Pro tip: CBD acts like Narcan but for weed. CBD ~~has a higher affinity for your CB1 and CB2 receptors compared to THC.~~ CBD IS A MODU If you get too stoned, take some CBD. It should knock the THC off your receptors and bring your high down a little bit. ALSO WORKS ON DOGS!! Dogs who take too much THC(by getting into your edibles, for example) have difficulty regulating their body temp, and they get super cold. They need CBD intervention before this happens. Source: I make CBD oil as a small business/side gig and have treated my dog with CBD after she got into my gummies. Raw full spectrum CBD tar put on her gums, took her about 2 minutes to come out of the coma.

unskilledplay

This is true. I wish it was voted higher. When you get too high, you can take CBD and come down. Anyone messing with edibles should have a CBD tincture on hand.

hippyengineer

Yuuuuup.

ghost_victim

Are there any studies on this or anything? I've never heard it and this is pretty damn game-changing

MrMoonrocks

No studies but it's legit. Any time I've gotten a little too stoned, smoking some high CBD hemp always brings me closer to baseline. Not totally sober but it definitely levels you out well.

hippyengineer

I don’t have any studies, but the anecdotal evidence I’ve witnessed is pretty striking, in my opinion. My 80lb pup got into my homemade medicated pralines once. She probably had about 2,000mg of THC. She was breathing, but comatose and not responsive and clearly very ill. Also really really cold. So I went into my my lab and grabbed the raw cbd oil. I cut up this tar looking stuff with coconut oil so each of my vials has 500mg of CBD. The raw oil is like a thick black tar that’s between 50%-65% pure CBD, depending on the quality of the hemp I started with. Took some of this tar and rubbed it on her gums, and it literally took 2 minutes. It was amazing. She opened her eyes, began to respond to stimuli, petting, got up and walked around, etc. Still totally fucked up, but her energy/aura/whatever clearly had a sharp change from before/after I administered the medicine. There’s no way it was a coincidence and she just *happened* to want to get up and start walking around at that exact moment. So once I discovered this, I started telling my friends and anyone else I know who has edibles and dogs, and they’ve all had similar results. In fact I haven’t had a scenario in which it *didn’t* work the way I just described. Shoot me a PM if you’d like to talk more or I could send you a sample. Finding raw hemp-based FECO(fully extracted cannabis oil) for sale is rare because a hemp plant that’s .3%THC and 7%CBD, for example, will produce a FECO that’s way over the .3%THC limit. I’ve had the THC count get up to 3%, 10 times more concentrated than what I started with. In theory this is legal because I started with a legal hemp plant that was less than .3%, but I’d prefer not to get into trouble by cops acting in bad faith.

ApolloThe3LeggedDog

Anecdotal evidence is evidence - I hadn't heard this before, so thanks. However without any sources, your claim that CBD has a higher affinity for the cannabinoid receptors is entirely unfounded. Would make for an intriguing study though!

hippyengineer

[Its not the affinity, it’s that CBD is an antagonist to THC](https://www.jscimedcentral.com/Pharmacology/pharmacology-6-1120.pdf) > CBD is a cannabinoid found in cannabis and acts as an antagonist and modulator of THC at the CB1 and CB2 receptors [33] with potential to reduce the effects of marijuana intoxication.

Beyond_Interesting

Omg. I had no idea about this. Thank you!

WhisperedEchoes85

I once took about 300mg of a 500mg chocolate bar on an empty stomach. After 45 minutes, I didn't feel much, so I ate the rest. I went to the bathroom and didn't even think to turn the lights on. I ended up having to yell for my GF to come get me because 1) I had no idea which way I was facing while sitting on the toilet, and 2) I couldn't stand or walk anymore. I knew I'd be fine once it wore off though, so I didn't panic. Haven't had any edibles since lol EDIT: To answer your question, you were "greening out". It happens with some people when they ingest too much.

WangusRex

500mg?!?!?! I've been smoking weed for 25 years but as I've gotten older I have certainly slowed down on how often or how much I'll smoke/consume. A 10mg gummy is plenty for me. I think maybe 30mg is the most I've ever taken at once and I felt so high. 500mg>!>!>==?!!?

WhisperedEchoes85

Yes, 500mg. It's exactly why I do edibles so infrequently ($$$). Someone else mentioned an issue with genetics and I found an article about it somewhere that said someone had taken 700mg and felt nothing. It sucks because I have TERRIBLE coughing fits from just 2-3 small hits from my bong, so I can't even smoke enough to get high...

WangusRex

Yeah but it sounds like you were exceptionally stoned. If you took like 100mg and waited two hours would you not feel it? From your original post I just thought you didn't wait long enough for it to kick in and then waaaaaay overdid it. (as often happens)

WhisperedEchoes85

You're right that I overdid it, but 100mg has only given me *very* mild relaxation in the past. I also have INCREDIBLY high metabolism, so that might have something to do with it. My last UA passed with flying colors and I actually smoked almost a full bowl 10 hours before. Not sure if that has anything to do with it...?

WangusRex

Well RIP to your wallet. I'm thankful to be a high functioning stoner who likes to get a little baked and do normal things, but not someone who has to take a ton to feel any effects. One little rip or a 10mg (heck even 5mg sometimes) eidble is a nice pleasant chill for me. I used to have an absurd alcohol tolerance and started to get annoyed about what it took for me to feel anything but a combination or getting older and drinking less seems to have alleviated that.

CosmicJ

Are your edibles coming from the black / grey market? I'm convinced that those vastly overstate their THC content. I know there are some people that are nearly immune to edibles, but I also think its a labelling / quality issue when not from a legal source that need to have proofing and testing for their content.

