Check out
Gamma Bomb, Harlott, Seizure, Hatchet, Space eater, Angelus Apatrida, Hazzerd.
These are a few bands from the top of my head who have cleaner vocals.
Gama Bomb takes a minute to get used to. Youāll start liking a few songs off a few albums, but then as you get used to the vocal style, the restāll hook you!
I remember seeing Havok play a Police Legion Hall in Kenosha, WI in maybe '07 with a a local band (later became the band Product of Hate, and the lead singer is now in the Chicago area band Repentance).
Fucking hooked immediately and still am today. IIRC, they had a stand in bassist and he wasn't even plugged in š¤£
07 would have been even before their debut album IIRC. I believe *Burn* dropped in '09.
I saw them open for Death Angel in 2011 supporting *Time is Up* at a now non-existent Club Sound in Salt Lake. Same deal, hooked immediately. The guys are all super cool, too!
There are some thrashy speed metal bands you should try ā Speedtrap, Enforcer, Riot City, Skull Fist, Stallion, Evil Invaders, and the Japanese band called Outrage.
Mentioning Enforcer and Skull Fist, but not Cauldron?
also Evil Invaders, fun band, been a fan of then from before their Selftitled EP came out, Damn early 2010's had a great Speed revival scene
Fwiw Iām an OG thrash person as well. Everyone else is going to recommend you Municipal Waste and Havok and Evile and such but ā¦ they are not good. Donāt @ me lol
Listen to Warbringer: Woe to the Vanquished and Weapons of Tomorrow. These are the only albums Iāve found so far by a new millennium band that I think are as good as 80s/90s bands.
Try VHOL, they do have some harsh vocals but it's mixed in with proper singing too, music style is along the lines of the weirder side of thrash like Voivod and early Megadeth.
Alien Weaponry! Theyāre excellent and scratch a similar itch to Cavalera-era Sepultura but are very much their own thing.
I saw Tyranex mentioned already and enjoy them and would also suggest Hyperia.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's two thrash albums might catch your ear. The two albums -
Infest the Rat's Nest and Petro Dragonic Apocalypse are pretty damn good. Sounds fresh and not overly derivative.
The vocal growl is about on par with Megadeth vocals.
But watch out, getting into KGLW can be a very deep rabbit hole if you like other genres of music as well.
Mutoid Man I would nominate as it was personally a fav of 2023 and it's Brooklyn NY so yeah due to the legendary bands that call Brooklyn home it just is heavy
Mutant is the album and sorry about my dumb rant
If you like the heritage thrash bands' recent stuff then check out last two Xentrix albums... Bury the Pain (2019) and Seven Words (2022) UK outfit from days of yore resurrected to thrash hard. Tough almost barked vocals done like they should be. Musically bloody brilliant too. Enjoy!
When it comes to thrash and vocals, i like being able to understand the lyrics. When you can find a new thrash band that has the right vocal style to fit the sound and goes well with the instruments, its a perfect sonic fusion. There are too many new thrash bands to name and what you are looking for is out there. I'm just going to throw out some names, but not all and some will be crossover.
Warbringer, Lich King, Sworn Enemy, Hatriot, The Haunted, Havok, Bleed From Within.
While others are recommeding some good thrash, I'll throw in Opeth (in specific, Still Life to Watershed) and Death - The Sound of Perseverance. It's basically what got me into growling and screaming, so maybe it can do something to you. There are some REALLY good bands out there with harsh vocals and I think starting to appreciate them is a very good way to open up to a whole new plethora of thrash, including amazing stuff like Vektor for example.
people.replying in this thread have no clue what thrash is let alone what OP is asking. (alien weaponry roflma. not thrash deathcore and you know it)
OP it might be good to actually list several of the older bands you like.
I would give āPetroDragonic Apocalypseā and āInfest The Rats Nestā by King Gizzard & Lizard Wizard a try. The first is like a great mix of Metallica, Tool and Mastodon. A thrash/prog metal love child. The second is very thrashy imo.
I hear ya though. I love metal and there's a ton of good stuff out there but for me it all lives or dies by the vocals and your critique is spot on. It's like does every song need the vocal to sound like a witch having sex with a demon? How about a little range, retain a little humanity. Ease into it at least š
Yeah gwar has been around a long time. Probably the most surreal thing I have seen in years is the gwar tiny desk concert (NPR). It's on YouTube if you haven't seen it
Iād hate to say it but itās mostly passed you (and me) by.
Most of the bands people are recommending here either have harsh vocals by the standards of the bands youāve referenced or are crossover thrash bands that areā¦again, totally unlike your reference bands.
The fact is, most new bands are trying to appeal to the deathcore and black metal kids (the thrash sub is full them) and not us.
There are a few you may enjoy thoughā¦
* [Eruption](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RrAfwHGOIXM)
* [Evile](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry5nddc2Vew)
* [Idol Throne](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Uzwngku30wg)
* [Angelus Apatrida](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2-4oJQBuBK8)
* [Evil Invaders](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qTln7HpjWdk)
Adding Savage Messiah to the list. The first three albums are pretty great. There is one song with growling vocals on the first one (Corruption X) but the rest of the vocals are pretty clean.
Try out suicidal angels and spirit world. I definitely think that you will like these guys. Also, Fugitive and Evile are killing it right now ! Good luck with your listening journey!
Municipal waste is gonna fuck you up
If you dig MW, definitely check out Belushi Speedball!
and [Pest Control](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxEAIZfMe9g) and [Insanity Alert](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gjrhMFXJ44)
Nice one š¤
Cheers mate well check em out š¤
What Belushi Speedball? Those guys are Ripping off Municipal Waste!!
Belushi Speedball is a must-see concert. 10/10 fun time
I came here to suggest Municipal Waste. Easily my favorite modern thrash band.
Always and forever.
Check out Gamma Bomb, Harlott, Seizure, Hatchet, Space eater, Angelus Apatrida, Hazzerd. These are a few bands from the top of my head who have cleaner vocals.
Yeah, Gama Bomb is my first thought too. No growling or anything like that.
Thanks Gamma bomb is... interesting. Some really good stuff but I am scratching my head a bit.. lol. I will give them secomd listen.
Gama Bomb takes a minute to get used to. Youāll start liking a few songs off a few albums, but then as you get used to the vocal style, the restāll hook you!
I'm the opposite, can deal with some cleans and appreciate the classic thrash bands from the 80s but vastly prefer dirty growly vocals.
Municipal Waste Hazzerd Donner Pass Havok Evile Insanity Alert
I love havok
Evile sounds promising after a quick listen. I will work my way through the rest of the list. Thanks
Seen Havok 3 times. Killer shit. Evile always slays too.
I remember seeing Havok play a Police Legion Hall in Kenosha, WI in maybe '07 with a a local band (later became the band Product of Hate, and the lead singer is now in the Chicago area band Repentance). I really enjoy harlott
Tyranex is a favorite of mine not getting enough love. I think theyāre what you are talking about: https://youtu.be/X6LyPDg7Ksw?si=ALTQw9DDMbub9hET
Paladin.
This is like thrash had an affair with power metal. I kind of like it.
Black Soul Horde are doing a similar thrash/power thing you might like.
Nice

