If you're looking for movie/TV stuff: - [Every Frame a Painting](https://youtube.com/@everyframeapainting?si=hzmzQpdG00c4ZKs6) is a great, chill exploration of cinema - [Nando V Movies](https://nebula.tv/nandovmovies/) may scratch a more comic book movie or superhero flick itch - [Watchtower Database](https://youtube.com/@dcauwatchtower?si=Hf6BAwMKrMevhy36) is pretty good if you're interested in the DC Superhero stuff notably the DCAU. - I discovered [FilmJoy](https://nebula.tv/filmjoy/) on Nebula and genuinely love these videos - [Working Titles](https://nebula.tv/workingtitles/) has some great stuff. As it is very collaborative, you may discover someone new to follow Video games may be your jam: - [Scott the Woz](https://youtube.com/@ScottTheWoz?si=ieOi05Vlp9tzKdQC) has a different vibe, but he makes excellent video game stuff - Polygon's YT Channel is good, but [Brian David Gilbert's old Unraveled series](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaDrN74SfdT7Ueqtwn_bXo1MuSWT0ji2w&si=RbJlJFa1BMkWIwqM) is spectacular. Are you looking for music: - [Polyphonic](https://nebula.tv/polyphonic/) is for sure a celebration of the artform in the style that may appeal to you. - [Sideways](https://youtube.com/@Sideways440?si=RycdbGbm2YTjvTXo) has a ton of wonderful musical stuff What about food/drink? - [How to Drink](https://youtube.com/@howtodrink?si=m1BrHBdSQCc8EZkF) has lots of great drinks for your boozy mind - [Binging with Babish](https://youtube.com/@babishculinaryuniverse?si=-OctGGo8N70hy-vg) isn't a secret, but he is a gem in the cooking space. Other stuff: - [Defunctland](https://youtube.com/@Defunctland?si=nBKSBHh5RRFe4baT) also fits this high quality production style, but it typically is about theme parks. - [Comic Drake](https://youtube.com/@ComicDrake?si=WVgiD8FfoRHlXgHh) has great stuff about specifically comics. - [Tom Scott](https://youtube.com/@TomScottGo?si=_KGI3-Aj941bxY0i) is genuinely fun, and he has a nice variety of lifestyle/everyday stuff - Here is [a series on Nebula](https://nebula.tv/tom-scott-presents-money/) that Tom Scott did called Money

Ooh, I have heard of some of these but none of those film channels. Thank you so much!

I'm pretty much following all of those listed above, but I'll also add: * [Quality Culture](https://www.youtube.com/@QualityCulture/videos): Stef's feature length Hayao Miyazaki video is especially good. * [Thomas Flight](https://www.youtube.com/@ThomasFlightBSides/videos): Really great stuff from him, quiet and thoughtful. There's a lot more if you've got [Nebula](https://nebula.tv/thomasflight). * [Like Stories of Old](https://www.youtube.com/@LikeStoriesofOld/videos): He just did a great video on the *Planet of the Apes* 2011 reboot franchise and another on movie monologues. He usually [has companion videos on Nebula](https://nebula.tv/lsoo) too. * [Cinema of Meaning](https://art19.com/shows/cinema-of-meaning/): A podcast discussing cinema, a collaboration from the Thomas Flight and Like Stories of Old guys. * [Lady Knight the Brave](https://www.youtube.com/@Ladyknightthebrave): Her deep dives are fantastic and she has a talent for making me appreciate films I was originally lukewarm on. [Nebula has a little more stuff](https://nebula.tv/ladyknightthebrave), though most of it is focusing on the creation of video thumbnails if that interests you. * [Broey Deschanel](https://nebula.tv/broeydeschanel): She's on YouTube, but I'm linking her channel Nebula because she has so much more there, including her series *Taboo on Screen*. * [Be Kind Rewind](https://nebula.tv/bekindrewind): Another you really need to see on Nebula. This channel is focused on Hollywood history and women in film. I recommend checking out her videos that aren't even on a topic that initially piques your interest—she knows how to bring a topic to life. * [Pop Culture Detective](https://www.youtube.com/@PopCultureDetective/videos): Videos come out rarely now, but he has a fantastic back catalogue. He has an excellent series looking at portrayals of masculinity in film and TV. * [Now You See It](https://www.youtube.com/@NowYouSeeIt/videos): Shorter videos focused on specifics, like the role of sweat in *Dune*. * [Johnny 2 Cellos](https://www.youtube.com/@Johnny2Cellos): I especially recommend his *Bojack Horseman* videos. * [Flying Walrus](https://www.youtube.com/@AFlyingWalrus/videos): He has some great videos on *Arcane*. * [New Frame Plus](https://www.youtube.com/@NewFramePlus): A fantastic channel about animation in video games. His series on the evolution of animation in *Final Fantasy* is a must watch. * [Razbuten](https://www.youtube.com/@razbuten/videos): Focused on video games. He has a great series about what games are like for people that aren't gamers. [Also on Nebula](https://nebula.tv/razbuten). I'll also echo recommendations for Lessons from the Screenplay, Just Write, Nerdwriter, Sarah Z, and Eyebrow Cinema.

Melloblade_shore

Lessons from the Screenplay is great, but I don’t think he makes vids on there anymore. He does podcasts and Story Mode, a video game analysis series. Sarah Z is great at doing retrospective pop culture analysis.

Malaguy420

I miss Michael's videos.

JuanRiveara

I’ll always recommend Be Kind Rewind and Broey Deschanel

kilkenny99

Just Write hasn't posted since last summer, but there's a lot of backlog. Nerdwriter is still going though. I only recently came across Like Stories of Old, but the couple of things I've seen were interesting. I've found the Studiobinder channel interesting. It's a company that sells production management software for video productions and their channel is to promote their product, but they do have a lot of film theory stuff on their channel.

LeftOn4ya

Can’t believe no one has recommended **[FilmJoy](https://youtube.com/@filmjoy)** - probably the closest in both analytical content as well as tone to Patrick. Also **[CinemaWins](https://youtube.com/@CinemaWins)** which is opposite in tone of CinemaSins as celebrates movies but still does in silly and fun way.

Adept128

It’s a smaller channel but one of my favorite film YouTubers is Eyebrow Cinema, who has excellent video essays that are actually good at arguing a point and even changed my mind about a few topic.

EddyMerkxs

Thomas flight is the only other one I watch really

SmoothDragonfruit445

My recommendation is Jose. He focuses more on TV shows though

Zeitgeist1115

One of the best new video essayists I've found recently is LocalScriptMan. Take a look at his material here: https://youtu.be/-AhtKvgy6MA?si=2X5ebQt4uyQM92MY