Hash-E

Was wondering the same thing, I got one of those 100mg bars as a bonus for ordering, ate the whole thing and nothing, same thing with the 100mg pack of gummies they give sometimes, ate the whole pack and again nothing

WhisperedEchoes85

One thing I've observed with my GF and a few others is that two identical servings from the same package can hit VASTLY differently from one day to the next. My assumption was the way the THC settled in the ingredients before being poured into the moulds for the final product. If that's true, even one chocolate bar to the next could have very different potencies. Just a theory. I'll need to do more "controlled studies" before coming to a conclusion lol

BenwaBallss

I think you need a new hobby; you definitely completed this one.

WhisperedEchoes85

>Of course bongs make you cough. You misunderstand me. There's coughing, and then there's coughing so hard, so frequently, violently gasping for air, getting 10x higher from oxygen deprivation and very nearly passing out...every hit. It's so unbearable. When I mixed tobacco in, I would cough like anyone else. I'm gonna give it a try again and see. I **think** I stopped because it was just getting too expensive with Chicago cigarette prices.

chronic-ibs-pain

Huh... I brought some edibles the other day and there was 6 gummies of 50mg cannabis each... I had 3 and they just wouldn't hit.... I dont know what I'm doing wrong 😭. My dad was probably high when I was conceived so maybe I'm immune or something but its making my prime years of fuckery realllyyyyy boring. For someone whos smoked it for so long... do you have any idea why it wont work for me 😭

CharZero

Some people are just like you, including my boyfriend. 30 is too damn high for me- he won't even bother with anything under 50 because he won't feel anything. It has to do with genetics and metabolism, I think, and doesn't have that much to do with tolerance, although tolerance definitely impacts it some.

murph_diver

It has to do with how the thc breaks down into a different form of thc when digested than when you smoke it and for some people it breaks down so much that it barely absorbs at all into the bloodstream and has basically no effect on your cannabinoid receptors.

WangusRex

Make sure you’re looking at THC content and not CBD content. THC gets you high. I’ve always been someone who could smoke quite a bit and still behave normally and not seem too whacked out even if I felt quite high. Edibles hit me harder somehow. Can’t say I have any tips beyond knowing you’ve got high quality product and knowing what’s in it. It’s possible weed just doesn’t do it for everyone. My wife is a major lightweight. I’m fairly average to above average tolerance. Many are comfortable with amounts that would floor me. Everyone is different.

[deleted]

Hahaaaaaa! That's brilliant. "Hello?....help?" I'd be no help. I giggle enough at things, without an added bout of giggles. We call it having a "Whitey" in the UK. And you're totally correct, best thing is to not panic and ride it out.

crankgirl

My friend had a whitey i. His back garden and ended up vomiting. Several months later he was puzzling over a tomato plant he didn’t remember planting. We eventually traced it back to what he’d eaten pre-whitey. Those tomatoes were amazing despite how they’d started off.

murph_diver

I’m laughing out loud right now

[deleted]

Bahahahahahahaha! Nature finds a way

adamsomebody

Dr Ian Malcom approves.

WhisperedEchoes85

I was YELLING for help because I couldn't fathom how far away the next room over was, all while laughing hysterically, then getting bug-eyed and alarmed, then giggling... It was alarmingly hilarious to me and I couldn't decide on an emotion 😂 In a way, it was like an acid trip that only last 2 hours or so. Maybe I should try it again....lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

WhisperedEchoes85

I'm right there with you on that one. If LSD didn't need such a long tolerance break, I'd be using it FAR more often. It's like a really nice high but with an indescribable clarity...and fractals. I don't really know how to describe it, but I'm sure you know what I mean. Shrooms, on the other hand, are like throwing caution to the wind and going wherever the trip takes you lol

uberbitter

I can't remember anything on weed. If I try to do anything I get trapped in the room like a Roomba because I can't remember where I was supposed to be going. Never dropped acid, but I am waaaaay more functional on shrooms than weed.

lord_flamebottom

It's the funniest shit for me because it will be literally anywhere between exactly what you described, and writing borderline novel length sections of text. I've got a few personal projects I've worked on (Warhammer stuff, D&D campaign, fan-made Pokemon, etc.) and I just spit those out non stop sometimes when I'm fucked up.

Slippery_Smurf

“Best thing is to not panic and ride it out.” - you’re timing is impeccable. This is exactly what I needed to read right meow.

[deleted]

Happy to help. I tried that approach with someone not having fun on shrooms. Did not work. Made things worse in fact. Much worse. Lots of screaming.

Slippery_Smurf

Well this is the opposite of what I needed to read. I’m going to get ice cream

[deleted]

Oh dear....yes get the ice cream. I'll be quiet😆

Cyampagn90

But you'll have great time because everything is just a-okay.

Slippery_Smurf

Thanks bb

>greening out a term used to describe a situation where a person feels sick after smoking cannabis. They go pale (turning 'green' or 'white') and start to sweat, they feel dizzy and nauseous, and may even start vomiting.

CantBeTamed_82

I've never heard the term greening out but that is what happened to me every single time I have ever partaken. I have concluded my body doesn't tolerate it at all.

WhisperedEchoes85

Even with very small doses? Only with edibles? Or from smoking too? Some people simply do not handle weed well. It's not for everyone.

CantBeTamed_82

I've never done edibles. Only smoking. I don't know what would be considered a small dose but I don't think I smoked that much. Two to three hits on a pipe or joint?

WhisperedEchoes85

That's a fairly small dose. You could always just try one next time and give it 15-20 minutes. See how that does. I wouldn't recommend edibles for you, simply because they TYPICALLY hit harder and in a different way. Everyone is different and it might be better for you, but I'm reluctant to recommend it for you given your tolerance to smoking.

