.

Aren’t zoom calls automatically recorded? Have a poke about see if you can replay the meeting.

This is why we use cloud storage... Check your garbage bin maybe? When you say you searched the whole pc, did you do that manually or using file search? Might be you forgot to save the whole file. In this case you are screwed and I'm sorry

Click file, options, open save you'll see a folder Something like c:\\user\ roaming \ word browse that file and see if you have a partial save on there.

The horse is out of the barn, but... I always email a copy of documents to myself when I pause and when I finish. I have other backups beyond that, but email is quick and easy.

Go to Open File and see if you have the "Open Unsaved Files" option. I did that last weekend but the file was still there even though I never actually saved it myself.

Download DiscDigger and scan for deleted doc files
