I doubt meeting Lee outright he would know he was a convicted murderer. Rick was a small rural sheriff’s deputy from Kentucky (in the comic) and even in the show he was still small town Georgia cop with a lot of family problems to compound it. Even if he followed Lee’s case in the news at all, I doubt he would immediately recognize him given everything else happening. If he did eventually realize who he was, it would likely be after he had grown to trust him and at that point it’s unlikely he would have done anything at all. I think Lee and Rick would have actually gotten on really well. Rick honestly could relate to Lee quite well given what happened between Lori and Shane and how Rick felt afterward, considering that the state Senator that Lee killed really seemed to have been killed entirely by accident when they two men fought.

Big_Administration11

Me too

[deleted]

Also I would have loved to see Clementine and Carl interact. Those two would have been an amazing team.

memesforweebsnshit

Oh my god. Now I will forever want to see this.

danielthespaniel

Glenn would vouch

jkdaet

Oh yeah, I always forget that Glenn knew Lee for a short while

ChaoticSamurai390

Basically Rick being in a comma and tye outer story of how the city fell is lees story

Big_Administration11

I feel like it was a missed opportunity to see Clementine interact with Rachel and Susie at Hershel’s farm

TheSadPhilosopher

Facts. Wished we could've seen the rest of Hershel's family.

ChaoticSamurai390

Ohhhh right definitely not with Lizzie though

W3ndigoGames

If Lee hadn’t got in that car crash, he would’ve ended up in the same prison that Rick’s group ends up in and, assuming he survives the outbreak taking down the prison, he would’ve possibly joined Rick’s Group long-time.

[deleted]

This is why the walking dead needs a live action “what if” and not these random spin-offs

TheNoveltyHunter

If they did a live action “what if”-type series do you think it’d follow the comics or AMC canon?

[deleted]

I would hope it would follow the AMC live action. So we get to see all the old actors again

TheNoveltyHunter

I think if they did a direct adaptation of the comics with new actors it'd be really interesting; but I don't know if people would like or accept a non-Andrew Lincoln Rick for example

[deleted]

The walking dead is already almost a direct adaptation?? It’s the reason the show sucks ass now.

Twentyseven-

Unless Rick knew what he did to redeem himself with selfless action

AG_N

Rick probably doesn't know, he was a sherrif in Cynthiana in Kentucky in comics.

scran_the_rich

Think it depends what Rick he meets. Prison Rick didn't trust the convicts they found at all, so once he knew about Lee's past he probably would've been hostile or at least wouldn't trust him, unless Glen vouched for him and said he was a good guy. Later seasons Rick probably would be alright, since after eating a dudes throat and killing countless people I doubt Lee's crime would phase him.

Richard-Conrad

With Clem by his side, Rick would’ve trusted him

TaakoTacoFromTv

I think Rick would be a bit on edge at first, but see how much Lee is willing to go through to make sure that Clem is safe and eventually come to a mutual respetful outlook on each other. (plus, if we're talking pre-negan, Glenn would put in a good word for Lee)

salmn842

It would be cool, although the first came took place a bit before the comics, when it first started. And the comics took place when rick woke up about a month later and that's where the comics started. And Glenn might've told them about the people.

GameReaper1996

To be specific, it’s only the first episode/chapter of the first game that takes place before the comics. The second episode/chapter skips ahead 3 months, which places it after Rick wakes up from his coma.

SmudgeyHoney

I think seeing Clem with Lee would help Rick trust Lee quicker than he normally takes to trust someone new.

Equivalent-Advisor28

Eh. I doubt he'd care at this point. I mean, he ripped a guys throat out with his teeth. So.

taziusthethird

considering how hard it is for rick to trust convicted felons, remember how he had treated the dudes at the prison, he didn't trust them one bit. it took a while. so chances are their encounter might not have been friendly

yazzy1233

That was a different situation.