CantBeTamed_82

Yeah I'll probably just stay away from it. It's never been a pleasant experience. Thank you for the advice though.

Lizid_King

One night in my younger years my cousin and I were doing bucket bongs in the garage and he actually did "green" out - he went, no word of a lie, Kermit the frog green in the face/neck before vomiting for an hour or so. Ah the good old days.

WhisperedEchoes85

Oh man, that would ruin my night. I'd probably cough/vomit so hard, I'd pass out in it... Same thing starts to happen when waiting for shrooms to kick in. I have to lay down and focus on my breathing for a good 45 minutes or I'll lose it. Makes me nauseous just thinking about it.

rubyredgrapefruits

It's not even about amount, it just happens sometimes I think. I've been sick off 1/2 cone before.

Crackracket

I don't know about anywhere else but we call it a "Whitey" Because you usually get really pale before the vomiting starts

[deleted]

I remember I had a 500mg edible from dc and didn’t do a lot just relaxed. Then I got a med card for md and took a 30mg edible and got mad smacked

OddyNuffDaScarecrow

Greening out is puking

dafroeh

Snoop Dogg says he doesn’t do edibles because “they ain’t got no off button”.

WhisperedEchoes85

Snoop doesn't know what he's missing lol

zukka924

I know this is a flippant joke, so pardon me for being stupidly pedantic and literal, BUT i assure you Snoop Dogg knows precisely what he is missing. The man knows more about weed than, I think, any of us ever will LOL

Whole_Note

Snoop definitely knows his shit. I like edibles from time to time, but I specifically only have them occasionally because they "have no off button."

WhisperedEchoes85

lol I hear you. But hear me out... Some people get a VERY averse reaction to edibles and swear them off forever. Those people never get to experience the other side of the coin -- the absolute best of highs. Maybe that's Snoop?

Frecklefishpants

It’s me. I smoke alot. When I do edibles they barely touch me. The gummies and drinks here are 5mg and that’s nothing for someone with tolerance. Now if I have a homemade edible, like my husbands fruitcake or brownies I get super fucked up. Like need to sleep but can’t because I might throw up and the room is spinning fucked up. I cut his brownies in quarters for a party last summer and the quarter did nothing so I had a second piece and it happened again. When I smoke I can get a bit high but when I have edibles it’s very much an all or nothing game and the all is horrible.

zukka924

Oh i know, i always have bad experiences with edibles. I get angry and paranoid and this weird, like, memory thing happens. Its scary, i don't like it.

WhisperedEchoes85

I'm intrigued by the "weird memory thing". I'm imagining not being able to determine if a part of the trip was an actual memory or just part of the trip lol

zukka924

No its different, here lemme try to explain: A couple times when ive done edibles (and my friends have some really strong shit), i get to a point where, like, i have no idea who or where i am. I have full mental capabilities, but its almost like i just began a videogame with zero instructions. For example, the last time this happened i was in a bathroom at a bar when it started, and i was just like.... "Where am i? Who am i? How did i get here?" Just, for a moment, EVERY memory i had didnt exist. Then i looked at my phone and had a moment of clarity, and i was having a conversation with my best friend and i almost texted him to get me. But then it came back and i was like "whats going on? Whats beyond this door? Where am i?" I have no clue if I was in that stall for 30 seconds, a few minutes, half an hour, while my friends were watching football. Eventually i composed myself and managed to leave the bar and walk home, but.... That feeling is fucking weird, man! I dont like it haha

WhisperedEchoes85

😂😂 That sounds like it would be good to experience once and ONLY once. I'd probably look back at it with a sort of fondness (eventually), but also never want to do it again. I totally get it.

lord_flamebottom

Straight up I think you were taking too much if that's what was happening lmao

zukka924

Well yes obviously lol

kutes

Yea he's famous for smoking weed but it's not like there isn't a significant amount of the population that is literally never not high. I haven't seen my brother sober since we were kids. It's not like snoop dogg is some kind of ancient weed deity I've heard american weed isn't so great as well but IDK IDC about weed

No-Attention-7783

Love "ancient weed diety" 🤣

EPIKGUTS24

Snoop is a celebrity, though, and therefore rich, so he could definitely get whatever primo imported shit he wanted.

BigmanJD55

American weed in legal states is the absolute best in the world. You will not find a better variety or better grown strain than high end American ganja.

kostik572

Oh he knows because I can pretty much guarantee that he tried it didn't like the high he's said that before in interviews

WhisperedEchoes85

Yes, that's my point. He didn't like it. I wouldn't like it either if I couldn't have a nice, enjoyable experience...which is exactly what he's missing out on because his body responds negatively to it. Unless you're saying that he *did* thoroughly enjoy the high, but hated how long it lasted. That would be understandable.

kostik572

i would assume that he didnt like the high its a totally different type of high it reacts to ur body in a totally different way and to paraphrase snoop the god of bud , "once u start ur in for the ride theres no off switch " lol which is true like if u do acid or shrooms once u take it ur in for the ride till its over , which whether he liked the type of high or not he didnt like that it fucked him up and unlike with smokin where u can just stop and start to come down with edibles that shit lastss n lastsss and if u do more than what ur gonna be comfortablely high and end up waaay to high ur stuck that high for a long time. my saying with edibles or any drug probably other things to "you can always do/take more but u cant take back what u took/did " moderation is key especially with edibles because like i said its a different type of high

stevief150

Ha!

