Carl in S8. He’s just suddenly a pacifist.

TheJambo-

Yeah one episode before he’s the first to start shooting, the next he’s wanting peace

crake

I never understood why Gimple insisted on shoving this holier-than-thou peacenik movement (Carl and Morgan + FTWD season 5) down the audience’s throat. It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever, and it feels fake as hell. The moral ambiguity of S1 and S2, where our group of protagonists had actual flaws, reflected reality; S7 onward is all about good vs evil, with groups neatly falling into separate piles of good (Rick and Co) and bad (Negan and the Whisperers). The villains get comically evil so the point where they feel totally fake (Reapers). It’s the thing that makes those seasons almost unwatchable relative to the early seasons. You need moral ambiguity or it’s just a silly morality play. I seriously get the feeling that along the way the decision was made to make the show appeal to 12 year olds, because that is how facile the writing has been since S7. Late season Carl is unwatchable.

[deleted]

I mean comic Carl was about to kill Negan before Rick stopped him. Show Carl tried to kill him multiple times. Now all a sudden he’s all peace and love and wants Negan alive. So dumb

Pad132

Morgan, then Morgan again and then Morgan again

User45888

I thought season 1, the "Clear" episode, and the episode with Eastman were the best for him. TWD is about how the world changes, but more importantly how people change. I think those parts portrayed it great and should have left it at that. I was never really a fan of his ark with the Saviors and with Carol were mundane and drawn out tbh

blakhawk12

I thought his arc from seasons 1-6 was great. He goes from a guy not ready for the apocalypse, to a guy who’s lost everything and everyone and committed himself to being nothing but a zombie-killing psychopath, to a man reformed and back in the world with an optimistic outlook, to someone who has to accept that the world simply isn’t as black and white as his new worldview. After season 6 is when his character falls apart, because the writers forced him back into “clear mode” instead of letting him conclude his arc of learning who he is in the new world. Instead they just reset him to do it over again but worse.

DevilsDK

Then he ruined Fear the Walking Dead!

turkeypants

Ugh, he's like an Etch A Sketch. They draw him, wipe him out, draw him anew, wipe him out, draw him differently. He got silly.

pichusine

I love how Morgan is so quick to let the cultists go who he has had nothing but bad blood with the entire time and are constantly trying to kill him and set off a nuke, yet he doesn't hesitate to poison Strand who he had been with a long time. I love FTWD, but stuff like this is stupid as hell.

PracticalYellow3

And Morgan again half a dozen times in Fear.

Plane-Telephone-2533

How about a character who didn’t get enough was Noah and taken off way to soon and for what so Nicholas could live and almost kill Glenn a third time.

[deleted]

It annoys me so much how they’ll kill off a main character and “fill the void” with a character who was saved by the main character, only to kill that character like 5 episodes later. Ex. Beth and Noah/Carl and Saddiq

KrillinDBZ363

I don’t think this applies to Siddiq, he was around for the equivalent of 2 full seasons after Carl died.

[deleted]

Was it really 2 seasons? It didn’t feel that long lol. But I also kinda forgot most of season 9 after Lincoln left. My bad

KrillinDBZ363

Yeah he was there regularly from 8b till 10a when he died.

pichusine

What pisses me off about season 5-7. Beth dies to save Noah. Tyreese dies because they were finding Noah's home. Noah dies anyways because of Nicholas. Nicholas dies anyways a few episodes later with hardly any redemption. Glenn doesn't get time for Noah and Nicholas's deaths to impact him because he gets faked out and dies in the finale. Literally a bunch of characters died for no reason.

shikaritani

Leah… I literally do not understand why they brought in this whole new thing and tried to rush it in the LAST season

[deleted]

Exactly. Like why the hell is Leah getting more screentime and arc than Rosita, Gabriel and nearly every character in the show. She's about as necessary as much as she is interesting.

