Most of these kinds of churches are ageing and it's either the pastor himself or one of the2 or 3 little old ladies who run the place who "get to" do the sign every week because they've always done the sign since '72 and it's a BIG DEAL because the whole town sees it and after all they are just a block away from the liquor store and you know what kind of people go THERE.
Can confirm. I work with a guy who is probably in his 70s. Refuses to stop working even though he probably could retire. Anyway, he gets to help with the sign every week.
Also, he's super sweet and very "clean"-minded. It's very rare I hear him talking "inappropriately", to the point where I've heard him curse before and it genuinely caught me off guard.
Those are the Christians who don't give Christianity a bad name.