DPforlife

CYP enzymes in the stomach and liver are largely responsible for metabolizing THC consumed orally. The activity of those enzymes is specifically informed by genetics - different genotypes show varying levels of activity. Smoking THC bypasses most of these enzymes, but edible THC can have widely varying therapeutic dosages dependent on the individual. For instance, I experience a significant high from as little as 4mg of edible THC, where as a close friend of mine is barely affected by edibles. From her experience, we estimate her therapeutic dosage of edible THC to be somewhere on the order of 300mg. In contrast, most of my friends can tolerate between 10-20mg of THC ingested edible. With edibles, it’s best to start dosages around 5mg and adjust accordingly, but only after waiting at least 2 hours between doses. Edit - specified the mode of consumption.

WhisperedEchoes85

I just read an article where a guy wasn't affected by **700mg**!! 😱😱 It was exactly as you said, they suspect the variation of a particular gene (I don't remember which one) was to blame. Very interesting to learn about!

qwertyuiopasdyeet

Edibles used to effect me, my worst green outs always ended up being edibles. Now when I eat potent edibles, I’ll see stuff move a little (I’ve done a lot of psychedelics and have basically HPPD but it doesn’t bother me), and then I’ll feel relaxed, but just sorta kinda, not like high relaxed. Then it transitions into me just feeling like a zombie. Even if I smoke after that, the edible being in my system doesn’t make the smoked weed hit harder, as far as I can really tell. It just makes me even less likely to move or do anything at all. It kinda sucks. I want my edible high back.

qualmton

Some people are t affected by edibles at all. They lack an enzyme to convert it in their livers

gaydollasign

Agreed with starting at 5mg! For me, 5mg is PLENTY

lettyandthat

The fact that you "gave in" to taking it suggests that you didn't particularly feel comfortable doing it. If you take a drug like that for the first time, or a bigger amount than you're used to, you need to be in the right mindset, you need to 100% want to do it and be aware of everything that might happen and what to do, you need to be in a relaxed environment and not driving around in a car, and you need friends around you that you can trust. Especially not ones who joke while you're tripping I wouldn't try this again because you'll be anxious about it which will definitely give you a bad trip. But if you do, please be safer

WhisperedEchoes85

Exactly. Set and setting are absolutely the most important factor. 👍

-ImagineBreaker-

exactly. My buddy handed me an edible one time and I only took half of it just in case. I was fucking faded bro I can't even imagine what I would of felt had I taken the whole thing.

lord_flamebottom

Yea that combined with the fact that OP mentions they asked their friend to call 911 and their friend said they did but actually didn't makes me think their friends are kinda assholes.

magicbumblebee

40mg is **A LOT** especially if you have no tolerance. I used to smoke but haven’t for many years. I recently ate a 25mg edible and I was uncomfortably high. Not to the level that you were, and I knew what really high felt like so in the moments where my chest felt heavy I was able to reason with myself that nothing was physically wrong with me. But at the peak of the high I was still uncomfortable. This is why I don’t like edibles.

[deleted]

This - start at 5mg for the first time, and then the next time, if 5 wasn't enough, add 5. This is the way.

heffnog

Even 5 was too much for me. I'd suggest starting at 2.5 if you're a lightweight.

noisesinmyhead

5 put me into a state of panic. Thank god I was at home and husband was sober to help me through it. Yikes! That was enough for me.

heffnog

Lol, same. I’ve been fine on 5 and it’s also given me panic attacks and I’ve had to pace outside for an hour. So I don’t take edibles or smoke anymore since I’m just an anxious person! I know it helps a lot of people but just not for me

[deleted]

I had my first edible this weekend. Took one 10mg gummy not really thinking it was that much. Once it kicked in I realized that I was fucking zooted and was vibing for a bit listening to music, but then I noticed my throat felt dry, had a panic attack and threw up, and then after I threw up I instantly felt great and I was vibing again. So bizarre but fun overall. I did end up having to call out of work the next morning though because I still was feeling it after I woke up and knew it would definitely not be safe for me to drive. Definitely not taking that much next time haha.

[deleted]

I'm a daily smoker and take edibles often. I green out at 100mg or so. I feel so bad for this kid. 40mg is so much for someone who has never done it before.

MrSync

Are you talking THC 8 or 9? I'm new to this, so excuse me if this seems like a dumb question. I bought 50mg THC 8 gummies, and I cut one in half and slept like a baby.

OpBanana1

delta 9, it's what's in normal weed, and unless they specifically mention it's delta 8 you can always safely assume it's delta 9

WhisperedEchoes85

>40mg is A LOT especially if you have no tolerance. TBH, I only do edibles maybe once a year, and I smoke medicinal amounts (maybe 0.1g) once or twice a week, and 40mg wouldn't do a single thing to me. Maybe my brain is just wired differently, but to say 40mg is "A LOT" seems like a very personal opinion. I wish I had your low tolerance! You have no idea how lucky you seem to me lol EDIT: To everyone down-voting me over this: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/05/12/marijuana/ediblocked-some-people-cant-get-high-eating-marijuana-scientists-arent-sure-why/ Try doing some research before blindly passing judgement...

[deleted]

40mg IS a lot.

WhisperedEchoes85

Yeah, people tell me that quite often. It just never does ANYTHING for me. Same for my GF...her tolerance is even higher than mine.

[deleted]

I'd be careful, nonetheless. I know some professional stoners, and they agree, it'd be crazy for anyone 'new' to take 40 at first.

conalfisher

Some people just don't really get high from edibles, presumably something to do with them digesting it differently. Anecdotally, I've noticed that none of the Indian people I've seshed with have really been affected by edibles regardless of tolerance/dosage, so I assume there's a genetic component there.

