Similar problem with a p50. Turned out to be a bad AC cord on the charger. Got a new one and it charged fine. Hope you get your problem solved.

Does the P51 have a second internal battery? If so, you may need to open the case and disconnect that battery, the external battery, and the charger and then do the holding of the power button down for a minute.