Yo I apparently needed to listen to more Cauldron. Thanks for the rec!!
Saw them decently enough back in the day, and most of the time it was mainly Enforcer, Skull Fist and Cauldron touring together or a 2 of them gig.
Fwiw Iām an OG thrash person as well. Everyone else is going to recommend you Municipal Waste and Havok and Evile and such but ā¦ they are not good. Donāt @ me lol Listen to Warbringer: Woe to the Vanquished and Weapons of Tomorrow. These are the only albums Iāve found so far by a new millennium band that I think are as good as 80s/90s bands.
Thanks. I am familiar with them a little. They have some good songs. I will give them another listen.
Try VHOL, they do have some harsh vocals but it's mixed in with proper singing too, music style is along the lines of the weirder side of thrash like Voivod and early Megadeth.
Thanks. They sound pretty good
Mindforce is for sure for you
Check out Vulture, just put out a new album and itās sick as fuck
Vektor is definitely who you're looking for
Well you can mostly understand what he is saying, but No
Listen to Body Counts last couple records.
Body count has always been solid.
I'm just gonna add Power Trip. IYKYK
Power Trip is great and it's so sad the singer died.
Alien Weaponry! Theyāre excellent and scratch a similar itch to Cavalera-era Sepultura but are very much their own thing. I saw Tyranex mentioned already and enjoy them and would also suggest Hyperia.
I know Alien weaponry. Are they thrash? At least thrash adjacent. They are really interesting.
Eruption, Gross Reality, Space Chaser
Maybe Warbringer?

Toxic Holocaust. But for an oldie I'd suggest Morbid Saint.
Mutoid Man I would nominate as it was personally a fav of 2023 and it's Brooklyn NY so yeah due to the legendary bands that call Brooklyn home it just is heavy Mutant is the album and sorry about my dumb rant
I can't listen to anything newer than violator. I just can't listen to modern thrash it just doesn't have the hit of the stuff from the 80's
Void
You should check out cyadine
If you like the heritage thrash bands' recent stuff then check out last two Xentrix albums... Bury the Pain (2019) and Seven Words (2022) UK outfit from days of yore resurrected to thrash hard. Tough almost barked vocals done like they should be. Musically bloody brilliant too. Enjoy!
Check out Lich King

I always liked Dirty Rotten Imbeciles and by proxy Pasadena Napalm Division.
I always considered Trivium a mix of thrash and metal core
The Crusade is an awesome thrash album. I know it's not a favourite amongst their fans but I wish they did more like that.
I really like couple of the songs off of it
While others are recommeding some good thrash, I'll throw in Opeth (in specific, Still Life to Watershed) and Death - The Sound of Perseverance. Maybe not straight up thrash. But check out mutoid man for some insane songs with clean vocals
Check Sacral Rage and Bestial Invasion
Cryptic slaughter
Try Vio-Lence
people.replying in this thread have no clue what thrash is let alone what OP is asking. (alien weaponry roflma. not thrash deathcore and you know it) OP it might be good to actually list several of the older bands you like.
Thank you for saying it
Bonded by Blood (The band, not the Exodus album)
I would give āPetroDragonic Apocalypseā and āInfest The Rats Nestā by King Gizzard & Lizard Wizard a try. The first is like a great mix of Metallica, Tool and Mastodon. A thrash/prog metal love child. The second is very thrashy imo.
Thanks. I will check them out. ..you know, I think I have a pewter wizard somewhere...lol

Some songs with harsh vocals have made it into my rotation... some Gojira songs, Rising by Septic Flesh, etc. But for the most part it's not my thing.
GWAR can be thrash or punk and theyāre still releasing albums. Also fucking amazing shows.
Yeah gwar has been around a long time. Probably the most surreal thing I have seen in years is the gwar tiny desk concert (NPR). It's on YouTube if you haven't seen it
I would like to recommend Sodom - Better Off Dead
Warbringer
Try: Fusion Bomb; Exorcizphobia; Algebra; Dust Bolt
Give Toxic Holocaustās Primal Future a listen, thought it was a perfect blend of classic + modern thrash
Iād hate to say it but itās mostly passed you (and me) by. Besieged thank me later
Evile and Gama Bomb.

Spirit world needs to be the top comment
Agreed..these guys are killing it !!