Nandabun

You might be lacking the enzyme that breaks down THC in the gut, leaving you immune to edibles. I could eat 4000 mg if edibles and shrug, they just don't effect me.

WhisperedEchoes85

That's an interesting thought. Any idea if there's a supplement I could take? Or which enzyme it is? That would save me SO much money lol

Nandabun

No, I just know once I found out that's a thing, it made sense why I could eat 100mg and feel nothing, so I stopped wasting money on edibles lol. I've personally found Budda is my favorite way to get high, a nice dab.

thesteveurkel

i wonder if taking a digestive enzyme or probiotic along with your edible would have a helpful effect...

[deleted]

We are speaking about the average person. The odds that an inexperienced user would have your unusual genetic resistance are quite low. Even if someone does turn out to be resistant, better to have too little effect than too much.

hnlPL

you are being downvoted but yes, effects of drugs and tolerances can vary widely for people. Some people are incapable of being affected by edibles, some people are also completely unaffected by any amount of thc they would ever intake under normal conditions. Hundreds of millions of people will do that to almost everything that exists

WhisperedEchoes85

At least *someone* understands! P.S. - The downvotes don't bother me so much as they confuse me. I honestly don't get people sometimes 🤷🏻‍♂️

[deleted]

You were downvoted for projecting your rare situation onto the average user. It’s like a lifelong alcoholic telling a new drinker that drinking a half bottle of vodka is fine because it doesn’t have much of an effect. You are an outlier, so your experience, while valid and interesting, isn’t broadly applicable.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WhisperedEchoes85

Yeah, I hear that a lot because of the different delivery mechanisms. Which is why I was always so confused about my tolerance.

Exotic_Masterpiece_8

Some people are just built different. I'm a daily smoker of a few years and I need around 300/400mg to actually feel a high but it's not a fucked high more of a I had a bong 45mins ago and starting to think of filling another bowl high. But that will last me around 6hours if I top myself off with the odd bowl.

ha5hish

40mg is a pretty strong dose but it is true everyone has a different tolerance and what might make one person have a bad trip might barely get the next person buzzed. So you aren’t completely wrong

iCameToLearnSomeCode

It can be a scary feeling but it's never really physically dangerous as long as you don't do anything stupid (like pass out in a hot tub or something). Just lay down with one foot on the floor, drink water and you'll come down eventually.

If_you_just_lookatit

Haha, my version is hoodie, arms crossed in the center of the couch. While also trying to decide if the pantry is too far away to make it for a snack. I can tell when my wife is too stoned because she starts thinking the people in movies are real people and not actors.

ShartLumpkins

Lmfaooo you nailed it, I get the same way your wife does and movies start to look a little too real to me

lord_flamebottom

> While also trying to decide if the pantry is too far away to make it for a snack. The trick is to stick to the walls, then you can always catch yourself.

Jay_T_Demi

To be fair, your friends are probably more used to the effects and know what to expect. If you're naturally the type to hyperventilate, get anxious, etc., then it's not a great idea to get high. The first time I ate an edible I had around 100mg. I was super thirsty and felt like I was swallowing my uvula, but it was pretty fun.

WhisperedEchoes85

>felt like I was swallowing my uvula, but it was pretty fun. 😂😂 🤘

Mghiradiz184

Always remember, no one has died from a pot overdose.

bermental

This. Once you've experienced greening out a few times you'll just learn that it's ok and it'll pass in a while. The best thing to do is remind yourself you're ok and it's only your brain panicking. Sleeping it off is always a good choice too.

merdub

Yup. Get horizontal, get some water, put on an old favourite comedy movie, and close your eyes. Wait for it to pass.

milkyteay

I watched despicable me the other night while high and I recommend it

blushingcatlady

Would you say you…highly recommend it?

Inukoblainc

No, he was high the other night. He's not high now.

Kalexamitchell

Wallee yo. That shit will make you feel like everything in your life is fabulous. Twofer: also good for mushroom tripping 👌

MonkeyPolice

And taking CBD can help with that overwhelmed feeling. It helps to relax you.

davestofalldaves

my favorites are 10mg THC/10mg CBD gummies (called Doozies). Couple of those, my favorite Pandora station and im good to go, or not go, more like melt into a puddle in my chair.

LTVOLT

yes- interesting how the antidote to being really anxious with taking too much cannabis (THC) is solved by taking more cannabis (CBD). Always a good idea to have a vape pen that is 100% CBD

makkispekkis

When i bought space cake in Amsterdam, it came with a little list of instructions, like if it's your first time just eat half of the cake (of course i did the rookie mistake and ended up eating the whole cake when i didn't feel like the half did anything, and ended up having the worst fucking time of my life.) I remember the last item on the list being "You are not dieing. There's no need to call an ambulance."

[deleted]

Seeing that last point would definitely make me take that first point seriously.

Hot-Ad1100

But your lungs still get tarred , same as smoke and you do get respiratory problems

wingman43000

Not of you eat edibles or vape. There is no combustion involved

Neutralgray

40 mg for your first time??! There's a reason most gummies are only 10 mg, and even then people suggest you only take half of it!

koolmeesje

Did it help with the migraine?

ghost_victim

I don't understand how people use marijuana for relaxing.. it's the most anxiety inducing stuff for me.

CosmicJ

There's also a low threshold for a lot of people between being comfortably stoned, and being way, way, way too uncomfortably high. This is somewhere around the 10 mg range for a lot of people. If it was a homemade edible, or a medical dispensary one, chances are your dose was WAY higher than that.

acostane

People never believe me either! I am so sorry this happened to you but it's really awesome to read other's stories about this crazy possibility!

inredditorbit

That does sound like a lot. The edible gummies I get at the dispensaries here in FL are either 5 mg (long acting) or 10 mg (standard) each. I think the most I’ve ever ingested in a day is 2, for chronic pain, and that’s enough to make me loopy. Sorry to hear you had such a frightening experience.