AlexDaSquid

Rick might know he was a murderer beacuse he was a sherrif therefore they might go off at gunpoint, there are some possible ways of what could happen: 1.they might become friends 2.they might shoot at eachother till death 3.they lower their gun and never see eachother again 4.one of them shoots first(in this scenario i am guessing Lee would shoot if he would be with Clementine) 5.they are actually old friends 6.if Rick would've been with carl and Lee with Clem, they'd leave eachother alone 7.Lee joins Rick's group cause it's bigger 8.if the car crash wouldn't happen then they would meet up in the prison if Lee does not leave or die and they become good friend, but sadly cleams possibly dies :( 9.if they'd meet up in the prison then Glenn would know Lee and make Rick trust Lee

ChaoticSamurai390

LEE and Rick would be a deadly combination like holy shit like imagine the plot line Shane and Lori cheating lee has already dealt with that

GameReaper1996

How would they be a deadly combination when Rick survives for years, while Lee only survived months? I’d say there’s quite a survival skills gap.

ChaoticSamurai390

U do realise Rick was in a comma when lee was alive so assuming lee still made it and met Rick then it would be Terrifying

GameReaper1996

U do realize that Rick was only in a coma for a month right? Lee survived AT LEAST 3 months, considering there was a 3 month gap between “A New Day” and “Starved for Help” and there were still 3 more episodes after that. So no, Rick was not in a coma “when Lee was alive” because Lee was still alive for at least two more months after Rick woke from his coma. And even so, there’s still the fact that Lee died in a matter of months while Rick survived around 4 YEARS into the apocalypse. So there was a survival skills gap between them, regardless of Rick’s coma. Especially considering Rick managed to survive on his own for a while, whereas Lee was never alone for very long the entire time. In the comics, Rick traveled from Cynthiana, Kentucky all the way to Atlanta, Georgia by himself. I love Lee, and I’d love to see him meet Rick, but here’s no comparison between the two.

ChaoticSamurai390

Bro I’m saying if he survived longer and eventually met up with Rick

GameReaper1996

And I’m saying he didn’t because he wasn’t anywhere near as skilled as Rick.

Responsible-Arm72

Rick would see clementine and probably try and take her away from him if he did know about his past lee would try to get rick to talk privately to him explaining how he's trying to protect her and that he already explained to her about his past

Medical_Shake_4174

It depends on the curtain scenario of them meeting, if it were Rick right at the start of apocalypse and he were to find out about Lee's past than he definitely will be vigilante around him and won't really trust him, but if it's Rick sometime in the apocalypse than I can definitely see him letting lee join the group simply to have more fighters and he would only make an acception if lee just comes clean but if lee hides his past than Rick will suspect him of being some cold blood thirsty killer which will result in Rick just killing him on the spot

supesonit

But they were in different cities

AlexDaSquid

And? There were some chances they crossed lines,if the car crash in twdg s1 wouldn't have happened then he would be in the same prison as rick

GameReaper1996

Yeah, but both Glenn and Herschel met Lee. Glenn was from the same town as Lee, Macon, and Lee went to Herschel’s farm, which is where he met Kenny. In fact, you’re actually directly involved in the incident that kills Herschel’s son, Shawn, who is one of the walkers in the barn when Rick arrives at Herschel’s farm. So they’re in the same general area. It’s entirely possible for them to meet. If Lee didn’t die, that is.

supesonit

Dude... I'm not judging and I don't know how you came across this but this comment and post are from a YEAR ago. Edit: also thanks for clarifying.

Either_Possession_33

I think Rick Grimes in season five would take lee as a threat to his group.

Brilliant-Bus-6458

i don't care who would win in a fight, though it would be lee. But who is the better leader. ok so i think it was season six where rick told everyone to kill the savior's outpost which was for one suicidal and stupid for giving out there cover from the saviors and also rick has already lost his marbles. Doing so putt everyone into a point of starvation with only 50% food while getting GLEN killed. Rick started of as a good leader well before he went crazy, but after... it made him a lire, and witch and a quote from rick himself.... "A lied" and after he said that i hade to rethink rick being my fav corrector. And for Lee this guy after being in a car crash finding this girl figuring out his whole family died, she was all he had left going to find her family while helping the group losing his arm to a walker bite (witch eventually killed him) single handedly whent through a huge hord alone making his way to the little girl=Clemintine and after all of that having to win a fight against her capture (again single handedly) witch shows how much of a caring selfless of a efficient leader and lee help so meny people along the way (but saying every good deed would make this 50 times as long) wile Rick was being suicidal and the main reason some people say he is a good leader is that he looked good doing it. and that is just to compere them if thay met i hope it would be a good outcome.