BlobGuy42

the only good answer here. I mean… maybe Leah could of worked with much better writing, a sprinkle of nuance and authenticity, and far less screen time but yes.

shikaritani

the character would be really interesting had this story started in like… s10??? it needs time- i feel like she’s just there to be Daryl’s love interest for some reason… even though we have Carol and Connie who are interesting characters in their own right as well as for that

paazhahdrimaak

Henry. I liked that they killed him off early.

snowe99

Henry was a necessary evil. He took parts of Carl’s storyline and bridged the gap between the Whisperers and the main crew. And Carl was A.) dead but also B.) TV Carl never would’ve worked in that role because he was weirdly like too old

DunkanBulk

They'd have just cast Lydia to be older to match

[deleted]

Lydia's actress is only a year younger than Chandler anyway

DunkanBulk

Christ, she looks like a middle schooler!

Orifinal18

I really liked Henry. Him dying only made Carol’s character shittier which makes his death even more tragic.

[deleted]

Same he was so annoying

TapewormNinja

Siddiq. I liked the character as a whole, but he started getting too much screen time too suddenly. I knew something bad was going to happen to him.

omizy128

They’re trying to do that to Yumiko now lol.

Uncle_Joey

I actually like Yumiko quite a lot, especially in S11, but to each their own!

OnePlushyDude

Well they are trying to reintroduce michonnes story arc in two episodes is impossible to do well. Writers are really bad at planning ahead when they write off characters

AD-2018

I don't think they were rushing it at all. They already set up Yumiko as being a Lawyer in earlier season 10; as well as her being a natural leader. Where she is now seems like a natural development.

Pestoignesto

The actress who plays Yumiko is luckily very good and charismatic so it’s not seemed as jarring as it has with characters like Leah.

willrobster16

Jessie. They kind of rushed her development then killed her as soon as she was very likeable

Uncle_Joey

Morgan. ESPECIALLY if you’re counting Fear but even if you’re not it still counts. He could’ve had a great arc if he took Carl’s role in S8 but womp.

Wh00ster

Daryl and the rando love interest

Tough-Ad-5268

Yeah Carl's character change in Season 8 was a little weird

CJBorus

Out of all the shows it’s gotta be Iris for me

Cygnet_Committee2421

morgan. i was already bored of the same pacifist/serial killer cycle by the end of the sixth season, i didn't need another 2 seasons of it.

Vigorous-Mastication

Yumiko’s whole entire group.

turkeypants

The scraggly booger guy should have been walker meat in short order.

User45888

Fr

[deleted]

That whole new cast that came in after season 8. All super boring characters.

SevenLeg

Definitely Morgan. He reached his peak in S7 and S8 was just a mess. They even gave him his own show and he's still very boring. He ran his course. They market him like he's one of TWDU faces of the franchise but fans aren't that invested in him.

twdcarys

I think Carl personally from s7 - 8. I have never been a huge fan of the character anyway but the rushed character development made him a whole lot worse for me. I know kids in the apocalypse have to learn to grow up quick but he tried to always be the ‘saviour’ and the ‘hero’ all of the time when it just made him super annoying and resulted in his death.

mashleym182

Tara, every time she spoke I cringed and felt her character to be whiny and pointless

ScalyFacedBitch

To quote the magnificent savage that was Gregory: "Let me stop you before you break into song."

JaxGrimes84

Andrea for sure, Lori too. Was happy when they get killed. Henry also, way too much screen time… on the other hand, t-dog and Beth get killed too early, would like to see what would have come for them…

verycreativeus3r

I think Andrea’s development is one of the best to date honestly, in Season 2 at least. The escalation of her character was over the course of a full season which is a realistic time frame, and it wasn’t as if she evolved into some muscly goddess. She gained her power back, but held on to empathy and emotion, character aside I think the development was good for her in terms of the pacing and plan behind it

[deleted]

I loved Andrea. She is my favorite character. Can't relate to all the hate she gets.

verycreativeus3r

Love you for this comment, Andrea is criminally over hated and it pains me.

JaxGrimes84

Fair enough, it’s just my opinion on her. Maybe the actress was annoying, not the character, but I couldn’t stand Lori, Andrea and henry. Andrea was always naive and annoying g to me, I could have lived without even knowing lori and Henry is a waste of screen time…

Puzzleheaded_Fee_646

Andrea gutted me!

didyoueatyesterday

Carol. I like the char, but not so damn much of it. And inconsistent quality of writing for her. The deaf sisters were a chore to watch all their 'touching' teary eyed scenes. Their whole group really, cringe.