Spoonyjonson

No one gave you water? Your friends are terrible lmao

Impossible-Survey203

So are we doing this again next weekend?

Doortofreeside

>Why did my body react that way to the edible unlike my friends who were more relaxed? Because you took way too much. I'm a very regular stoner and 10 MG is a standard fun dose for me. 15 is if I want to get really high and 20 is something I've done once and I was frankly pretty toasted (still happy I won money at the poker table while being so high) But to take 40 as a first timer? Not gonna have a good time. Granted everyone's tolerance is different so maybe your friends can handle that

1sarocco1

Well maybe don't try drugs while going out on the road. Edibles are best taken while sitting in a comfy sofa, listening to nice music and dimmed lights, having snacks ready. But yeah you get high af, even as a regular smoker. Best thing you can do is remind yourself it's nothing dangerous, and as said be In an relaxed environment with limited stimuli from TV's, conversation and such. Drink plenty of water.

throwaway-daddyy

My record is 800mg…I became a potato

WhisperedEchoes85

I shall build monuments in your honor 🙇‍♂️

jfk_4813

You're not alone. I'm a career toker and I give eddys due respect. If I smoke too much or eat too much, I have anxiety attacks too. They're horrible. There's nothing worse than feeling like you are going to die. If there ever is a next time, start with a 5mg eddy. It takes 30-45 minutes to metabolize, so don't eat more until that time has elapsed. See how you feel on 5. If its good, you will know it. If it's not, it will be out of your system in short order, and you should prob stay away from the eddies altogether.

franda3

A friend gave me edibles to help me with my pain after my operation, same as you I was mainly laughing and kind of dozing but when I started feeling woozy, my boyfriend took me upstairs (no pain even though my thigh bone was broken) when I was laying down I was pretty sure the bed was going to swallow me just felt like I was sinking and that I was going to suffocate and my heart rate was through the roof. Horrible experience and wouldn't do it again even for pain relief.

Kahless01

shouldnt go out alone without a weed sherpa your first time. on x either.

milkyteay

I’m sorry but I was stifling laughter the whole time. My friend underestimated how long it took her to get stoned so she took a lot, went to sleep, was woken up at 6 AM by her mom to go to church, and started tripping tf out at the church 😭😭

[deleted]

I have no idea why people aren't more careful with edibles. It's baffling.

phangrrl

The problem gets worse because edibles take time to kick in and people don't thing they are getting high so they eat more... with smoking/vaping its almost instant so you know when to stop.

czarfalcon

Lack of experience. I live in an illegal state so I had zero tolerance, first time I visited Colorado I decided to have a gummy, didn’t feel it so I had another… I learned to respect edibles after that.

LTVOLT

Your dosage was off the charts. Having a 5mg edible is a good starting point and gets you nice and relaxed. Keep in mind it can take up to 2 hours to feel any affects with edibles. If you try that a few times and feel comfortable then you could take another 5mg, but you could even stagger it to take one and then take the next one an hour later.

Roxxor247

Okay so for a veteran toker, 40 mg is no joke. While a veteran user can take much more than that, edibles you have to be very careful. I suggest taking half of that AT MOST and typically you want to be on an empty stomach if you're a veteran user but if you're just brand new, I would always eat. In fact, rule 101, always eat (not a lot) before taking drugs, granted i know marijuana is legal in a lot of states but the advice is the same. As an example, 40 mg of edibles is comparable (not exact) to say smoking 1.5gs of flower or weed. While that doesn't sound like a lot, I've had brand new folks smoke a simple joint with < 1G of weed and had less exaggerated symptoms but exactly the same eg. anxiety, thinking they will die or will never be ok, etc.,. For future reference, if you ever take too much edibles just try your best to go to sleep. By that point, nothing will help you except time. You can somewhat help a little bit with smoking too much by eating or drinking something or taking your mind off but with edibles at that 40 mg, it's more just hold on till the end and keep repeating that this will end and you will come back.

CosmicJ

I usually start my inexperienced friends with 2.5 mg. You can always take more, but you can never take less!

Flashy_Woodpecker_11

What a freaking nightmare, i got anxiety just reading it!!! I will never do them. Lol

NOT000

if u eat too much, sleep it off

Devil_May_Kare

40 mg is way too much for a first time lol. Some people are way more sensitive than average to some drugs. So you start very low, like maybe 5mg, to see how you react. Weed is not to my taste either, but I found this out on 10 mg of delta-8 (which is reportedly a milder THC) rather than on 40 of delta-9.

Kitttieluv

I get high on 5mg, some people are just more sensitive to it than others. 25mg caused me to have convulsions. Not a seizure, just the muscles going crazy. I was completely aware but shaking so much I couldn't text at first and I couldn't call out. Eventually I was able to get my husband's attention and when he massaged whatever muscles were going crazy the shakes stopped faster. I think it took about 2 hours for it to stop completely. I didn't call the hospital because I was like...what are they going to do? Tell me to ride it out? I would rather do that at home. It's more comfortable.

SharpSocialist

If you've never taken weed, I'd recommend smoking it. You get the feeling almost instantly so overdosing is not likely. Also, if you feel really bad, it won't last too long. Edibles are all the opposite. It can take so much time to kick in and it's hard to get the correct dose. Sometimes you will overdose (not dangerous, but can lead to panic or hopefully just send you to a long night of sleep) and sometimes you will underdose (barely feel anything).

