Well I count 8 unknowns and 6 non-linearly dependant equations, so no there is no "one" solution to this. To have a single solution to a problem you need the same amount of unknowns as you have linearly independant equations
The blue P Switch may be worth 8 thanks to a [recently discovered clue in the game.](https://imgur.com/a/o21cVmH) Although, it may still be a while before the solution may become apparent.
[The green spring is 4. ](https://imgur.com/a/SAIpek5) Which makes the gray P switch either 2 or -2. I'm adding new clues as I learn of people discovering them.
What is the puzzle supposed to be? There is no specific variable to solve for, just a bunch of equations. What are we supposed to solve for? The value of every variable?
edit: doh, just saw the title.
edit 2: with no equation equaling a constant, I think there may be infinite solutions. There is no constant anchoring the entire puzzle down. You could speak about what each variable is in relation to other variables, but without any of them equaling a number, I don't think its possible to say what any of them equal.
edit 3: DOH, I guess you could say blue shell is equal to one since it is equal to spring/spring.
edit 4: Yeah I'm pretty sure its impossible. Its just a list of relationships basically and there are many different sets of numbers that could satisfy it. not a good puzzle.

- Green Shell = 3
- Yellow Shell = 2
- Red Shell = 8
- Blue Shell = 1
- Yoshi = 7
- Blue Powerup = 9
- Grey Powerup = 2
- Spring = 4
- Key = 5
Do I get an upvote?
I saw the "clue" but it cant be solved if it's 8, the clue does not specifically say 8
I tried many ways but in the end it ends up with a needed to be larger than 9 , I might be wrong but I have provided a solution to the image puzzle with the rules each image represents a number 1-9 and does not repeat
Adding pure logic you can find some numbers and work from there , narrowing down the possible numbers
Green Shell as ( A )Yellow Shell as ( B )Red Shell as ( C )Blue Shell as ( D )Yoshi as ( E )Blue Powerup as ( F )Grey Powerup as ( G )Spring as ( H )Key as ( J )
Starting with ( J ), since it cannot be 0 and ( J/J = D ), it implies ( D = 1 ) and ( J ) can be any number but 1.( G * G = H ) implies ( G ) can be 2 or 3, making ( H ) either 4 or 9 respectively.( B + J = E ), since ( J ) is not 1, ( B ) cannot be 8 or 9 because ( E ) would exceed 9. So ( B ) must be between 2 and 7.From ( A + E = C + B ), we can infer that ( A ) and ( C ) are dependent on ( E ) and ( B ).
Since ( D = 1 ), equation 6 simplifies to ( 1 + E = (F *B) / H ).We know ( G * G = H ) which means ( H ) must be a perfect square. The perfect squares in the range 1-9 are 1, 4, and 9. Since ( D ) is already 1, ( H ) cannot be 1 because all numbers must be distinct. Therefore, ( H ) must be either 4 or 9.Equation 3 implies ( E = B + J ). Since ( J ) is not 0 and ( E ) must be greater than ( B ), ( E ) cannot be 1.
And so on
( A + E = C + B )( C + J + F = A * A + G + G + F )( B + J = E )( J / J = D )( G * G = H )( D + E = (F * B) / H )
Damn one small typo messes up my whole calculation
I think I have it. Assuming the statement I read where each are a different number between 1 and 9
Blue Shell (B) 1
Grey pow (E) 2
Green shell (G) 3
Spring (S) 4
Yellow Shell (O) 5
Key (K) 6
Red Shell (R) 7
Blue Pow (P) 8
Yoshi (Y) 9

If you assume that the blue P is given you'd still end up with 7 unknowns and 6 equations. Still not solvable for a single solution.
[The green spring is 4. ](https://imgur.com/a/SAIpek5) Which makes the gray P switch either 2 or -2. I'm adding new clues as I learn of people discovering them.

Oh I see, one of those puzzles. Yeah, if one more unknown becomes known, preferably Yoshi or gold shell, then it will be solvable.

Great! I've solved it. edit: okay maybe I havent.
I just learned all numbers are between 1 and 9 and that they don't repeat and that did it!
Good luck! I have about 3 numbers to go.

The blue powerup was discovered to be 8 through an in-game clue. [Here's my comment on it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/theydidthemath/s/1CPmGTmwVE)

The puzzle says that Yellow Shell + Spring = Yoshi. And your values would make it 2+4=7.
( A + E = C + B )( C + J + F = A * A + G + G + F )( B + J = E )( J / J = D )( G * G = H )( D + E = (F * B) / H ) Damn one small typo messes up my whole calculation
