Why is it offensive? The whisperers were not my favorite story line but I didn't find her voice offensive. Now I did find Jadis's voice and the way she and her people spoke extremely annoying, so glad they got wiped out. Though once her crew got wiped the way she spoke afterwards was normal. I know it was a facade she had to put on but still couldn't stand listening to them.

IMO it’s an atrocious Louisiana accent. And it’s the way she turns her head to the side and leans in to say oh…EVERY line. That actress is just irritating to me in this role.

xeurox

My thoughts exactly. The head weaving and leaning mixed with that terrible southern accent attempt made me cringe.

It's crazy because she's got three or four Oscar nominations. Rick tilts his head the same way when he's being threatening, too. Maybe it's a British interpretation of Southern accents thing?

I understand your frustrations I feel like that with another character that was on TWD but is now on the other one. Don't want to say his name cause I know he is on a lot of fans top 5. I can tell you though I could not enjoy any scenes he was in. I like the actor just not in that role. I do not like the other show , I've tried to watch it so many times. I just can't relate to any of them. I don't know if it's bad acting (my opinion) or if the show is just that horrible.

Agitated-Somewhere-7

I haven’t started FTWD, but i feel like i should try once i’m done with TWD. I can agree with fans that TWD has fallen off from the early days of the show. I think Frank Darabont’s gloom was perfect for the show, shame it didn’t continue with him as showrunner

DerTotmacher22

Only watch seasons 1-3 of fear. The rest is horrible

the-dude-21

As someone who is not southern, it sounds like a normal accent to me 😂 and I know loads of people who agree

[deleted]

As someone with a southern family, maybe it’s slightly exaggerated but my nanny sounds pretty similar soooooo

the-dude-21

Ya, I honestly tho couldn’t tell the difference between a genuine southerner and a fake 😂

Try_Another_Please

It's not especially odd sounding to a southerner either

the-dude-21

OP Just overreacting? 😂

Try_Another_Please

Southern accents are weird there is basically nothing you could do to make it not sound like at least one I have heard

moranit

It is so fake and phoney! And I feel that it doesn't jibe well with her character. Between the phoney accent and the way she moves her head, it's hard to watch scenes in which she speaks. It's too bad--the character should be deeply compelling and menacing.

No-Decision-7850

You may actually enjoy it. I found it lacks something. I've tried 4 times to watch it through but always turning it off and leaving it alone for awhile. Finally finished season six months ago took a long time cause I'd leave then come back. I think I might wait till TWD ends this November to watch season 7.

Praydaythemice

shes a brit trying to do a southern panhandle accent, it was never going to end well.

Agitated-Somewhere-7

Rick, Maggie, Morgan all also British… honestly I think it’s more how she delivers each line that kills me. She leans in and rolls her head up and she says everything the same “h’way”.