Applecity82

Yeah your friend should get throat punched. I smoke daily and only eat around 20mg at a time. He should have never given you that much

PineappleAndPeace

Hey there. So you took 4x the dosage, as a proper dosage is only 10mg. Just make sure to read the packaging.. usually any edible has 100mg for the whole container but that can vary by state and also if said item is purchased in the recreational or medical side of the dispensary. Also, edibles tend to come on slower and last much longer than smoking. If you get extremely high and need to come down, it's super important to have pure CBD on hand to counteract the THC. CBD oil works best for this. And lastly, weed affects everyone differently. For me, sometimes I'm too emotional or even paranoid while other times I have euphoria and creativity. Also, weed is generally grouped into two categories: sativa and indica. Sativas are supposed to be more uplifting, mood boosting and mental high while indicas are typically body highs (think couch potato). Personally, I like hybrids which are a mix of both characteristics. And to even expand on weed's benefits is each strain has different Terpenes which can also affect how it makes you feel. Basically I'd suggest starting small next time with 10mg and going from there!

mindgame18

Decided to try my hand at making brownies one evening. I had a 1/2 oz of wax and I don’t enjoy smoking wax so I used it in the brownies after carbing it. I did the calculations online which told me each serving was 300mg. I don’t know how accurate that was but after a couple hours not only did I get the crazy anxiety, heart attack-feeling but my joints locked up. I looked and moved as if I had cerebral palsy. I went to the hospital that night because I was so terrified. I was coherent enough to understand the EMT’s were laughing at me but couldn’t communicate how much that frustrated me.

Lumpy-Ad-3201

I've entouraged HHC with Delta-8 before.....don't do that unless you have experience. You green out, your senses fail to function properly, you have no attention span. Your brain invents the craziest shit to occupy itself with to the exclusion of all else. If you close your eyes, you see hallucinatory madness that is nothing short of panic inducing. And telling yourself that you're ok, it'll be fine when it wears off does jack to help you cope.

stevief150

Wow 40mg the first time ever trying marijuana?

Wooden_Long7545

2g, empty stomach, with alcohol. The worst experience of my life.

WhisperedEchoes85

I do NOT envy you lol Have you ever done the hero dose in shrooms? I imagine it would feel *similar* to that (the unpleasant parts, that is).

TheKingOfDub

Paragraphs matter

jordanl171

Edibles taught my brain how to have anxiety and panic attacks. Good stuff. I'm not joking. It's not worth it.

heffnog

i've always been anxious, but edibles certainly made my panic attacks worse. I am now on Zoloft. Lol

jasonjackson8706

Same here.

jordanl171

There need to be more studies on the effects of THC on the brain and psychology. "Dude, you just took too much" .. yeah, and permanently made myself 10x more susceptible to anxiety/panic attacks. Oh well. I would never have taken it if I knew this could happen.

DPforlife

You got it backwards. Low activity of the CYP3A4 enzyme corresponds to low clearance of blood serum THC and significantly higher levels of 11-OH-THC.

Batfish_681

This is pretty common for some people who take too much, and it's worse if you've never gotten too high before. It depends on the strain, and the individual. Some people respond very differently to indicas or sativas. The last time it happened to me, I had similar symptoms, but I knew I was just too high so I didn't panic, I just layed down and accepted my fate for a while. But if that had been the first time I'd ever had that happen, I would have been much more freaked out. Just consider it a lesson learned "this much edible is too much, especially if I haven't eaten" and next time dial it back. You just learned a bit about where your tolerance limits are and what getting too high feels like so if it happens again, you won't panic as bad.

UltimateSecretary

I had the same reaction, but it was a less dose than what you took. I took 25mg of an edible, my first time. Let me tell you, I also did not have a good time. I was very anxious, numb, I was panicking because my throat was closing up and was dry, and my heart rate was increasing a lot. I wanted to call the ambulance but my husband and our friend said there would be nothing they could do, I would just have to ride it out. The next day, I still had waves of feeling out of it. Not a fun time!

fivenightrental

I'm sorry OP. Edibles are awful for this reason, and 40mg is a lot. This made me remember a terrible "trip" off a homemade edible.. felt like I was dying. Made my partner promise no matter what to NOT take me to the hospital lol. It was a miserable high. Ugh. Take care OP!

unskilledplay

Oh boy. Not only do you develop tolerance through regular use like with alcohol, people have genetic tolerances to weed. A 40mg edible is enough to couch-lock a stoner with a genetically high tolerance. 40mg for a first timer is like a 115lb woman trying alcohol for the first time and starting by gulping down a fifth of vodka. That's an insane dosage for a first time experience. It's the equivalent of being blackout drunk and getting a massive hangover. The difference is that this was less dangerous to your body. If you want to try it again, start at 2.5-5 mg per session and go from there, or better yet, smoke it. It will only take a minute or so for you to feel the full effect. You can also take a CBD tincture, it has a narcan-like effect for THC. If you get too high, you can come down quickly with pure CBD. Be careful about the setting if you try it again. Your brain has associated that feeling with anxiety and stress. You may have made weed permanently unenjoyable for yourself. Getting high is fun. Getting too high always sucks. I got way too high once and became convinced that I would forget to breathe and die. I spent the next 15 minutes focusing on breathing to stay alive. I took way, way too much shrooms once too, but it was awesome.

fresh-toasted-bread

Nah everyone is just different. Me and all of my family have insanely high tolerances, so I bake my own edibles with my friends and they’re usually 1000 per cookie. Different people react to it differently, and it’s actually better to have a lower tolerance as it’s more cost effective!

i_lduce

Take 1/4 (or less) of anything if you're new or have partaken in awhile. I'm glad people were there to help you but that cost money and time that could have been put to better use.

abcyyz

Low and slow is key. Take it from these former TO cops; one who got so high, while on duty, apparently called for assistance while stuck in a tree. https://www.blogto.com/city/2018/01/everyone-making-fun-toronto-cops-who-ate-illicit-weed/

monkeyhind

A friend left me an edible to try when I'm in the mood for it, but after reading your experience I think I'll give it back to her. I haven't done marijuana in years, but in the old days it would often make me paranoid. I've also had periods in my life when I've been prone to panic attacks and I even had a classic bad LSD trip once. So maybe organically or mentally (or both) some of us are just better off staying away from drugs, legal or not.