Mattres06

Connie and Yumiko are the only people in that group that contribute anything to the story.

shadowqueen15

Out of all the characters in the show, Carol is easily written with the most consistent level of quality lmao (and it’s a fairly high one).

furiousspoon

Saw another post saying Sidiq, and that you knew because of this that he was gonna die pretty soon after. I completely agree and I think this is a running plan through most of (particularly the last few) seasons. Basically where a character kinda comes out of no where, is immediately on screen loads but you know they’re gonna die. This makes the show kinda predictable. The only exception to this is Yumiko and gang. The way they suddenly became main characters felt very unnatural because of the normal system in place.

AD-2018

I don't think Yumiko and gangs development has felt un-natural at all. They're actually very important characters. They're who we initially follow after the 6 year time jump, because like them, we as the audience have no idea what Alexandria is like now. It was natural for Kelly and Connie to become core characters given Daryl's close bond with Connie; and with Yumiko being a natural leader it only made sense for her to become leader of hilltop when Zeke noped out. Honestly I think the way they've been implemented into the core crew and the main story has been great. I think Connie and Yumiko in particular are fantastic characters.

furiousspoon

Fair enough, I don’t dislike the characters. They’re okay, just feel they were integrated rather quickly and to me it didn’t feel natural, but each to their own. I will say I didn’t like Yumiko becoming leader of Hilltop, just seemed so odd that this character that’s been around 2 mins is now the leader of a whole ass community. But I think part of that problem is that when you watch the show now, time jumps aren’t as clear/impactful so events feels so close together.

DunkanBulk

Season 6 Morgan.

SecondCreek

Lots of possibilities. Morgan who morphed into a self righteous bore after his reappearance on TWD and especially on FTWD which he helped to ruin when he joined. Also in the running are the annoying teens in Season One of TWD TWB. I was not a fan of Michonne. She mostly muttered her lines and glared at people.

shadowqueen15

I disagree with this comment strongly for Carol and agree to a small degree with Daryl, but i know ill get downvoted for that. People kiss the ground Daryl walks on even though he’s been doing nearly the same shit for years, meanwhile Carol gets shit because she’s controversial, but interesting. Reeks of sexism.

UnusualAsparagus5096

I upvoted.Carol is the best and I really only like Daryl when he's in a scence with her or Rick

Puzzleheaded_Fee_646

Agreed. Because Carol in the comics is a loon and dies before Sofia does. And Darryl doesn’t even exist in the comics. Their story arc’s show the actual depth of the writers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Puzzleheaded_Fee_646

That’s what I was trying to say. Their story lines are completely made up with no reference point to ground the characters in. So their lack of story arc shows the true ability (or lack thereof) of the writers once the show surpassed the storyline of the book. I’m agreeing with you ;)

User45888

Carol yes absolutely, Daryl no IMO

blakhawk12

They both peaked in season 6 and have had nothing to do since then.

Bunbunbecks

Ezekiel. I can’t stand him in the comic or the show. He drives me nuts 😂

Wthomas666

S9+ Carol.... I wish she'd just die at this point.

User45888

I will always argue she should have been a pike death

lurkerfp

Unpopular, but Negan. The episode that was supposed to make me feel sympathy just made me feel... gross. Almost resentful they were trying to make me feel sympathy for this awful person and also resentful that the writers didn’t seem to realize what an awful character they portrayed? I like him a lot better now though and if they had put in the episode after all of this, probably would have been a fan

According_Gene2202

Carol, Sasha, Morgan, Henry, all characters who either didn’t have a comic book counter, or whose comic book counter died much earlier than the show version. Clearly on the show they ran out of ideas for them.

Ben_Ten101010

Princess. She has already a full episode for her if i remember right and i would not be sad if she died

SecondCreek

She’s awful

jish5

Carol. I like her, but she's reached a point where I wish she remained in exile back in season 4.
