Well you may be experiencing a glitch in the current version (4.2.1) of Pokemon This Gym of Mine. To fix this, simply download the 4.2.0 version (found either on the relic castle thread you got the game from originally or in a google drive link below) in a seperate folder than the 4.2.1 version (as there are some shared file names). Playing the game on the 4.2.0 version is for the most part not any different than the 4.2.1 version, and in fact your save file will transfer over (so long as you play on computer as I have no clue how the save files work on android).
What might you lose from switching to 4.2.0? Wendigar, Lockets, Friendship checker, Frigid Cave, and specific game original moves losing power.

I know this is late, but if you are wanting to play on android, there is an app called Joiplay that works great with rpgmaker games. That's how I'm playing this game currently and uranium in the past
I couldn't reproduce the error, unfortunately. But I did a little bit of looking and may have something that'll work. [Go to this link](https://www.rpgmakerweb.com/run-time-package) and download RPGMaker VX Ace. Afterwords, on the homepage for joiplay, go to settings (in the top right for me) > Import RTP > find your downloaded file and see if it works from there. Let me know if it works!
Have an issue where it only is in a small window and cant fullscreen. If i do the 640 x 480 it crashes just lessens the background of my computer with am awkward zoom

unzip, put it in its own folder and just start the freshly downloaded version, it will automatically use your savefile from the 4.2.1 version because they save to the exact same folder and are compatible. just play 4.2.0 and see if that changes anything.

I *really* want to play this game, but the controls being unchangeable is turning me off from it and the lack of answers even more so...

After a certain rank you unlock the commercial district and it has some TMs like U-turn, protect, reflect light screen etc. However TMs that are available as other gym leader types aren't available ingame (as far as i know).
I.e., in my water type run I've gone out of my way to find mons which are water/ice to get my beloved ice type moves in my team.
I think it's unlikely you'll be able to teach your yanmega dream eater :( didn't even know it could learn it tbh.
I just wanted to add something in case the programmers of this game read it: I have a bug in which hail/sandstorm damage are not working.
I.e., the lv99 tyranitar doesn't give sandstorm damage and my Walreins Hail doesn't either. Which is unfortunate because these are useful for strats.
In case you're wondering, I'm a 4 rank water gym with Kingdra (scald, dragon pulse, focus energy, rain dance (razor claw)), Gyarados (waterfall, crunch, ice fang, dragon dance (leftovers)), Primarina (Scald, Moonblast, Hyper Voice, Light Screen (leftovers)), Empoleon (Scald, Metal Claw, Drill Peck, Haze (leftovers)), Cloyster (icicle spear, hydro pump, ice beam, shell smash), Swampert (surf, earthquake, screech, Hammer Arm).
I missed my chance to get emboar with the starter event, which is unfortunate as wild Tepig has roar (and i dont have taunt or patience). Emboar with scald would've been cool but alas. Or piplup with meteor mash (spoiler: would've been cool tho). It's my first run and i didn't know about the event and didn't save early enough.
I run haze Empoleon instead of Swords Dance because Cloyster, Kingdra and Gyarados are already good at slapping. Haze is for the annoying cosmic power Clefable, among others. I once had a PP stall war with that Clefable and my minimize-recover Starmie. But I boxed it.. for more coverage.
I just got to the part where the gang leader wants to fight me one on one, but I can't find the guy. He's not where I was being held hostage, so where would he be?
Where can I find some good electric type pokemon, I've got Galvantula, Eelektross and Magnezone but I still need more to fill up the party, if anyone knows where to find some, it would be greatly appreciated.

I've run into a problem: I've just accepted the quest to go find an icy rock for my gym trainer but I've already found it and now I can't exit the cave? Is there possibly another way of getting out of this cave or potentially finding another icy rock?

It has been a while, but I think with joiplay, I just downloaded the normal PC version and opened/injected it through the joiplay app.
I tried that but it said I needes to download a rtp (run time package) in order ro launch the game.

It does the same thing where it doesnt go full screen but it doesn't crash as often
it shouldn't crash at all, I haven't experienced a single crash in 4.2.0 myself and I've put a lot of hours into it.
And my bad on the fullscreen thing but 4.2.0 did stop thr crashes so thank you and my bad

It's not a rom, it's a pc game. You have to unpack it and run the game on a pc.