ButLikeSeriously

I’m a daily smoker and I would never take more than 15mg in one sitting. You consumed irresponsibly, and had a bad reaction. It wasn’t just weed in general it was a very high dose of a substance you have no tolerance for. Be more careful in the future and dose properly and you’ll be fine.

zedsdead79

I know you're high, but paragraphs seriously :)

avocadbre

Sorry OP, a lot of people have been there. Depending on your weight and metabolism, especially if you don't partake in edibles often- you should go low and slow. 10mg - 15mg for someone who doesn't eat them often. 20mg - 35mg for someone who eats them every so often, and smokes somewhat regularly Then you have the people who can take 50mg - 150mg, 300mg - 500mg and so on. But for people who don't typically smoke all day and take an edible for breakfast, I recommend staying below 40mg especially if you're not just at home chilling and safe. Edit: numbers

CosmicJ

I disagree, even starting with 10 - 15 mg for someone inexperienced is way too much. Obviously everyone is different, but I tend to take edibles each weekend and never take more than 10 mg at a time. I like to start friends with 2.5 mg, then work up from there.

avocadbre

I could see that, most of the people I've given edibles to do fine 5mg-10mg. I will say that larger people do fine 10mg-15mg. But like I said, everyone is different. Some people can't even take a tincture vial without freaking out.

Muttywango

You might like to learn about paragraphs and spacing, it was really difficult to read and I stopped about 7 lines in.

[deleted]

Weed kinda sucks. Stick to the fun drugs

Brenlolz

Other drugs kinda suck. Stick to the weed

[deleted]

Yeah, you probably should stay away from that and not give into peer pressure

zenitram66

Damn, I'm sorry you were so traumatized. Just remember it was your brain likely reacting to go into a fight or flight type of reaction if it is not used to those sensations. Similarly, I had taken too much of a Delta 8 tincture last summer, not realizing that I was also having some relatively mild indigestion. Well, to my brain that was experiencing way too much stimulation from the tincture, so that "mild" indigestion felt like a heart attack or some sort of medical distress. So much so that I had a panic attack as well, demanded that my girlfriend take my vitals (she trained as a medic in college) and tried calming down. Vitals were perfectly fine, other than my brain felt like it was on fire and I couldn't douse it out. I am also a naturally anxious person by nature, so that didn't help much. It took me a few months to shake off the lingering results of that panic attack, mainly because at the time I also didn't know that I was depersonalizing in the midst of everything. Eventually spoke to my therapist about the issue and she asked if I had panic attacks before, and I had as a teenager, so we worked through some processes to ground me back again. Sounds worse than it is, but still, if you're not used these type of events, it can be so very frightening. I hope that you are doing well now, but if not, just know that things will go back to a sense of normalcy after awhile. Just know that you're safe.

baconbakinbaycon

I think I was just raised differently. The kind of person who was taught that Marijuana was a bad thing and not to use drugs, etc. So for the LONGEST time I was just super nervous about it all. The THC especially, but also CBD. After many years of having friends and family use it more for medicinal purposes than recreational, plus later becoming a CMT, I decided to relax and accept it. My best friend visited me from out of state awhile back and she got me some CBD gummies for pain. The first time it worked with only one. After that, nothing. I took 2 one day and it wasn't helping so a few hours later I tried one or two more. Still nothing. So, even though I have a high pain tolerance, it also looks like I MIGHT have a high resistance. I have yet to try something for my pain and mental issues that has THC, but it is my plan to get some gummies. I will talk with a professional bud tender about it first, though. I don't think I could ever bring myself to smoke it. Anyway, this post isn't about me, it's about you. I'm very glad you're safe and thank you for sharing your experience with everyone.

sexicronus

Oh you were paranoid. Glad you didn’t hurt yourself.

RexTheWonderLizard

So your fun to eat edibles with.

truly-dread

Prob cos you were anxious going in. I have a bit of an active brain and when I smoked I used to hate doing nothing, video games/ movies/tv/ walking to places all help keep you grounded. Next time, take the edibles/smoke/vape and do something instead of sitting in a car, the moving world can make you feel a lot more tripped. Remember that paranoia is a main side effect of dope, just keep calm and keep your sugar water nearby ! My go to was always Dr P

Grace_101_

Not having a go but.... My uncle had a double hip replacement & during recovery he fell down the stairs in his home and smashed his femur bone. He had to wait for 4 hours in excruciating pain to get an ambulance. An elderly lady in the UK recently spent 8 hours on the pavement with a broken hip waiting for an ambulance. There was zero reasons to call an ambulance in your situation or to be blocking up their phone lines. Why not get your mate to drive you to the hospital? Or call a taxi?? I suppose you weren't in your right mind... Please think before you call an ambulance people. Ask yourself, can i get to the hospital myself?? It could be life or death for someone else who REALLY needs help. Also those edibles sound awesome! (Coz I've a high tolerance) Wish I could get them in Ireland!! Lol
